i know the title is a bit inflammatory, please read before getting defensive lol. i've been a big supporter of SM groups since 2011 when i discovered SHINee, i stanned primarily mostly their groups until around when NCT debuted (as the concept was never my thing). i like aespa and their music a lot, i'm mostly speaking from experience as a former sm fan who's watched their groups come and go. i was looking through my own comment history and saw i responded to a post months ago, predicting that sm would give up on aespa once H2H took off or a member got into a scandal, in the same way RV was supported right up until irene's scandal slowed them down and then the explosion of aespa's "next level" the following year put the nail in the coffin for their consistent, proper funded promotion. i don't think i need to detail what aespa's recent scandal is lol, but we can all see karina catching criticism and derision from both korean and international fans, so my point is: this next comeback Has to be a smash hit that is enough to outweigh that, or i cannot imagine sm investing much more time and money in them going forward. if there are songs and concepts planned and written to be theirs now, they will be poached for H2H in the same way certain RV title tracks seemed clearly fx coded. fx and rv did not have long, drawn out shelf-lives as groups. sm doesn't allow it with their girl groups, for whatever reason. they're not great with their boy groups either, as we can see with how there are already talks of their new bg when RIIZE has already kicked their scandal-member out, but they're Terrible about it with ggs. if Dirty Work isn't topping the charts and spinning out lots of tiktoks and engagement, i can't see them doing much but pulling all their focus into H2H and the upcoming new bg. i don't say this with glee to see it, don't get me wrong; i think aespa fills a really unique niche within kpop but unfortunately i have had hope for sm too many times and been disappointed just as many times, i can't expect anything different. i guess the point of this post is to say that if you really like aespa, or you're a MY and you want them to keep releasing like they are now, y'all as a fandom really gotta step up and show numbers this time especially. if the public doesn't like this one that much, it might be the end of aespa's golden years and the start of their limp into sm's dungeon. submitted by /u/toastyhyun [link] [comments]

20. People keep defending NJZ saying “they’re just speaking up, why do u hate them?”

Wellllllllll first of all they practically cheered their fans on as they sent other groups like Le Sserafim and Illit de@th threats, not only that but also met with a twt user, their fan, who is very well known for being disgustingly hateful towards Illit and Le Sserafim along with other groups. They knew this btw. And then there’s people saying “they’re just children” Unnie line are in their 20s and would mostly be in college or uni by now, maknae line are almost both legal adults, Hyein is 17 but she should still know what she’s doing, however she is young and the older members seem to kinda be dragging her along with them but that’s not the topic here. They have now gone against the law and the courts orders multiple times and have been warned accordingly and yet they keep doing it repeatedly. It’s genuinely as if they’re convinced the world revolves around them, everything is about them and nothing and no one else matters. I wouldn’t be mad if Hybe disbanded them. They’ve been warned by the court and yet continue to break the law, Hybe has every right to terminate their contracts. “Hybe mistreated them” Hybe spoiled them. Heejin groomed them to think it was all thanks to her, and to hate Hybe, while they got some of the best treatment among all the Hybe groups. While other groups were being overworked, starved and deprived of sleep, Newjeans were prancing around doing whatever they wanted with no consequences, and they seem to think that just goes in the real world as well. I am so done with them and honestly I sort of am starting to hate them. ENGENES, FEARNOT, ARMY, MOA AND CARAT SUPPORT ILLIT 💘 submitted by /u/Funny_shit_ig [link] [comments]

22. Into the Music S9 Episode 23 - Sapphire of Music

╔══════════════╗ Hey everyone, I hope you all had a good week. I know my week was pretty good as June opened up with some new tunes added to my playlist. We're getting a little closer to Summer, so I've been playing my Summer songs and listening to them a lot this week. I've also been getting ready for the ITZY release next week which I know will be on repeat for me. Nowlet's jump into the music and see what the artists have delivered. ╚══════════════╝ https://preview.redd.it/gopo6v2ygj5f1.jpg?width=1536&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d04b17ae194b82e17fb1343a7c46ff547b961faf Korean Releases of the Week: June 2nd Spit Like This - Yumewanaii & SUSKI Yumewanaii is back with a new track as she teams up with SUSKI for this new single. CHRIS GUARDY teams up with Yumewanaii and SUSKI for the production. The backing track goes hard fitting the rapping that the rappers bring to the table. I love the flow that Yumewanaii brings to the table as she blends wonderfully with the vibe. I don't know who SUSKI is, but they fit the overall vibe perfectly adding to the mix with their flow. The hook is pretty catchy as I've returned to this tune a few times this week. https://preview.redd.it/b4pfb2e6hj5f1.jpg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d20a6ca629a6cb631e52749d91991ab38871e4b0 ━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━ GROSS - HITGS HITGS is back with a new single which opens with some bouncy synths that blend with the sweet vocals. The verses flow pretty well, but I will say while I like them they sound a little weak. The hook isn't bad at all, but it's not as catchy as what the group delivered during their debut single album. I feel like this new single Gross is a bit of a step down from what they delivered with sourpatch and Never Be Me. I just hope the group returns with something a bit better than what Gross delivered. I will also say I can still listen to Gross, but it's not my overall favorite. https://preview.redd.it/2rf8ve0chj5f1.jpg?width=610&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7da57fac33e3c008c82c6f03a2fb5e9c377515e8 ━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━ June 4th Love, Killer - STAYC STAYC is back with a brand-new Japanese track that has production from HONEY NOISE, Brown Panda & Ayushy. Synth opens up the song as the sweet vocals from STAYC come into the mix. The verses have this tapping vibe that blends with the synth. The pre-chorus transitions wonderfully into the hook that has been growing on me the more I've been hearing it this week. The vocals from the members are excellent as they fit perfectly with the overall vibe. I also find the verses to be smooth as they help move the tune forward. "Love, Killer" is still growing on me, but I find it to be another great tune in the Japanese discography of STAYC. https://preview.redd.it/5886v5sghj5f1.jpg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d9742177182b4ab38b071ef1070437e2924d8a4a ━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━ Non-Korean Releases of the Week: Sapphire - Ed Sheeran Ed Sheeran is back with the third single from his upcoming album Play which I've been excited about. Ed comes in with some sweet vocals that blend with the synth. The Indian vibe comes into the mix during the explosive hook. The overall instrumental sound is different from anything Ed has ever created, and it works exceptionally well. The bridge is packedwith emotion that blends wonderfully. Sapphire gives off this hopeful vibe while showcasing a happier side of Ed whichwe haven't seen in a while. https://preview.redd.it/3yw772ilhj5f1.jpg?width=700&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7910d423975be7c45d72c29b65a63f415d975c79 ━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━ Weekly Lastfm Roundup (May 30th - June 5th) Artist: Twice https://preview.redd.it/dp1hdujphj5f1.jpg?width=266&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=93989b9e0dd31bc4e970bd20e04a127fc8d9afce ━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━ Album: Live to Learn - Clayton Johnson https://preview.redd.it/csk80l2rhj5f1.jpg?width=225&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=de6d6fe4ef24301f75e63f8905405dca7b9d3b85 ━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━ Song: 気まぐれロマンティック - Nayeon https://preview.redd.it/99goo2gqhj5f1.jpg?width=1128&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2dfa7bcf1c79495b915cb4ec5250717403436b83 submitted by /u/Maltifandom23 [link] [comments]

25. Ive's music doesn't hit as hard as it used to

  • 6 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I really miss Ive's debut year in terms of sound. They had this dreamy addictive sound and chaebol concept that really fit them going on,which is the reason they stood out so much amongst 2022's harsh gg competition. Looking at songs like love dive, you can instantly tell why they were such big hits. Love dive had everything it needed to be the generation defining hit that it was. Addictive melody, super catchy killing parts and an overall really dreamy sound as well as stunning visuals. Their recent releases have been quite underwhelming in my opinion. I'm not saying they're bad,ive has never released a genuinely bad songs, they just don't push me to listen to them again. I check them out,I go "oh that's a decent song" and then never listen to it again. They've lost the elements that drew so many people to their music and made their early songs so good. I'm well aware they're still doing extremely well in sk,but I feel like internationally, they'll less talked about and this is the reason. I'm not saying they should release love dives for the rest of their career, that's impossible. I'm all for artists experimenting, but they should do that while keeping what made their music so addictive in the past. I kinda feel like their music direction has been all over the place since last year. I'm personally here for wonyoung, which means I'm a solo stan and I'll continue supporting for her,but I definitely think they could pull a love dive again and the song becoming just as successful submitted by /u/Alive-Pitch-9180 [link] [comments]

32. Katseye’s Gnarly remix is bad

  • 7 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

In my opinion, the remix to gnarly, specifically the one with ice spice, is bad. I am sorry. If you like it, that's great, but I have heard better flows and lyrics. It's disappointing because Ice Spice isn't known for even being a good rapper and they set Katseye up by giving them her. I am confused. Genuinely. It has been out for a few days now and barely anyone is talking about it. I don't see people streaming it like crazy or anything. I think Ice Spice's lyrics are objectively bad. I am sorry if this has already been stated, but I can't deal with it anymore. I used to love listening to rap back in the day, but now it sounds cheap. Especially since people like Ice Spice came. I remember when it was BIG thing for rappers to featrued on other songs. I remember when Nicki Minaj would make a feature, and would change up the entire flow or add something different to the song. When I listened to Gnarly remix with Ice Spice, it didn't feel like she added anything to the overall song. She did not change her flow or do anything different. Is this the future for Katseye? I couldn't even stay to listen because I thought it was so bad. It can't just be me. submitted by /u/Embarrassed_Love7360 [link] [comments]

33. Only IU and Taeyeon stays in the game of female soloists

  • 7 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

From Nayeon’s Pop! dance, memes, moments to lucky money agenda and everything was so good. I think all of those happened without JYPE except the announcement that made the hype. That era made me realise that only IU can have longevity as female soloist while Taeyeon stays quite relevant too. Other than them, most faded after some eras. Sunmi was a special case because she lasted as successful lady for like five eras. Chungha was so unfortunate to be ended up as two eras wonder. Hwasa’s Twit and Maria were big but after that she declined. submitted by /u/leonardreignn [link] [comments]
