Articles / Timeline 250422 This day marks one year since HYBE launched their audit of Min Hee Jin and ADOR's management. Happy(?) 1st anniversary of the Megathreads! 250502 The 3rd hearing for Min Hee Jin vs. Belift Lab was set to take place but postponed to July 18th at Belift Lab's request. Each side is due to present their arguments/documents regarding plagiarism issues at the next meeting. (Source: Maeil Kyungjae) 250530 We learned that ADOR had filed for 'indirect enforcement' after their injunction was granted and NewJeans performed at ComplexCon back in March (Filed on April 4th according to the statement from NewJeans' representatives linked below). On the 30th, the 52nd Division of the Seoul Central District court further granted this request. The 'indirect enforcement' ruling means that each individual member of NewJeans will be fined 1 billion won (approx. $725,000) if they continue with entertainment activities independent of ADOR, which would be in violation of the injunction. This enforcement with potential fines does NOT apply to any of NewJeans' independent activities between the granting of the injunction and the granting of this 'indirect enforcement'. These fines will only apply to future activities going forward, or at least until rulings with NewJeans' appeal or the main contract validity case changes anything (next hearing on June 5th). (Source: Chosun Biz, MK Sports) The Korea Herald: Court orders NewJeans to pay Ador 1 billion won for each unauthorized activity Discussion Post Korea JoongAng Daily: Court orders NewJeans members to pay ADOR $725,600 for every independent entertainment activity A statement by NewJeans' representatives was made later in the day primarily acknowledging the indirect enforcement ruling, but reiterating that it is temporary and will no longer have an effect if NewJeans win their appeal of the injunction. (Source: Ilgan Sports) The 2nd hearing for Source Music's damages lawsuit against Min Hee Jin took place at the 12th Civil Affairs Division of the Seoul Western District Court. (Quick recap: 1st was January 10th, 2nd was previously scheduled for March 14th, postponed per Source Music's request). Legal representatives were present. Source Music had a 20-minute presentation prepared, but Min Hee Jin's representatives objected to the inclusion of KakaoTalk messages in the presentation. They claimed the messages were illegally obtained and requested the hearing to be closed/private. Source Music denied the messages were obtained illegally, claiming they were gained from company devices with consent. The court went with a temporary compromise to keep the hearing public, but not allow discussion/display of the messages until they were reviewed again. A special hearing to review the messages will take place June 27th. (Source: Sports Today) 250605 The Seoul Central District Court Division 41 held the second hearing for ADOR seeking confirmation of validity for their exclusive contract with NewJeans. Only legal representatives were in attendance. NewJeans' side primarily argued that ADOR had not met their obligations and that their evidence they were preparing to support NewJeans' activities, like finding a new producer, was inadequate. ADOR's side argued that NewJeans' reasons for allegedly terminating their contract continually changed, indicating they are arbitrary and being made up with retroactive hindsight. The issue of some evidence being collected illegally also came up again from NewJeans' side. Judge Jung Hoe-Il specifically inquired if both/either sides were willing to come to an agreement, encouraging them to do so. NewJeans' representatives strongly indicated this was unlikely as the trust in ADOR had completely collapsed. ADOR's representatives indicated they could see negotiating an agreement once the court comes to a final decision. The 3rd hearing was set for July 24th. (Sources: X Sport News, Maeil Kyungjae) 250612 The next hearing regarding the Shareholder Agreement termination and exercising put/call options lawsuits between HYBE and Min Hee Jin was held at the Seoul Central District Court's 31st Division. Arguments from each side mostly re-tread what we've already covered. HYBE's side argued they were justified in ending the shareholder agreement due to the threat Min Hee Jin posed to the company. Min Hee Hin's side argued the timing of the audit/termination did not align purely with that concern and that some KakaoTalk messages and emails were obtained illegally and not admissable as evidence. HYBE also indicated they had a witness to give testimony at the next meeting, which the court accepted. The next hearing with closing arguments, was set for September 11th for both lawsuits. (Sources: Maeil Kyungjae, TV Daily, Sports Today) 250617 Following up from April 16th when NewJeans appealed the court's decision to uphold the injunction and halt on their independent activities, the Seoul High Court reaffirmed the earlier decision. The court rejected NewJeans' appeal. They determined there was no significant change in the material/arguments presented for the appeal and the original decision to grant ADOR's injunction was justified. There was further clarification that the management conflict between HYBE and Min Hee Jin, and her no longer being NewJeans' producer, did not constitute a valid argument for the alleged collapse of trust between ADOR and NewJeans. The group's withdrawal from ADOR is considered arbitrary, that their artistic freedom or activity is not impeded since they are able to do so within their exclusive contract, and that any damages resulting from attempting independent activities are self-inflicted. 3. My conflicted thoughts on Katseye from someone who likes them

  • 41 minutes ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I want to start by saying I was actually excited about Katseye in the beginning. They had a lot of hype, and I thought maybe this could be something fresh. But over time, the more I see, the more uneasy I feel —not because I “hate” them, but because I liked them at first and now I feel like the whole project has shifted into something that feels… off. Here are some of the things that bother me: Excessive marketing & propaganda vibes: The constant push through ads, influencers, and celebrities feels way too calculated. It doesn’t feel organic at all almost like we’re being told to like them rather than naturally discovering them. Music that even they don’t seem to love: The songs don’t feel authentic or tailored to the members. They often come across as satire/meme-like, almost rage-bait designed to get people talking for the wrong reasons. Even the group themselves seemed unsure in the beginning, almost expecting to flop, and then suddenly there was this huge switch with all the promotion. That felt very strange. Styling issues: Their looks and styling feel disconnected and sometimes forced. Instead of elevating their image, it often feels like they’re being used as mannequins for concepts that don’t suit them. Queerbaiting & overly political packaging: There’s this constant undertone of baiting queerbaiting, political messaging, identity marketing that feels less about genuine representation and more about leveraging these things for attention. It makes the group feel more like a product than artists. Ads everywhere: The amount of Katseye ads is overwhelming. The GAP one was great classy, clean, effective but then it just became too much. Instead of flooding us with overproduced campaigns, I wish they had gone the route of partnering each member with a different brand. That way people could get to know each member’s personality and individuality, instead of just pushing “Katseye” as this monolith. Marketing feels fake: I’m sorry, but it does. I prefer artists who build a foundation with their fans, who let their style and music grow naturally. Right now it feels like Katseye is being treated like influencers thrown together in a group, not musicians trying to carve out their own lane. Reality show baggage: Yes, the girls went through a lot during training, and I respect their resilience. But let’s be real a lot of people would kill for the same opportunity, and reality TV is always edited to portray some people as better than others. That’s just how it works, and it makes the narrative around them feel even more manufactured. Over-sexualization: This one bothers me a lot. They were first marketed toward kids/younger audiences, then almost overnight the styling and presentation became overly sexualized. It’s jarring and feels like they’re being pushed into extremes for attention rather than developing a consistent image. The music: I can’t sugarcoat it the songs just aren’t good. They feel like satire/meme tracks or rage-bait, designed to go viral for the wrong reasons. And I get the sense that even the members don’t fully love what they’re performing. The bigger picture: Everything about this feels like bait queerbaiting, political undertones, viral marketing instead of artistry. And that sucks because the girls themselves are clearly talented. I still like Katseye because of their potential, but I wish their journey was more organic. They deserve to grow as a real group, not as a product of marketing experiments. And that’s what really frustrates me. Because I do think the members themselves are talented, hardworking, and deserve better than being put in this kind of position. I feel like they’re being packaged in a way that doesn’t reflect them, and instead just uses them as bait to stir controversy and keep attention. I’m curious if others feel this way too. Did you also like them at first but then start noticing all these red flags? Or do you see this as just normal marketing in today’s industry? submitted by /u/LogComplete5617 [link] [comments]

  • 2 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I often see people posting clips from fansigns/videocalls where they'll ask the idol some variation of "How would you feel if I went to see another idol instead of you?" and they usually come back with the preloaded fanservice-y jealous response. Do they want you as their fan and does it make them happy you like them? Most likely. I don't think this part is an unpopular view. But the "Jealousy is a disease" response by fans to their answer is so parasocial. submitted by /u/trivialfrost [link] [comments]

8. What are some things you want to see more of during award shows?

  • 3 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I'm not a seasoned kpop fan, as in I've only witnessed in real time the award shows from the past 3-4 years, but I've gone back to watch older award shows from 2nd and 3rd gen and early 4th gen and honestly... they were more entertaining for the most part, even though some of them were on a smaller scale than current ones. It could be because I wasn't there to witness them first-hand so they were more interesting for me to analyze but I still feel like it's not just that. They just felt more lively to me, there was more happening... you could see idols' reactions a lot more frequently, memes, audiance reactions, idols' interactions, even fandoms being competitive and trying to out-scream each other kind of gave it a bit more of an entertaining element even though I don't support fanwars. But all those things combined definitely increased the thrill of watching a show for me IMO. I feel like it falls on the shows' producers too, like maybe in the past they were better at highlighting these things? It's a bit strange too because a lot of our faves interact all the time on tiktok videos/challenges and have fun together but I feel like during award shows they are a lot more subdued? I don't know, I feel like older shows had a bit more of a charm to them. So on that topic, what are some things you wish to see more often during award shows and what are some new things you wish award shows would incorporate? submitted by /u/silveraes [link] [comments]

9. SM Dem Jointz -> Starship Dem Jointz.

  • 3 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

It’s just a fun thought coz Dem Jointz is producing everything that is coming out of Starship building lol. True fans know how Dem Jointz has been a SM producer for the longest of time. Given us every damn hit song and legendary hits from almost every SM artists since 2015. For the people who don’t know him, he a grammy-winning legendary producer who have worked with Kanye, Dr. Dre, Eminem, etc and on some of your fav songs in Kpop — Cherry Bomb, Kick it, (hell almost every NCT 127 discography lol), Supernova, Obsession, Don’t Call Me, and the list goes on… NCT 127 music felt empty at one point without Dem Jointz producing it lol. Now it seems like SM has loosened the grip on its production team (jk). Dem Jointz started producing for JYP and Starship groups now. He even working with Hongjoong and Soyeon for their respective newer work/albums. This whole thought came up coz every song that is coming out of that Starship building in this whole year has something to do with Dem Jointz producing it lol. IDID, the predebut lineup of starship boy group is coming out and who the producer, can ya’ll guess? submitted by /u/Daddy1007a [link] [comments]

12. I don't get why Emma Myers is so hyped among carats

  • 4 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I don't get why Emma Myers get to meet and befriend seventeen and I don't think she "deserves" it. I can understand the interview with Joshua, since it was about promoting the show, but it really feels like she's using her celebrity status to get close to the members. IMO it doesn't come across as genuine fan love anymore, more like a shortcut that regular fans will never have. I get that she likes them, but the fact is that she's just an actor from a tv show for kids/teenagers doing some promotion in South Korea. There are plenty of Western celebrities out there who have expressed their love for kpop groups and may have gotten e.g. free tickets or merch from them, but I've never seen anyone meet said idols in private as much as Emma has. And yes, anyone who says they're not jealous is lying; we spend so much time, money, and energy supporting these groups, so it's completely normal to feel frustrated when someone seemingly gets special access just because of who they are. I honestly don't get the hype around her, though I don't have anything against her personally as an actor. submitted by /u/--turbulence-- [link] [comments]

13. how to completely detach myself from kpop stan twt/online

  • 4 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

so for context I have been a blink for like a few years and became a hardcore lisa stan since her solo debut era. Firstly, let me start off by kpop stan twt is super toxic and whenever I say hate tweets about bp or lisa it affects me so much(even though it shouldnt). Its like I have tried so many times to just be a casual fan of lisa(i listen to bp but lets just say i stan lisa the most) and follow if she or bp releases content but its literally hard to escape twitter and instagram lol. I open up insta reels and immediately a lisa or blackpink reel would have tons of hate comments while on twt its not new for lisa to get so many hate tweets(racism, slutshaming etc). And when you really love an idol, its so hard to not be affected by the hate they get even though in reality the idol probably herself or himself doesnt care lol. So i guess i am here to ask, how to really just stan the idols i like in peace without being tempted to go on twt/insta? like I have heard of ppl losing interest and how they become a casual fan but rly idk...i have tried to delete my twt account but keep on logging back lmaoooo but i guess for instagram it has been better cos I literally blocked lisa/bp members names so they dont appear on my feed fhjjsksksk. Anyways would be grateful if anyone could share their experience on becoming a casual kpop/idol stan without getting into fanwars and social media P.S i dont use reddit that much especially for kpop stuff/news but have heard that ppl here dont rly like bp lol but pls do share ur experiences abt this :3 submitted by /u/KaleidoscopeOk3356 [link] [comments]

14. Katseye not knowing Mariah Carrey's Music videos does not mean they are uncultured

  • 4 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

For context- In one of the interview for VMA, the interviewer asked katseye what their favorite Mariah Carrey music video is, since Mariah Carrey was the Vanguard of this year's VMA. The girls looked like they didn't know so the internet started calling them uncultured or tiktok influencers who don't know anything about music. But we are talking about katseye here, multiple members of katseye has wrote and produced alot of songs. Its obvious they love music and knows alot about it. Not knowing about Mariah Carrey's music video is literally not a big deal since the members are all born after 2000. You can't expect them to know about an artist from the last century. I personally only know 1 Mariah Carrey song, that is "All I want for christmas is You" as I was really young when Mariah Carrey made music, so I assume its the same for the katseye girls. Also lets be real, how many of you have watched a Mariah Carrey music video? (Only asking people born after 2000) submitted by /u/Odd_Entertainer9554 [link] [comments]
