2.026. MARK'S 1999 - MOST TECHNICAL / MUSICALLY STRUCTURED Kpop Song Ever ? (question to MUSICIANS, SO NO CASUAL LISTENER ROOKIE TAKES PLEASE. thanks)

  • 2 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

AGAIN DISCLAIMER - *NO ROOKIE TAKES PLEASE, WANT TO START A MUSICAL DISCUSSION\* BUT OF COURSE, POSITIVE THOUGHTS AND MORE SIMILAR MUSIC SUGGESTIONS ARE WELCOME. So, starting of, Mark Lee's 1999 (to me) has been the most musically structured song in the industry till now (from what I have listened of course). Been a fan of kpop since 2012 so HAD listened to almost every type of music / concept atp lol. From the first listen, till now, I never get tired of this song and it's artistry. There has been very few songs in the industry that has THIS MUCH musical and especially theatre driven sound with some very beautiful homages to different ages of sound in music over the years. There has been few ones (as I mentioned earlier) which somewhat had few sections like that, where music feels much more technical but still artistic like some older songs of Shinee (don't recall the exact names of the songs). With how the musicality is going when it comes to the Kpop industry, its good and bad at the same time from what I feel. Good ye coz everything is easy listening now so no suprising elements in the songs, just one streamlined song (also short). Bad coz the essence of that music which used to be, is slowly losing its ground in Kpop. The thing that separated Kpop from other music industries (for me of course) was the distinct musicality and the structure. Which honestly I can understand since companies want to earn more streams and be like western market. But the thing that kept me as a fan of the industry was the sound and sadly we are losing that. Let me know what are ya'll thoughts. submitted by /u/Daddy1007a [link] [comments]

2.027. Question about dress codes as a first-time concert-goer

Hello! I’ll be going to my first concert ever soon, specifically P1Harmony’s ‘Most Wanted’ Tour. I looked up the dress code and saw that it’s silver, cream, and purple but I don’t really have anything like that. Do fans actually follow the dress code and will I stand out if I don’t follow it? Sorry if it’s a stupid question, I’m just a little anxious since I don’t know what to expect. submitted by /u/Mysterious-Word-7493 [link] [comments]

2.028. AITA for not inviting my cousin to my birthday because she likes kpop?

  • 2 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I(14F) and my cousin Alice(13F) have always been close, we grew up together. I had birthday last week. I didint invite Alice like I usually, because for the past 3 years she has been really into kpop. You might think its harsh to not invite her because of something she likes, but its getting of hand. Let me explain. She is following every member of SKZ on social media, that isnt the biggest problem. Problem is she is obsesed with them, she remembers every small detail and information about their lives, especially Bang Chan. But at the same time she hates them for changing looks, drinking alchohol, getting older and not making enough content in english. Alice is very delusional, she thinks one day she will go to South Korea and meet one of them, they will fall in love and get married. Alice also calls Bang Chan her boyfriend or husband. She also hates western pop idols. Alice think they didint work hard enough, because they didint go trough trainee program like kpop idols do. And last birthday when I invited her, she talked only about SKZ, she wanted to play their music. And when i changed conversation topic or put on a song that i like, she got very mad, saying i hate them etc. So this year i decided not to invite her. Alice got very mad, also my aunt and grandma thought its rude not to invite her, so they also didint come to "teach me a lesson". What are your thoughts? submitted by /u/Available-Street-822 [link] [comments]

2.036. SM Entertainment peaked as a company in 2018 and I can’t see how they will top it

  • 2 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Everyone always has their opinions about when was the best year/era to be a kpop fan. But when I was discussing with one of my friends the other day, we both agreed that SM Entertainment as a company were unmatched in 2018 and I don’t think they’ve managed to replicate what they did in 2018. And to be honest, they probably never will. The entire NCT 2018 project - Black on Black, Go, Touch, Baby Don’t Stop, Boss, the list goes on really. Red Velvet having Bad Boy, Power Up and RBB all in the same year. An insanely good run. Red Velvet also had the amazing Japanese release #Cookie Jar Shinee started their Story of Light series with the phenomenal song Good Evening. BoA had EVERYONE dancing with One Shot, Two Shot and absolutely FLOORED everyone with the upside down walking choreography in Woman. NCT 127 releasing their first album Regular-Irregular and the repackage. NCT Dream’s (at the time) farewell to Mark with We Go Up. EXO releasing Tempo and Love Shot!! Admittedly I am not a big fan of Love Shot but even I can’t deny it was EVERYWHERE. SNSD Lil Touch subunit!!!!! Everyone was LIVING during this era and I remember the petitions to have a full dance practice released (which we never got sadly). Probably still my favourite release of all of the ones I’ve mentioned so far. SM Station releases!! Wow Thing, Baekhyun, NCT Dream, etc etc I feel like I’m forgetting some SM artists who dropped absolute classics in 2018 so if I have please drop them in the comments, I am writing this on an empty stomach at work so please excuse my memory. submitted by /u/Current-Subject4699 [link] [comments]
