104. Army donating to charity make me respect this fandom

Army's as a fandom have a lot of problems, but while any other fandom were trying to show how there faves are better than the other with crazy things some time, like they only drank water, when we don't really know what they drank, Army's spread donation links and donated to breast cancer organizations and actually helped people instead of only defending the members. submitted by /u/Expert-Clock-4066 [link] [comments]

109. more promo DOES NOT MEAN more success....

  • 22 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Many fans keep crying for the companies to give their Favs "MORE PROMO", "PLEASE PROMOTE THEM MORE", "These group will be successful with more promo", "companies wasted them by not promoting them" Sorry fans, but sad to say, having more promotion for ur favs doesnt not instantly makes them more successful! Yes, with more promo, they will be more people in the general public seeing their favourite idols more. However, do u think they are the only one promoting?? Audience can only see so much and focus on so little, and with every single artists being promoted at the same time when ur favourite idols are promoting, public can only focus on 1. Throwing more promotions is just going to throw money in wasted if ur favourite artist does not stand out from the sea of artists And do u know how much each promotion cost?? With every single money being thrown to promoting ur favourite artist, do the companies earn back the same money?? More promotion with little or no success can only make the debt of your idol bigger and deeper! So u want ur artist to earn even lesser? think about that!! submitted by /u/Lost-Reception-1136 [link] [comments]

114. kpop stans and their inability to stick to genuine criticism

  • 23 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

regarding the current w korea breast cancer awareness campaign, it all started with valid, well-aimed criticism towards w korea, the event organizer, for being completely tone-deaf. there wasn’t any actual awareness being spread on their socials, just clips of rich actors, idols, and influencers drinking, partying, and having fun. and sure, charity galas around the world work like that, but when you realize the event’s total donations over 20 years only add up to around 1 billion won (which is pocket change compared to the attendees’ net worth), it feels off. and to make it worse, it recently came out that the editor-in-chief of w korea, who’s also the ceo of the korea breast cancer foundation, might’ve donated the money to herself. so yeah, the initial outrage made sense. but as usual, the internet couldn’t stay focused. it quickly shifted from criticizing w korea to dragging the attendees instead. sure, it was insanely tone-deaf to have people dancing to a jay park song where he sexualizes women’s bodies /at a breast cancer awareness event/, but somehow the conversation devolved into slutshaming aespa for their outfits and fanwars about whose fave “behaved better.” “my fave only drank water.” “my fave didn’t smile.” “my fave left early so they’re morally superior.” it’s embarrassing. how can anyone take this discourse seriously? and then you’ve got the international stans who think having a korean idol as their pfp gives them the right to critique south korean citizens like they’re sociologists. some of the assumptions being made are just… wild. this level of parasocialism is genuinely scary. i honestly yearn for the day kpop stans learn how to participate in discourse in a level-headed, nuanced manner, but it’s probably not happening anytime soon. submitted by /u/JinnieP [link] [comments]
