4.169. [Day 1] What K-pop title track from 2024 sounds sad, but the lyrics are sad?

I got inspired by an ongoing game in r/TomorrowXTogether. Since I am a K-pop multistan myself and 2024 was an amazing year for music, I got a bright idea. This game is simple: - Comment a K-pop title track released in 2024 that matches the following criteria mentioned in the title. - The title track with the most upvotes gets to be labeled in the designated square. submitted by /u/Redditpernya [link] [comments]

4.173. When did you realize you were affected by the parasocial relationship?

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I feel like many of us say, “I’m not that deep into stan culture” or “I could never get too emotionally invested,” but then something happens that makes you stop and think maybe I am, just a little.?? For me, it happened recently with TXT. I was walking around the city during their tour with some friends, and we were casually hoping to spot the members (not in a creepy stalky way) just legit curious. When we didn’t see them, I actually felt a bit disappointed. And I had to ask myself, why does this affect me so much? They don’t know who I am. 💀 Another moment was years ago, when I first got into kpop. I watched an emotional Bang Chan edit and randomly started crying. Then I just sat there like, girl, what are you doing?? Get it together haha I’m really curious have you ever had a moment like that?? I’m not judging of course, we always find comfort in our favorite groups and biases :) I hope this doesn’t come off as childish haha I literally I’m a full-on adult, I work and study 😆 submitted by /u/Jaded_Butterfly_4844 [link] [comments]

https://youtu.be/0at3vB6RvyQ?si=86nP2QX9OE7upf7v This is G-Dragon performing middle fingers up.. This won't be a long post by any means. Just something I saw, very new to kpop so many idols might have the same style. But the recent confidence and swag of Heeseung reminds me of G-Dragon so much! The hand signs, the facial expressions and how he's carries himself. Anyone who feels the same? submitted by /u/Primary-Resort3014 [link] [comments]

Just a small note: Let's try to keep things fair and thoughtful. While we all love our biases, feel free to name someone you truly believe shines vocally even if they're not your ult. Let's use this as a space to celebrate real vocal talent and keep it fun for everyone. 4.183. Any predictions as to what sound/vibe the new BigHit group will have based on the music trajectory of txt, trends in 5th gen etc.

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

so obvs im sure most of you have heard about the new BigHit bg debuting in august, with some members having produced multiple other songs. so far the main sort of driving point or appeal is the fact that they're supposedly going to be a self producing group, which is very cool. but i couldn't even begiN to make an educated guess as to what their debut song will sound like😭 especially because, while i stan a lot of 5th gen bgs, i dont really listen to a lot of their music. so basically im wondering if anyone has any predictions as to what musical direction/vibe BigHit might take or allow the members to take with this new group? based on anything such as musical trends in kpop rn (specifically newer releases), or sounds that have been growing in popularity recently, or any sort of inspiration from txt as their seniors, or even based on the songs members have produced in the past etc submitted by /u/Important-Zombie9331 [link] [comments]

4.186. The discourse around the "YG sound" and the nitpicky nature of it

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

To start this off, I'll define what counts as the "YG sound". YG's brand of kpop usually involves a certain formula in regards music structure, instrumentals used and lyrical choices; obviously these elements did not come from YG and you can easily trace them to black music but it's Kpop and the general fandom has the habit of generalising sonic identities so I'll keep it within that context. The YG sound is a rather notorious brand of kpop music as it has a huge fan base behind it as it also has very vocal detractors. The usual critique for the music YG usually pumps out is the perceived lack of innovation and the company's inability to follow musical trends; the critique has merit and I understand where people are coming from with this but I can't help but notice the flaws and hypocrisy of how YG groups' music is viewed on here. YG groups(and affiliated groups) who release songs that go against this formula are quickly ignored without fail or criminally underrated but when these same groups release what their company is notorious for, teeth's are sharpened and voices are gained and the critique of "they all sound the same" gets blasted from every corner when this fundamentally could not be far from the truth. An obvious example of this is Treasure whose concept and music are mostly bubblegum boy crush music, but they are mostly known for songs like Jikjin and Bona Bona and people criticise them for not doing anything new when literally most of their discography is right there; same can be said for Babymonster whereby their most popular songs are Sheesh and Drip, and songs like Forever,Like that and Hot Sauce are paid dust despite these songs been very distinct from whatever their seniors have put out; Winner just been overlooked in any conversation about YG also proves this. The Kpop fandom, I don't know if intentionally, nitpicks the discographies of YG groups to furnish discourse about the YG brand of music and in the same breath praise other groups for releasing music that use the same formula( the success of Huntrix and Saja Boys from Kpop demonhunter proves this point) which makes me ponder that is the problem really the music? Note: I'm not invalidating genuine criticism, I'm talking about the discourse farming and exerggerated nature of the topics that surround the elements of music released by YG groups submitted by /u/Zestyclose-Bridge830 [link] [comments]
