After 2022 it's gotten virtually impossible for smaller ggs to hit it big

They always had a really low chance and received the shorter end of the stick but when 2022 hit, with the influx of well anticipated debuts and instant success groups from big 4 companies, smaller ggs got completely overshadowed. With fans flocking to these groups, smaller ggs who debuted before 2022 started loosing ground and smaller ggs that debuted during or after 2022 never gained it in the first place. It's no wonder it's been gg massacre for the past 3 years 2022 remains my favorite year in kpop,I still listen to a lot of 2022 releases and stan some of these successful groups, but I can't deny the damage it did to mid tier/nugu ggs. Prior to 2022 it feels like they had a miniscule chance but after 2022 it was killed. The only gg I can think of that started out small and went viral in recent years is 50/50 and we all know how that turned out. This was inspired by purple kiss' disbandment announcement. I was a purki stan for 3 years and they remain the only grp I stanned pre debut, which was because of their pre debut singles. They are the whole package kpop fans are looking for,but the truth is that often times they don't look outside the big 4 companies and don't come across the talent and diversity there is out there in kpop. Purple kiss had vocals, stage presence, dancing skills and also self produced. I didn't expect them to disband before the 7 year mark. I thought they'd hit 7 years and then disband. I didn't expect them to continue after, but I didn't expect them to stop at 4 years either. Tho with mamamoo, which is rbw's main source of income, being inactive for years and the rest of their artists not being big enough to compensate for their profit,I should have seen it coming. Rbw is not doing well and they're cutting their loses, even if it is at the expense of the fans and the idols themselves. Hopefully smaller ggs get a bigger chance to shine someday in kpop submitted by /u/Alive-Pitch-9180 [link] [comments]

2.315. How kiss of life was treated vs Tarzzan?

  • 3 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

ADP replaced KIOF at Kcon and we know what the driving force behind their removal was. Last week or the week before that Tarzzan got exposed for saying the N word and he hasn’t issued an apology, his label hasn’t acknowledged it and I see a lot of Redditors defending him. Compare this to how KIOF was treated, they even apologised multiple times. Tarzzan seems untouchable and unscathed, why is that? Is it Annie Moon’s money and influence or is it classic misogyny. Before anyone says “but it’s different” yeah you’re right, 1 livestream vs someone who’s been appropriating black culture since he debuted. It is very different and he seems to be getting away with it. He even turned up to kcon LA in corn rows . submitted by /u/DumbDumb1000 [link] [comments]

2.318. Stop being surprised that visuals matter in kpop

  • 3 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Kpop is selling a fantasy of perfection and yes that includes looks. They're literally called idols. There's plenty of music out there for people that don't care about visuals. I love kpop but I'm not delusional that my favs all got their jobs because they have the most talent, especially not when it comes to vocals. I'm not defending toxicity, I was raised that if you have nothing nice to say then you shouldn't say anything at all, but if all you care about is music and dance there's plenty of other avenues for you to pursue those interests. submitted by /u/tyrico [link] [comments]

2.319. What is the possible reason Why there are so many tours this year ?

  • 3 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Maybe I just have been paying attention to kpop socials last year or the years before, but it feels like damn near every group is having a tour this year. I've seen some people speculate that because BTS might be touring next year that labels wanted to hurry up and get their tours out before they get overshadowed, but I don't think it's that simple. Were these tours just overdue anyway ? submitted by /u/MochaMilku [link] [comments]

2.320. The only Korean about KPop is the industry based in korea that's all

  • 3 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Like the title said so basicly the only Korean about KPop is the industry and the groups is based in korea because let's be real here their training system come from Motown record a label that created the Jackson 5 and their Idol system come from jpop idol industry. there's nothing from KPop that uniquely them its all taking influences from other country entertainment industries most spesificly those 2 that i mentioned before. submitted by /u/Icy-Bass724 [link] [comments]

2.321. Should I organize my album collection by Size Order or Artist + Release order 👀

I know size order is more visually appealing, but the nagging feeling of the albums of different groups and eras all over the place is slightly hurting my mental health 🫠 submitted by /u/WilliamVII [link] [comments]

2.322. Bringing Back Formal Interview Greetings

  • 3 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I've been thinking about how a lot of new groups lack formal greetings (i.e. "One in a Million! Hi, we are TWICE!" or "Connect! Hi, we are ENHYPEN"). So, I tried to come up with some for new 5th generation groups. "Dusk to Dawn! Hi, we are All Day Project!" "Get up! Hi, we are RIIZE!" "Knock, Knock! It's BOYNEXTDOOR!" I would love to hear if you guys have any other ones that you've come up with for groups without greetings! submitted by /u/corn-in-a-can [link] [comments]

2.326. the hate towards the izna members golden performance

I keep getting video after video on my feed talking about their Golden performance, and dang people are being hella rude. im just gonna preface this by saying i dont stan them, and have barely interacted with any of their content I really just cant stand the hate toward these young girls. People were complaining about their lipsyncing and many comments people were making were "if u cant sing as an idol, then dont be an idol", "whyd choose a song they cant sing", "theyre just dancers atp", and other rude remarks. While to an extent this is true, because as an idol, yes, you should be able to sing live. These girls (to my knowlegde) are ROOKIES. I hughly doubt theur company allowed them to a) choose what song they wanted to sing, and b) choose to sing live or not. I fear this is just peopke trying to create a hate train for a new gg. The hate for Illit, Sserafim, and Itzy is dying down and now they need a new victim. It just hurts me to see how these girls are being treated for decisions they most likely didnt make. The first group I was introduced to was BTS, and that was my first (and for a while, only) ult group. Five years later I have many ult groups and I’m doing the teaching. I’ve been getting my friends into Xikers, it feels like a torch was passed (or I’m returning the favor since they taught me some as well). 🥹 submitted by /u/CeCeAlexus [link] [comments]
