As the title says, Iām excited to see what direction or genre theyāll take. However, Iām also worried because once this group debuts, they will inevitably be compared to KATSEYE, which could lead to fanwars. In fact, itās already happening. Iāve seen people calling this upcoming group a āreject girl groupā or āback-burner,ā while others claim their management isnāt satisfied with KATSEYE, so they decided to create a new group. The comparisons and fanwars seem inevitable, but neither of these groups deserve that. I just donāt want public forums like Twitter to revolve around them being pitted against each other. I donāt want it to reach the point where, instead of appreciating their music, people are just pitting the two groups against each otherāarguing about who charted first, whoās better, and so on. What Iām hoping, at least to ease the tension, is for this new girl group to take a different direction or genre. submitted by /u/why_dmn [link] [comments]

Kinda controversial, but the music from hybe groups have started to sound a bit boring, safe and repetitive. I myself stan a hybe group so I promise I am not a hybe anti, I just wish Hybe would take more risk for their groups' music. I know hybe is capable of taking risk and when they take risk, the song ends up becoming a hit majority of times. They took a risk with Crazy and gnarly and they both are very big hits. Like beautiful stranger by TXT was literally deja vu 2.0. When TXT took a risk with sugar rush ride, a song that even the member's themselves didn't like much, it ended up becoming their biggest hit and brought alot of new fans. But all their releases afterwards did not have that "IT" factor and sounded very generic. submitted by /u/Gloomy-Eye9380 [link] [comments]

I've noticed watching different BTS content throughout the years that Jin pretty consistently brings up having no friends. I don't recall many specific examples but it's a theme that has persisted. He brought it up jokingly at an interview a while back and then discussed it more seriously in some other interview or show (can't recall where). Most recently he repeated this again in a Run Jin episode (the one where they were being launched into the pool off chairs). I guess he could be bringing this up to avoid talking about his personal life. He's the only one out of BTS that i've noticed repeat this. You can say so many other things when dodging personal questions but why does he stick with this? I'm sure he has close friends/family but maybe he means that he doesn't have a lot of celebrity friends? I understand that their schedule and fame probably makes others uncomfortable or shy to connect with them but it's kind of sad that he says this. I don't follow other groups enough to know their members. Is this a common theme among K-pop? It must feel really isolating. It's probably hard to find people they can trust and be themselves with at this stage in their fame. I am not a famous singer (lol) but I also have like 3 friends and nobody to talk or share stuff with sometimes. It's a struggle to make friends for regular people, it's probably so much harder for these idols. submitted by /u/rusalochkaa [link] [comments]
So my dream is to become a trainee in the K-pop industry except my parents aren't very open to it. I'm 15 years old and I live in France if anyone has any arguments or tips to help me that would be great! submitted by /u/Chiflocs [link] [comments]
Iām new to Le Sserafim and I recently found out that Kazuha did ballet. And I know like life isnāt a movie but do you ever think like late night sheāll sneak out to a dance studio and just like dance ballet (also first post here so nice to meet you guys) submitted by /u/MountainInsurance364 [link] [comments]
I came across some mentions of Changbinās wealth and immediately recognized his house from posts that circulated a while back about Chaeyeon and Chaeryeongās house. All of this is based on an Iz*One Chu episode where Chaeyeon filmed at her house, a selfie Chaeryeong posted (apparently, I canāt find the original source tho), and a clip from the Stray Kids show where Changbin showed his house. Similarities: - Floor plan - Pillar pattern - Tile pattern - Marble tile wall panels & mounted TV - Drawers in kitchen / dining area - Overall decor style including plants & plant pots, black leather couch, color scheme Differences: - Visible millwork / arch / encasement in front of pillar - Ceiling trim - Vaulted ceiling There is no way I am the first person seeing this, but I genuinely canāt find a single thing talking about it anywhere??? Either they all filmed at the same house and never lived there IRL, they are all secret siblings (lol), or their families live in carbon copy homes. submitted by /u/frigadora [link] [comments]
So ever since "Bad Desire" by enhypen came out, I fell in love with it cause if just sounded so familiar. It's been on my mind since then and I finally figured it out what it was. When I was younger I used to be a huge Belieber (Justin Bieber fan) and I used to love the song "As long as you love me." "Bad Desire" just reminds me so much of it. Can anyone do a mash up? submitted by /u/Roxanne_Brown [link] [comments]

(I don't want to make a lengthy post about this, especially since i don't actually think I have much of an opinion/feeling about this, but I will try say more if I actually think about it enough but I'm not tryna start anything, I just wanna see what people think!!) Do you guys think the debut of the new Hybe GG eventually down the line will lead to overwhelming comparisons to Katseye? I feel like fans start to compare them on things like concept, popularity, stage presence, etc but i hope it doesn't go down the route of toxicity, like any accusations of copying or replacement or even people claiming that they are riding off of the popularity of Katseye . I am interested to see what concept they decide to take on though and to see where it takes them down the line ! submitted by /u/midnightdancing12 [link] [comments]

The legal age in SK is 19 (international age), not 18. There are a lot of people who say all members in KIOF, Aespa, Super Junior, i-dle, and ATEEZ debuted as adults but they have members who debuted at 18, which is still a minor in SK. Blackpink and RIIZE are groups where all members debuted as legal adults in SK because all members were 19 and above at debut. Idols who turned 18 this year, such as Leeseo (IVE), Wonhee (ILLIT), Han Yujin (ZB1), and Donghyeon (KickFlip), are still minors in SK. Some 07 liners still go to school. Sure, 18 is the legal age in most countries but not all countries are the same. submitted by /u/radiant_Quartz47 [link] [comments]

Their concept is very much different from that whole girl next door concept while also being girlcrush so like "girlcrush next door", and that's exactly what we need in kpop right now. Their songs have been bangers. Their debut album had "BTG" which is one of the greatest kpop songs. KiiiKiii also has quite a big fanbase too for fifth gen groups. . submitted by /u/onlyeveryotherday [link] [comments]
References The rocket is definitely tying to when Jennie was with Grimes and was in front of a SpaceX rocket on IG. The rocket in the MV looks so much like a 2019 prototype version of SpaceX's Starship rocket. Also, Jennie by herself floating in a spaceship is like a shot in the film Gravity. A strong woman (pretty much only character) movie where Sandra Bullock is in space by herself after an accident. The movie very aligns with Mantra, ExtraL, and releasing the album on Womenās Day. One of the frames where Jennie is floating, the first time you see her whole body head to toe (not with her feet behind her). Similar to what some call the 'womb scene' in Gravity. Jennie very briefly in a similar angle at 0:27, thereās the same round hatch behind. The red curtains more directly illustrate the metaphor. Plus the way Jennie is floating out of control in the spaceship seems to reference the accident plot. Like the movie, thereās nobody else in the spaceship. Metaphors She doesnāt look happy. The tumbling seems to represent her mood from āhatersā raps about ātryna burst her bubble.ā āBut have you ever met JENNIEā sounds hurt but defiant. Sheās maximum isolated from humanity in her own (not Blackpinkās) space. Many of her fans want to escape and be her. Yet her perspective: she wants to escape by connecting to them through music. A moment for herself when she slows down and swallows the headphone. She literally āate.ā Dancing, making music for her fans: Thatās how she comes down to earth. Wild guess: I thought the effect on her eyes = changing digital perspective, from passive to action. Social media user to creator. Could the eyes effect tie to the AI line? Maybe sheās a ādifferent animalā like the capybara Coffin nails: death/rebirth Finally got this. I think there's symbolism that ties to the 'womb' metaphor. Plus two scenes where she implicitly 'dies.' Falling out of the spacecraft, And burning up in the end before turning into a capybara Both scenes also show Jennie 'reborn.' After falling out the spacecraft, she's shown on earth, making an entrance in the hangar. It kind of completes the metaphor story, her reconnection with fans is her rebirth. Showing the coffin nails close up seconds before the 'womb scene' underscores the death/rebirth theme. This theme of course fits the song about Jennie proudly being herself. Self-affirmation in a lonely time can feel like a kind of rebirth. submitted by /u/hyeran_jainros_fc [link] [comments]
I was thinking about this earlier... Itzy ARE being promoted well. It's just that news sites only choose to broadcast criticism and a lot of MIDZYS end up complaining about the girls not being treated well by the company because whatever they're doing gets overshadowed by it. Ignoring the solo activity imbalance: Yeji had her amazing solo debut, 'Air', which did extremely well with album sales. She also became the brand ambassador for a luxury french brand (roger vivier, iirc?). The only recent thing that jype messed up was by declining offers from ck using not accepting solo activities as an excuse even whilst other members were doing their own things. Lia has the most OSTs out of 4th gen female idols even with a year long hiatus Chaeryeong has hosted three variety shows, has done several solo cfs (binggrae, google ect) Yuna has her own youtube channel, is a muse and face for three brands (dynafit, naming, viewmap) and is about to debut in tvn's new drama next year, modelling opportunities, she gets special stages at the end of every year aswell Only Ryujin's activities, or lack thereof, are slightly questionable. I've heard a lot of Midzys try to justify it by saying it's to balance out popularity (which is 100% not true since she's not the most popular domestically anymore). Lots of fans say it's likely her own choice too, which is respectable The girls just sold out three venues for their fanmeetings in September/October super quickly, they performed in a nearly 50k (?) arena in Taiwan where literally everyone was screaming and holding lightrings, they had a huge collab with fc barca, they're collaborating with spice girls (well, only Mel & Emma lol) But it all gets overlooked (by midzys themselves sometimes, and by other stupid controversies). Anyway, just wanted to make this post because as terrible as jype is sometimes, they're promoting Itzy well as a group and also a lot as individuals. As a Midzy, it gets annoying how people have a narrative of the girls being in some kind of unpromoted dungeon when they're literally everywhere I just realised this was longer than I thought it would be š I'm just going to ignore the fact i've posted this twice before with horrible spelling errors consecutively ššš submitted by /u/Gold_Meaning3688 [link] [comments]
When my wife and I found ourselves with a long layover in Seoul, South Korea in early April, we assumed that we knew enough about the phenomenon of Korean popular music to go see the girl group IVE perform its Third Fan Concert at the KSPO Dome, the capital cityās 15,000-capacity Olypmic gymnastics arena. We went into our crash course in K-pop curiosity expecting to find familiarity amid the inevitable differences. We left feeling bewildered and fascinated and alien, like unwitting impostors on the verge of being outed. At every step along the way, our evening at IVEās Third Fan Concert in Seoul was a jarring reminder of the worldās vastnessāof just how much we didnāt know. Read the full story here. I haven't been active in any fandom in years and was pleasantly surprised by the recent developments since their return from the military. Since then a lot of things have happened and one of them being Jimin's privacy being invaded (the video that released today) That particular subreddit has been active and raving about it since the morning and it's honestly disgusting. People over there are clearly on some sort of drugs?? I'm in med school and this type of behaviour is clearly dubbed as a mental illness. I scrolled through some posts and it's pretty much the same thing over and over again. They have come up with some disgusting takes and the way they call out the members of the group by really gross names was terrible to read. A subreddit like that deserves to be banned. Hate like that shouldn't be normal anywhere. This applies to pretty much any snark subreddit of any other group. This is insane. People are entitled to have a view but not to the point it's just blind hate. Because God damn what is wrong with those people?? How can someone be so full of hate? It was gross and honestly made me nauseous. I hope whoever they are seek help and genuinely get better. Because hate like that is horrible. I genuinely hope they find peace and get a life. submitted by /u/mewmew0012 [link] [comments]
