I understand that in today's day and age, it's very hard to think of parts of songs that haven't been done before by someone one way or another, but I find myself missing when every single Kpop song that I heard didn't use a (most of the time very well known too) sample that just makes me want to listen to the original song more than anything. I get it, the company has bought the samples (most of the time atleast) so they're not actually doing something wrong, but it does bother me the slightest bit. I also just think that the samples very often are incorperated quite lazily. They buy the sample, slap a bit of lyrics as a prechorus before, and then just use the sample as 'the beat drop' and 'highlight part' of the song. Just now, Babymonster's "we go up" (for which I haven't figured out from which song the sample is exactly but it's so recognizable), Blackpink's "Jump", Illit's "do that dance", Enhypen's "Bad desire", Lisa's "Rockstar"... Then again, we can also make the point that this is happening a lot in the western music market. Atleast Kpop artists (so far atleast) haven't gone the 'David Guetta (ft. Bebe Rexha)' way of just straight up ripping off old club classics and making terrible remakes of them' (that for some reason get radio play?). Personally I've really got two favorites right now, ArtBeat and NPHER ArtBeat has so many amazing dancers and they post so often that you'll never run out of fantastic dance covers, not to mention they even upload some other fun content! Some of my favorite dance covers of theirs: Whiplash , Toxic , Killin It Girl NPHER I only discovered recently but they deserve so much more exposure!
