Comparing Kpop groups to football team legacies

Admittedly, I probably know more about football than Kpop but I really think that some comparisons can be made in terms of how certain groups and teams performed during a specific time. Generally, I think Kpop and football (or sports in general) are more similar to each other than most people think. The fanbases, biases / favorite players and even competition to a certain level is present in both fields, which makes comparing them even more interesting. I don't know if anyone has ever thought of something like this before and if this subreddit is even the right audience for this but I just want to share my thoughts here, feel free to share yours as well! I would love to hear your opinions on this! BTS (2016-2023) & Real Madrid (2016-2022) Most decorated team (5x UCL in that time alone) / group (100+ awards and counting) of all time, global dominance, shaped eras. Probably biggest fanbases in the game and considered to be the most succesful team / group in their respective fields. Their influence spread worldwide and they are able to capture new fans (and haters alike) around the globe. BIGBANG (2006-2012) & Barcelona (2008-2012) Arguably the GOATS in their respective fields, many say this is where football / kpop peaked. Creative masterminds, innovation through creativity and once-in-a-generation performances. Messi and G-Dragon made strong arguments for their GOAT status in this time, cemented their legacies and shaped the game in their own way. Also very interestingly both happening in the same year, Barcas 2017 UCL combeack against PSG and BIGBANG's release of MADE in 2017 can be considered the single greatest performance / album of all time in football and Kpop. TWICE (2015-2023) & Bayern Munich (2012-2020) Longevity, consistency, always playing in the top tier and never missing. Absolute dominance domestically. They both have dedicated fanbases and just purely insane output and are mass producing success and results. Both of them are rarely in GOAT disucssions tho. BLACKPINK (2017–2023) & PSG (2017–2023) Star power, "Superteams", luxury brand image and marketing machines, but always the "what if" feeling of never reaching their full potential. Arguably the slogans "individualism over team chemistry" or "style over substance" can fit both of them. They have sparse discography / international titles and lack of consistency but pure elegance and flair in abundance. At their peaks and on paper they are able to produce extraordinary results. SEVENTEEN (2018-2023) & Liverpool (2018-2023) Built not bought, crazy tight team chemistry, arguably the most devoted fanbases and widely respected in their respective industries. Often seen as the "underrated" ones but regularly outperform the top dogs in of their times while making arguments to be the best during their peaks. They deliver performances through hard work and effort. All successes feel very earned and deserved. EXO (2013-2017) & Manchester United (2008-2013) Insanely high peaks, stacked rosters and amazing successes accompanied with global fandoms. Struggle with post peak identities in today's time, although still elite. During their peaks they could be considered the most dominant in their fields. LE SSERAFIM (2022-2024) & Arsenal (2022-2024) Stylish and modern. Still developing and building their legacies with no "major" wins under their belts yet. High potential for greatness in the future. They might be able to define the next era, but have to proof themselves on the global stage first. That's all I have so far. It could also be interesting to compare rivalries (Liverpool vs ManCity / BTS vs EXO) or individual players to idols. Also, I really wanted to find a good match for City's run in 2022-2023 but couldn't find a fitting Kpop example. Keep in mind, I don't try to hate or undermine the successes of certain groups here, it should just be a fun thought experiment that I would definitely like to explore further in the future. Let me know what you think! submitted by /u/Spheniscidus [link] [comments]

KPop Demon Hunters’ Songwriter Reveals Music And Song Inspirations One of the tracks written by EJAE and her writing partner, Mark Sonnenblick, has been getting a lot of attention for its sound and meaning behind the music. The song “Your Idol,” sung by The Saja Boys in their demon form, highlights the fandom’s obsession with them. She reveals the track was inspired by EXO’s songs “MAMA” and “Obsession.” EJAE recalls receiving the instrumental track from THEBLACKLABEL and executive music producer Ian Eisendrath with the EXO references and began working on the lyrics – with THEBLACKLABEL songwriters KUSH and VINCE. https://www.forbes.com/sites/laurasirikul/2025/07/01/kpop-demon-hunters-songwriter-reveals-music-and-song-inspirations/?utm_source=chatgpt.com submitted by /u/abraacadabrau [link] [comments]

2.982. I keep going back to watch blackpink's jump mv

It is so weird but idk why I want to watch it again and again. It's funny I can't help it🧍‍♀️. Plus the scene in the second chorus when everyone is vibing and stoping according to the beat, it's so satisfying. Also the cgi thing gives it dark color which looks cool but weird at the same time. Idk man I am starting to like the mv. I have never liked blackpink mvs that much cause of lack of transitions and uniqueness and their mv sets have always been pretty but This one is weirdly satisfying to me 😃 I always liked mvs with this ai concepts like this, aespa's supernova also had this weird ai thing and I liked it too. submitted by /u/Klutzy-Advisor2003 [link] [comments]

I am just a girlie excited to know their songs are inspired by Exo's music! As a kpop stan since 2008, my young heart is filled with joy that more older groups are getting recognized and having comebacks! And just how much kpop has grown since then! submitted by /u/naymerz9 [link] [comments]

2.984. Are you still searching for Summer Queens with vocal talent, high energy, visuals, and that nostalgic summer sounds? Stop searching. Its H1-Key.

As a fan from their very first concept photos to fully embracing them after their first Comeback (Run) with new member Hwieseo, I dont understand their nugu status. What do we have here? A 4-member group with a good name & concept (healthy girls, physically and mentally, that evolved into a nostalgic sound), and star quality training backgrounds. Main Vocalist Hwiseo was a Source Music (Gfriend, Le Sserafim) trainee, Main Dancer/Rapper Yel was a JYP trainee, and our two Lead Vocalist/visuals came from YG, Seoi, and WM (Oh My Girl & Izones Lee Chayeon) Riina. I've linked some solo performances if anyone wants to get a better idea of their individuality. Riina & Hwiseo participated in Queendom Puzzle, with Hwiseo winning first place and debuting in the project group. Imo, she secured her win with her opening performance of Tomboy. This came after their big hit with 'Rose Blossom'. Im a firm believer though that they have better songs and should not be hovering at 'nugu' level. I highly suggest any stage performance of 'Run' - my favorite of their title tracks and their stylist ate down bad with their sporty styling. Have we talked about their style? Please take a look at some of their concept photos for Rose Blossom. Urban summer fairies??? Im sat. After Rose Blossoms success they worked hard to establish a nostalgic sound that i think fits their voices so well, while still having fun and youthful songs to blend their energy and enthusiasm. They have 2 lovely lofi style lyric videos for Deeper and Thinkin Bout You, I honestly wish more kpop groups put out these kind of videos for the aesthetics and vibes. Then they had such a good string of high nostalgia summery songs. Two really stand out to me: Seoul (Such a Beautiful City) And Let it Burn And this leads me to my final point. Their current comeback has a mini album and they are currently promoting 2 songs from it, Summer Was You and Good For You. The rest of the mini album, like all of their music, has been a no skip album for me. I highly recommend their performance videos because their dancing is so high energy! They have really fun variety show content and YouTube content. Im happy to make any recommendations if anyone wants to know more. Happy Summer! submitted by /u/EatMoreMango [link] [comments]

2.987. Why do the girls' versions of survival shows take place first?

  • 3 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I noticed that every survival show series (that I know of) started with the girl group competition. Produce 101, Girls Planet 999, My Teenage Girl, Universe Ticket are all the first installments of series that went on to their boy group counterparts. Why does this happen? The only exception to this I can think of is I-Land, but that one's kind of weird because Enhypen and Izna aren't exactly sibling groups. submitted by /u/chesiredeservedmore [link] [comments]

2.991. TWICE has lost their identity ever since the eras after Between 1&2

  • 3 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Before i start: good for you if you don’t agree, i’m glad you’re enjoying all these new songs and i do too!! 😄 These aren’t bad songs at all, just not what i used to enjoy in TWICE. so, i’ve been a once for years, and honestly it hurts to see the direction they’ve taken after Between 1&2, which i absolutely loved. i know a lot of people describe these eras as more “mature” or “refined,” but to me, that’s when things started shifting, and not in a good way. every comeback since then (excluding solo work) feels like they’re moving further and further away from what made them so strong and unique in the first place what bothers me the most is how the bsides all sound like they belong to the same project. same production style, same vibe, no risks, no distinct personality. the days where each track had its own identity and still felt cohesive are gone. i’m thinking about tracks like Get Loud, Hot, Look At Me, Love Foolish, Up No More, Basics and so many other great bsides. even if you didn’t love every song, you could feel effort, diversity, and sometimes even bold choices. now everything feels too clean, too smooth, too predictable. it all blurs together and becomes forgettable and now we have THIS IS FOR. this album genuinely broke me a little. releasing this as their next full album after Formula of Love feels like a major step down. FOL had purpose, variety, and clear artistic direction. every track had something to say, while still fitting into a cohesive story. THIS IS FOR sounds like it was designed to appeal to a specific market, rather than express who they are as artists. it sounds like an attempt to replicate what’s trending in the US, or on tiktok in general. and by doing that, they lost what made them stand out. the bsides are weak. the title track is flat. the songs are short, with no bridges, no outros, no musical moments. i’m thinking of FILA, which had a disco instrumental break, or Cruel. Or even THE iconiiicc dance break in Likey. here we have nothing. not a single song is in korean (i think..?), and sorry but THAT MATTERS!!!. they are a korean group, and not including even one korean track, and especially involving very few korean producers and lyricists, is a huge red flag. it shows even more how hard they’re trying to target the US market at the expense of everything else. give these people work!! it’s THEIR industry, THEIR time to shine as KOREAN producers. Why do we give all the work to random men from LA?? like cmon i’m not saying they should never change. quite the opposite. i’m not asking for another Likey or Signal just for nostalgia’s sake. but i want to see them evolve in a direction that stays true to themselves, not turn into a generic pop group with no identity. this isn’t growth, this is dilution. they’re erasing everything that made them special just to reach a wider audience, that probably will not even stick around maybe i’m too nostalgic. maybe i care too much. but i miss their old title tracks. they were fun, LONG, impactful, full of presence. even the bsides used to surprise me. the last real TT that made me realize how amazing they are was Talk That Talk which was years ago. i don’t want them stuck in the past, but what they’re doing now doesn’t speak to me at all. and im sure im not the only one. it’s a cold, empty kind of evolution that i just can’t connect to i’ll listen to THIS IS FOR again, because i really do want to like it and appreciate it as a full project. but right now, i’m just disappointed. and yeah, i’m seriously considering unstan. not out of hate or anything like that, i genuinely adore the girls. but i don’t recognize the group anymore, and that’s hard to admit, because i truly believed in them. i love them as people, but at the end of the day, what matters most to me is the music. submitted by /u/aesponyma [link] [comments]

5 months ago, I posted that I will unstan Bae Jinyoung because I don't like how his tooth started to move forward and he wasn't doing anything to fix it. He used to have perfect teeth then it just started to look awkward when he smiles bec of that one tooth. Today, I found out he is undergoing dental treatment and wearing clear braces. I'm so happy he finally realized the importance of having well aligned teeth. It's a win for me and for him. In the future, if he decides to go acting, at least there will be no more snaggletooth that could hurt the actress/actor when there's a kissing scene. For now, he will focus on releasing music and performing, but he could also go acting probably after military enlistment in 2030 or something. I'm so proud of him. He is definitely my first Kpop bias and I will devote a portion of my life for his success. submitted by /u/ayexsenain [link] [comments]

2.994. WHY do companies keep writing titles like dumb clowns?

  • 3 weeks ago schedule

I do not understand all these companies keep writing album titles like they’re silly go-kid clowns. "The", "a", "to", "of" "on" "with" and "for", when used not at the start or end of a title are supposed to be lower caps not begin with an upper cap. That’s silly and dumb because nobody does that anymore, why do these Korean music labels (there are some I can think of) that still do this….this is a short one so I can’t be wordy submitted by /u/Culture_Novel [link] [comments]
