Does this drive anyone else absolutely up the wall? For some context it's when Kpop fans will 'steal' the spotlight away from creators. An example that I can think of right now is (yes ik it's Katseye not Kpop) this one dance tiktok of Danielle and Yoonchae to some Spanish song. They simply participated in a dancing trend, and now all of a sudden, because their tiktok was popular, SO many fans are claiming it's 'their' dance or they own this dance. They don't, someone else created that dance, but now because fans are so abundent and obnoxious about it, I've seen a lot of creators mistakingly tag them as the creators. And they've done this before with that one tiktok of Lara and Danielle dancing. It was so bad that every single tiktok of someone participating in the trend got bombarded with comments from Eyekons saying 'Lara and Daniella did it better'... like who tf asked you? It really pisses me off I guess it mostly just grinds my gears because I do feel the underlying hypocrisy of it all, because these exact fans will be the first to jump at people for forgetting to credit a kpop idol dance, or not doing it perfectly, even going as far as to mock people for daring to participate if the dance is not 99% accurate. It's Kpop fans that will 'cancel' very obscure and unknown artists (that most of the time probably do it intentionally for the free publicity) when they copy their artists, and then look the other way when their idols create songs with very obvious directional or musical influences (very often so undeniable because they're from worldwide famous songs). It's just so... hypocritical, I just can't get over it. I know the example is about something small, but even then I think this is something that needs more calling out. I find it very audacious of fans to go around and blatantly slap the names of idols onto 'trends' or dances and leave the actual creators in this place where god forbid if they complain about it, they shouldn't because "the idols gave them their fame" submitted by /u/Due_Improvement_5699 [link] [comments]
