Ew trump. I do not support any misogynistic, white nationalist, incel, hitler-like (esp. Musk), racists at all and neither does this sub and apparently neither does reddit as a site as a whole. He stands against everything Kpop stands for which is an art form from a formerly colonized people from a country that is rising up against colonialism and hatred. 1) Comment only 1 girl per country along with a picture. 2) They DO NOT have to be from a K-Pop group specifically, but they do have to be from a girl group! 3) Bi-racial idols are allowed, however, if they win for one category, they are ineligible for another. 4) Votes will be calculated after 24 hours. Nien of tripleS is our Vietnamese rep! For the next round, we’re looking for a representative from Taiwan! South Korea: Jihyo (TWICE) The Philippines: Sophia (KATSEYE) Mainland China: Yuqi (i-dle) Thailand: Minnie (i-dle) India: Sriya (Blackswan) Hong Kong: Vivi (Loosemble) Vietnam: Nien (tripleS) Once we complete this chart, we’ll do the same with a boy group! submitted by /u/sailormusic [link] [comments]

I honsetly would have loved to see a music video for I'll Like You by ILLIT-its just gives a magical vibe I think would be amazing in a music video(but then again, every IlLIT song makes me feel magical😂) submitted by /u/Particular-Rain116 [link] [comments]
Not sure if everyone here has heard the 1.0 version of APT that Rosé shared on The Howard Stern Show. I saw someone comment on it, and it seems like some people loved it while others didn’t. I believe that 1.0 version came before Bruno Mars joined the team, and you can clearly hear the difference before and after his involvement. The version that actually got released just gives off that classic Bruno Mars vibe: funky bass lines, horns, and a danceable groove that feels straight out of 24K Magic. Hypothetically, if the 1.0 version had been the final release instead of the one with Bruno’s input, do you think it still would’ve been a hit — charting on Billboard, winning awards, etc.? Why or why not? submitted by /u/Creepy_Jackfruit8617 [link] [comments]
Let's build a girl group with underrated members on it. here's the rules: Comment 1 idol which you think is underrated along with their picture. One member per group, to give chance on other ggs. also if they win for one category, they are ineligible for another. Idol who is the top comment will be add on the grid. so let's start off on picking our main vocalist! submitted by /u/Yejisauce_ [link] [comments]
I was so taken aback to see this in my recommended feed. I never really see kpop stuff in the major/mainstream subs. submitted by /u/etoilez [link] [comments]

Golden ages are usually identified in retrospect. Golden ages end for a variety of reasons. One is a genre can be so successful so as to just be the default. This happened with prestige TV I think. TV is either reality, sitcom, or heavily using prestige tropes. During a golden age there's usually a strong consensus of what the best one or few things are. Again, "Breaking Bad" in prestige TV. There may (dunno) be better TV today but there's never going to be just one great show like when Breaking Bad was a hit. I think people view gen 2/3 as a vocal golden age in kpop. Like I can just bring up Taeyeon or Wendy as an example of a great vocalist and I'm not really gonna get into a fanwar. It's like the "Breaking Bad" effect. You can't really do that with your gen4 vocal bias and just expect agreement by default. On the "golden age" topic you can sometimes ask the question, what are we in the golden age of, that we might be missing? In kpop it's probably choreo. It did probably replace vocal somewhat, just in that you can only specialize in so many things at once. It's of-the-moment. The thing is choreo+visual is distribution, whereas music as a product can't really self-distribute. Pandemic, kpop choreo+visual and tiktok were a good combo for the industry. It's not really a historical constant. Royal families don't dance (can you imagine?). America's celebrity class doesn't really dance. Singers sometimes do, sometimes don't. Actors and actresses usually don't. In American culture, line dances come in and out of fashion, kpop dance being line dance adjacent. There's not any great reason you'd think the choreo part of kpop will last forever. If any one moment inspired me to write this it's how exhausted ILLIT besides Iroha looks after performing "Jellyous." That just drives the point home to me, yes we are in a very choreo intensive era right now. So if it's peaking now and it doesn't last in 5 years (which it may or may not), I'd call it a golden age. And one reason I like bringing this up now is I always feel a little uncertain about put-downs of gens 4 and 5 compared to 2 and 3's vocal dominance. Like, I got into kpop during gen 4 and 5. I had chances earlier -- when I got into kpop last year I still had these moments like, oh I've seen Sana before, wasn't Perfect Velvet playing at the gym all the time, hey the BOOM BOOM group is coming back. Turns out the choreos and visuals mean a lot to me. Like take "Icarus" for example, that's my SOTY but I didn't "get" it on the album. I "got" it in one of the music shows where I saw the dance was unusually sync intensive, then I basically fell in love with the performance video in particular. Clearly choreo/visual is a very important piece to me even if all else equal I'd take some gen 2 artists on vocals. basically I'm saying give choreo era more credit... it might actually be an era and it might not last submitted by /u/abyssazaur [link] [comments]
Ik this all subjective yada yada yada anyways... KickFlip: imo the best new group of the year so far! They have already released three EP's, each one better than the last. Their bsides in particular follow such interesting and unique song structures and are instant mood boosters dominATE: Even stray kids haters are loving this mixtape. I am not a big fan of the group but this mixtape is quite different than most of the work you know them for. Four songs and no skips. Some of their best work in a while. NiziU: Oh NiziU, I hope your never forgotten. Love Line and What if are their Korean releases of the year and they are both really really good! Maybe Tomorrow: Wow Day6, this song is amazing!! One of my personal favourites of the year. I have not heard the whole album yet but it is also getting a ton of praise. WINTER HEPTAGON: Yall gonna hate me but I think this GOT7 comeback is a tad overrated but it is still a quite strong album and provided that GOT7 still got it. GIMME GIMME: I am not a fan of noise music but this is just a straight up banger. Also recommend the bside Kings & Queens if you want something a lot more tamer but still good. ALL(H)OURS are quite talented. BEAUTIFUL LIFE: This is imo the boy group song of the year so far. Please listen to it and watch the MV if you have not already. I truly believe this is one of those just special songs. Also the whole album is really good. Xdinary Heroes were done right with this EP and song. ITZY: Now I don't really want to talk about the song Girls Will Be Girls as I feel it is a song that is tough to have a productive dialogue on. I personally love it and think it is great but can entirely understand someone who finds it repetitive and bland. However, what is more clear cut is that the bsides are damn good. Anyone tired of the standard ITZY B-side formula, this album is for you. Some genuine creative risks and incredible commitment it to the sound and it pays off. TWICE: Oh TWICE, what can't you do? This might actually be in contention for their best year ever. They released two albums in two months and I consider both of them to be masterpieces. If This Is For the song is not your taste, don't let that fool you from the treasure trove that is the this is for album. A top three album of the year in my opinion. Then we have ENEMY. This album is simply just WOW. If you don't like TWICE's normal music, please listen to this Japanese album. it is nothing like any work they have ever done. I believe it is a timeless album with some real great artistry. NMIXX: Ofc, how could I forget NMIXX? It's not like they did anything good this year... EXCEPT for release the second best album of the entire year and arguably the song of the year "High Horse". I feel there are better people to talk about fe304: FORWARD and its brilliance then me so I will leave it at that but it really does not require much explaining. Conclusion: Yes, JYPE has had some fumbles this year, like NEXZ and VCHA's releases and just some ok stuff like Ceremony (although I will give credit the album is actually quite coherent and there are some really strong bsides), but overall, they have been having an incredible year music wise and JYPE and their groups deserve more credit. submitted by /u/SnooOranges829 [link] [comments]

ive been a kpop stan for five years now and just like any other fans, i also want to attend a concert one day and see my favs perform irl. my family doesnt like kpop but my parents dont mind me listening to them or buy my favs merch. but my older sister hates them so much and always makes fun of the idols (says things like "they look like girls" or "they are gay") or simply me for liking kpop. it upset me to hear those in the first few years when i got into kpop, i dont want anyone to disrespect what i like, especially if they helped me through a lot. now its been year already and i dont really care about what others say, even if my sister calls them gay now, id think "oh txt definitely do act like one" or if she says they look like a girl id think "yes beomgyu looks like a girl what about it". im going to my first concert this week and i was very excited until i overheard my sister talking to her friend on the phone about me going to a kpop concert. her friend said "put some sense into her head", i dont know why she would say that but it really upset me. is it that wrong to like kpop? submitted by /u/withinyourheart [link] [comments]
As a lot of you may know, RYM is one of the most popular music communities online and it’s a really useful site for discovering new artists and genres that would otherwise be hard to come across. It includes music from all over the world, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to broaden their spectrum or expand their playlist. I’ve personally been using it for over a decade and still find it extremely useful. Anyway, I was browsing the “Top EPs of 2025” list and saw that NMIXX’s Fe3O4: FORWARD EP ranked 16th out of thousands of global EPs released this year. I honestly wasn’t expecting a K-pop album to appear so high, so it was definitely a pleasant surprise. Scrolling further, I found ARTMS’ Club Icarus at 30th, Yves’ Soft Error at 58th, and Ten’s Stunner at 99th. It was really cool to see these names placed so high on the list since I enjoyed all of those albums a lot. Here's the link to the ranking if you wanna discover some great music from non-K-pop artists as well. That got me curious about how the rankings would look if I only included the K-pop genre and excluding everything else. Here’s how it turned out (note: certain Korean artists are excluded since they aren't "K-pop" in the most traditional sense): *All ratings are out of 5 (ex: 3.5 means 3.5/5) *I excluded EPs with fewer than 200 reviews (for sample size purposes) Top 100 K-POP EPs of 2025 (min. 200 reviews): 1. Fe304: FORWARD by NMIXX (3.57 out of 2k+ reviews) 2. Club Icarus by ARTMS (3.54 out of 2k+ reviews) 3. Soft Error by Yves (3.47 out of 2k+ reviews) 4. Episode 25 by Jo Yuri (3.42 out of 218 reviews) 6. Stunner by Ten (3.37 out of 318 reviews) 8. Glow Up by RESCENE (3.29 out of 631 reviews) 9. Bomb by ILLIT (3.27 out of 952 reviews) 10. My Name Is... by SAY MY NAME (3.28 out of 269 reviews) 11. Tilt by Irene & Seulgi (3.24 out of 675 reviews) 12. poppop by NCT WISH (3.25 out of 225 reviews) 15. Erlu Blue by ifeye (3.22 out of 239 reviews) 18. From JOY, with Love by Joy (3.16 out of 295 reviews) 19. Sweet Tang by ifeye (3.16 out of 266 reviews) 20. Only Cry in the Rain by Chuu (3.12 out of 1k+ reviews) 21. AIR by Yeji (3.10 out of 551 reviews) 22. Wait On Me by KAI (3.07 out of 237 reviews) 23. Accidentally on Purpose by Seulgi (3.05 out of 707 reviews) 24. BLUE PARADISE by ZEROBASEONE (3.04 out of 203 reviews) 25. A Flower Bookmark 3 by IU (3.01 out of 296 reviews) 29. Girls Will Be Girls by ITZY (2.96 out of 474 reviews) 30. HER by Minnie (2.93 out of 397 reviews) 31. GOLDEN HOUR: Part.3 by ATEEZ (2.91 out of 222 reviews) 32. 223 by KISS OF LIFE (2.92 out of 313 reviews) 37. Alivio by CHUNG HA (2.84 out of 364 reviews) 38. IVE SECRET by IVE (2.80 out of 385 reviews) 40. HOT by LE SSERAFIM (2.73 out of 1k+ reviews) 44. UNCUT GEM by KiiiKiii (2.69 out of 499 reviews) 45, We Are by i-dle (2.65 out of 394 reviews) 49. From Our 20's by fromis_9 (2.60 out of 360 reviews) 51. Amortage by Jisoo (2.57 out of 821 reviews) 54. IVE EMPATHY (2.55 out of 670 reviews) 62. Rich Man by aespa (2.41 out of 752 reviews) 67. MY EYES OPEN VVIDE by MEOVV (2.33 out of 266 reviews) 78. Color Outside the Line by CORTIS (2.19 out of 244 reviews) As you can see, there’s a huge discrepancy in review counts (ranging from 200+ to 2k+), which makes it even more impressive that certain groups with massive sample sizes are still holding strong scores. Lastly, let’s not downvote just because your favorite group’s rating looks relatively low, or because you think they deserve a higher ranking on the list. Ratings are subjective everywhere. Just because you feel one way about a release doesn’t mean everyone shares that opinion. All the EPs listed above are solid to great works. So instead of downvoting or getting defensive, please take this as a chance to check out groups you haven’t given much attention to. Let’s have a good discussion and appreciate the strong releases K-pop delivered in 2025. submitted by /u/GainImpressive8183 [link] [comments]

Hello, I am 18f and I am looking for preferably a female friend around my age to finally get healthy and lose weight. It would be of course important that the other person wants it too. But besides just focusing on my body and health I overall would love to have a friend to just talk to on a daily basis, motivate eachother, do exercise-challenges and send eachother k-pop diets and talk about them. I am not planning on shaming anyone for their weight, height or looks so I also expect the same twards me. So if you are a person who has been struggling with your weight and thinks that a person with the same problems could help you, feel free to DM me! :D submitted by /u/SortLongjumping4236 [link] [comments]
