I’m korean born and raised & I’ve always wondered why intentional fans seemed to have a complete opposite view on the entire new jeans situation compared to Korean / asian fans. Since the moment New Jeans spoke up against their company, the majority of Knetz have been openly sympathizing with them and showing endless support. To this day, New Jeans are absolutely loved in Korea & a lot of other countries in Asia and their music is still playing everywhere. Whereas it seems like the majority of international fans are absolutely disgusted by new jeans. I think the biggest difference I‘ve noticed is that most International fans are disturbed by New Jeans “lying about mistreatment” and “blindly supporting MHJ” whereas most Knetz have already disliked Hybe/BangShiHyuk and the way kpop industry operates especially because there’s been numerous lawsuits filed against big companies for blatant mistreatment and exploitation of idols since the past decade. International fans are stuck on the “They ignored us. I know this topic has been brought up a lot recently but I feel like a lot of people just want to police women. Katseye get a lot of backlash for their outfits and people say they're doing too much and being too sexy too early on in their careers. My main thing is that if the fandom is majority women and gays is it still sexualization? Why are people acting so controlling over how these girls are dressing and is it because people are puritans or is it just the controlling nature of Kpop fans that they hate to see these girls and women as autonomous beings? How is the boundary for sexy/sensuality vs sexualization drawn in these contexts? And should all the girls tone down being sexy because Yoonchae is in the group? I understand for Katseye people mostly bring up Yoonchae and they have every right to but what if she does turn 18 and starts to dress a little less conservatively? Why is it a big deal when most girls in the West dress like that? This is judgement purely made from someone who grew up and lives outside the West. I'm so confused as to the sudden change in how western Kpop fans suddenly care a lot about dressing when they walk out of their houses and see girls in the exact age range for Katseye dressed exactly like them.
