482. Update: got so many fun K-pop gift ideas last time, need more suggestions 💜

I posted here earlier about what I could do for my K-pop best friend’s birthday, and everyone gave me such creative ideas. Some said to dress up as her bias and do a short dance cover, others suggested making DIY merch or even K-pop themed cookies. Now I’m honestly inspired to try something really fun, but I still can’t decide if I should make something cute she can keep or something funny that’ll make her laugh. If anyone has more unique K-pop gift or surprise ideas, especially ones that real fans would actually love, I’d really appreciate it.❤️ submitted by /u/RealArmaan [link] [comments]

493. How do you think itzy could gain their old fanbase back?

In my opinion sneakers wasn't a bad song, it was just tricking the audience with the concept. However this such little thing killed their hype and started their downfall which in my opinion, was unfair because Itzy are very talented and each member genuinely works very hard. Their "love myself" and confidence concept was what got them a lot of attention along with their noise sound. After 2021 it seemed like people started to get bored of that sound and demanded different sounds and concepts. In 2022, NewJeans, Ive, Le Sserafim debuted which all were girl groups with different sounds, concepts and songs. This is one of the main reasons their downfall happened; Newjeans brought a fresh sound with y2k concept and they got everyone's attention. Ive had a royal concept and they had one of the best single/title track runs with Eleven, Love dive, After like. Le sserafim may had lost Garam but they released Antifragile after debuting with Fearless which definitely helped them maintain the popularity and even expand it. They also had a brave/fearless concept. So, Itzy's concept felt too repetitive or boring for the audience. They tried different things throughout the years after their downfall, born to be was bold and something you would hear from Blackpink, but it didn't do like their previous songs. imaginary friend was really amazing and very different from what they usually release. But it didn't get the enough recognition that it deserved. Even one of the members mentioned it, saying they wish it got more attention. Their album sales are stable and pretty well, but on streaming platforms they don't seem to show the same amount of success as they did before. The reason to this is, when they were trending (before their downfall) it was all the kpop fans being tuned in for their comeback. Not shy, wannabe, loco, mafia, dalla dalla, icy got very big recognition from the gp and 80% of the kpop fans were casual listeners. They had more casual listeners/fans than loyal fans, which was a disadvantage. And now after the downfall, what they have right now is their loyal fans/stans. That's why album sales are good, but it's always the same people tuning in for their comebacks without the majority of gp's support. They released gold which sounded like Nmixx's first year releases, and it didn't really do well. Girls will be girls, their latest release had a very good music video and it sounded trendy. It did okay, but still not the way they did before. Is their music that bad? Actually, no. their bsides are AMAZING, but title tracks need to be the very catchy and well so it could catch attention for them to do well. People won't check the bsides of an album or ep if the single or title track is bad. So, how do you all think they could gain their audience back? submitted by /u/Artistic-Network-247 [link] [comments]

494. Key and NCT wish's concepts and album designs are truly a breath of fresh air

Out of all the releases this year, my favourite in terms of concept and design have go to be Key's hunter and NCT wish's Poppop and colour. With the variation in design and the unique and quirky versions of each album. My personal favourite of Key's albums is the retro trilogy with Bad love, Gasoline and Killer. Each one had a different retro theme built on nostalgia that Key had for his childhood. Bad love being sci-fi, gasoline horror/fantasy and Killer a retro video game. What made each album even better was how the album versions all linked to the concept. Each album would have a standard photobook version of course. Bad love had one version that looked like a cereal box, one that looked like a toy gun in packaging and one made to look like a VHS/Cassette, all link quite closely to the retro sci-fi theme. Again with Gasoline there was a VHS version and a floppy disk version, and with Killer there was a dvd box version, a version made to look like a mini arcade machine and one that looks like a retro handheld video game console. That doesn't even include the rest of his albums. He truly is incredibly innovative with his album designs and we are definitely beginning to see more and more groups and idols have similar ideas with album design, not only within SM but outside of SM as well. Key's creative input into his work truly pays off and he definitely deserves way more praise for his art than he's currently getting. One group I do think we can clearly see has taken some inspiration in the way of unique album versions is NCT wish, and even then they're doing rather innovative stuff. They had their Wichus which are a huge hit, they sell out crazy fast and stores that have wichus don't tend to have them for that long with how popular they are. And now we are starting to see a few groups copy that idea with their own plushes released as album versions (Which imo is much better because you get more for the price you pay, instead of having to buy a plush seperately). And you can't talk about Wish albums without mentioning the cute keychain made to look like a tamagotchi. Of course a lot of this we have Boa to thank for, as she is the creative director of Wish. WIth NCT wish I do believe they are criminally underrated as a group in general. Their concepts are fresh and exciting, they're very age appropriate and its unlikely that they'l change the concept anytime soon since the members do in fact love the concepts they have. Not only that but the vocals are amazing and Jaehee is shaping up to be one of the best in the 5th gen. In conclusion, i honestly think Key is incredibly innovative with his concepts and album designs and is definitely the King of Concepts. NCT Wish are just a breath of fresh air in a music landscape dominated by louder sounds. submitted by /u/sunflowersandpears [link] [comments]
