48. hot take (?) groups with good vocals are more likely to sustain their success than those who don't

  • 10 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

a kpop group with weaker vocals, i think, is less likely to maintain their success. at the end of the day, the only thing pulling lost audiences back is vocals. Forget marketing and the rest, when all else fails, vocals are the only saving grace of a group. for example, itzy. itzy was so popular when they debuted it was actually stupid, but i think it was apparent even back then that itzy didn't have great vocals. Even their main vocalist lia, and i know a lot of people love her vocal tone and such, just doesn’t really qualify as a main vocalist. she’s a main vocalist purely because the rest of the group is so poor vocally. itzy had massive initial success, but as the quality of their music dwindles, so does their popularity. that hit an all-time low with sneakers. from there, their talents vocally just couldn’t justify their success anymore. basically, when the quality of their music goes down, their talent can’t back it up. but if you look at aespa, i remember they genuinely tanked their already weak popularity with the release of girls. but they bounced back somewhat with spicy and went on a hot streak from drama to whiplash. i believe a large part of that is due to how listenable they are. and i really believe that the only reason they even made it out of their initial gimmicky releases was because of how listenable they were. when the quality of their music finally caught up to their talents, their popularity skyrocketed. the only reason why i compare those two groups is because i stan itzy and it hurts me when i look back at how massive they were in the early 2020s. i curse jyp everyday bro for killing their career. how could you have 3 superstars in yeji, ryujin, and yuna all i one group and still fail. it just boggles my mind. i always wonder if they had just one super strong vocalist, like a lily or haewon, would they still be as big now as they were back then? i don't know if what i wrote is coherent to read through but give me your thoughts cause i really want to know if people agree or just think i'm hella delusional. submitted by /u/Civil_Obligation_555 [link] [comments]

51. Now that nj will continue their contract with hybe , what are your thoughts on the whole case

  • 11 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I would just like to say that bunnies reaction is so wrong . They are saying that " hybe paid for it" and " money talks" , LOL , no one paid no one ,did you really expect nj to win the case with way less evidence than hybe , and breaking many rules . This case ruined so many careers oh my gosh. I'm seriously HOPING they leave in 2029 after their contract completes and they will still support mhj . Yes I stumbled upon a nj reel as my whole feed is full of the news . The comments said that they still support mhj because " she understood the girls " SYFM submitted by /u/yejioooo [link] [comments]

52. Seungcheol from Seventeen got his arm pulled by a fan at their concert tonight

  • 11 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I wasn't there tonight however my friend sent me two videos, one of this girl pulling his arm and the other one is of her face. Fan etiquette is genuinely insane recently, I just don't understand why HYBE is constantly shitty about seventeens security and stuff. Anyways, if anyone knows her socials (not her real name or anything, don't doxx her) please let me know. Also no fanwars please, this obviously doesn't represent all carats and I didn't post this so people could fight about the fact that "xyz fandom would never." because thats just not true and their are fans who go too far and every fandom. I wanted to post this to show how scary shit can get (even if she didn't genuinely hurt him) and I also wanted to know if anyone knew her socials because as you see in the second video, they don't kick her out and I'm pretty sure she mouths the words "I'll leave" submitted by /u/jks_jellyfish [link] [comments]

54. Your fave or most creative items included in Kpop albums?

  • 11 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

What are some of your favorite items included in physical albums? What do you think are the most creative or most impressive? What would you love to see in future albums? Anything actually useful? What ones did you think were totally silly? I've seen albums include a camera, a CD player, a compact mirror, stamps, fuzzy keychains, a bag from different groups! I personally loved the mirror included Irene's album and the camera in Illit's last year! Newjeans' tote bag was also super creative when it first came out! I thought it kinda opened the door to include different items after. I feel like those were the most useful! submitted by /u/panyang77 [link] [comments]

56. Feeling less scared about growing up because of kpop.

  • 12 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I’m about to sound to insane right now but I feel like I’m less scared about growing up because I know I have my kpop boys beside me. when I first got into kpop, I was 11 turning 12 and since then so much has happened to me but I had once stable thing in my life. k-pop. since 2021, I went through so many losses, so many friends, so many places but I always felt less scared watching going seventeen or even listening to a song. Being 11, I thought ni-ki from enhypen was old enough, & even though he was my ult I never understood why people babied him but when i turned 14, I understood. he was barley a teenager. he was just figuring himself out but he had to do it infront of the whole world which is so so scary, I can’t imagine being 14 and withstanding all that pressure. yet somehow, knowing he endured all of that gives me hope. That whatever I’m going through will pass as well & I think that’s beautiful. Even if this is a phase, I don’t care. I’m just happy I have someone to spend my youth with💌 submitted by /u/StatusEngine9804 [link] [comments]

57. Has anyone else's fandoms had cases of fans, particularly EA fansites, getting harassed by American venue security?

  • 12 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Don't necessarily know how comfortable I am of rehashing the details even if they were shared by the fans who experienced it publicly themselves, but I think it's worth talking about. the short of it is, at the last few stops of SVT's US tour, a handful of fansites of a few different members have been saying that they were reported to security for being stalkers. They weren't permitted to negotiate/clear it up with the secu at all, and said to have been physically hit by the guards as they were escorted out. It's not clear why they were reported or how they were even recognized. Some ppl are saying that because professional cameras aren't allowed on the venues, which these fansites use, they open themselves up to discipline, which has some sense to it, but that doesn't excuse the use of violence to me, nor how seriously it was taken over other incidents that DO occur at the concerts. I know fansites can be somewhat contentious even if they aren't saesangs(and to be clear, these fansites WERE NOT sasaengs and are actually on good terms with the artists), but in the first place it's a bit strange that they're getting reported without proof, and I don't think that some level of racial profiling isn't involved for it to be taken at face value. Like, you can't know that they aren't good fansites but you also can't know they're sasaengs? What pushes me to suspect profiling is some American fans also attending said that they overheard security gossip about the EA fans passing by wondering if this or that one stuck her camera up her skirt, and they taking pictures of their faces/following them around. Here's the case that made me make this post: at the CapitalOne arena in DC, [Sexual Harassment Warning in spoiler] a fansite said she was subjected to a full body patdown despite not having even her camera and passing the detector scanner, and they even had a female security officer called over to look up her skirt because she was wearing a sanitary napkin. She wasn't even allowed in the venue after all that. The secu apparently had her picture and were following her to take more. This is the last stop so the fan said she was relieved she could at least return home to recover, but that is an utterly awful experience to be subjected to. I'm putting this out here to ask if anyone has experienced or seen people EA fan or otherwise talk about anything like this in the US, for kpop or otherwise. Regardless of how you feel about the grey area fansites occupy I don't think it is an unloaded act for intl-fans to report without proof of wrongdoing, and worse that the venue security would treat anyone like this. It's the kind of power trip I thought was reserved for cops and TSA. American fans are advising the fansite to file a harassment report. Adjacent question: how does security tend to work for these overseas tours? The artists have bodyguards from their own compangly, but neither they nor the kpop companies manage hiring secu of the greater venue I don't believe? Does responsibility belong to the organizers? The venue? A security company? submitted by /u/SomeRaceHorseName [link] [comments]

63. [DISPATCH] Min Hee-jin's name appeared 104 times - The name that held NewJeans back

  • 12 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

→ NewJeans' claims are the result of Min Hee-jin's prior work. → Min Hee-jin is not the key man of the exclusive contract. → Min Hee-jin's actions were not to protect NewJeans. → Min Hee-jin had the intention to take NewJeans and become independent. → Min Hee-jin reconstructed the situation of Hanni's 'Ignore them'. The name Min Hee-jin was repeatedly mentioned. The issue of breach of contract under the exclusive contract was Min Hee-jin, the start of the public opinion war was Min Hee-jin, the misunderstanding of 'Ignore them' was Min Hee-jin. The name Min Hee-jin was mentioned a total of 104 times. NewJeans' escape plan, attempt, failure. The 'key man' in the year-long fight was Min Hee-jin. On the 30th of last month, the Seoul Central District Court Civil Agreement Division 41 (Presiding Judge Jung Hoe-il) ruled in favor of ADOR. It is essentially a complete defeat for NewJeans. NewJeans demanded termination of the contract on the grounds of: ▲ a management vacuum due to the dismissal of Min Hee-jin ▲ damage to NewJeans' uniqueness by 'ILLIT' ▲ non-response to the leak of trainee videos ▲ disparagement of NewJeans' achievements ▲ and album pushing. The court did not accept any of NewJeans' more than 10 claims. 'Dispatch' checked the court ruling. We revisited the key judgments. Nowhere in this exclusive contract does it stipulate that Min Hee-jin must necessarily perform management duties for NewJeans. All ADOR employees work solely for NewJeans. NewJeans were provided with a dedicated fan app for them only (Phoning), expensive accommodation, a dedicated choreography practice room, a styling room, etc. Considering that they got the opportunity to appear in a BTS music video before their debut, it can be seen that ADOR made considerable efforts in management for NewJeans. NewJeans claims that HYBE conducted a retaliatory audit against Min Hee-jin around April 2024, a crucial time including a new release, but it was Min Hee-jin who started the public opinion war at that specific time. Although Min Hee-jin was the representative director of ADOR at this time, NewJeans is taking issue with the actions of ADOR and HYBE excluding Min Hee-jin. Min Hee-jin prepared in advance for a public opinion war, reports to related agencies, and lawsuits with the intention of separating ADOR, which includes NewJeans, from HYBE. In the process, she planned to use the parents of NewJeans members to create public opinion that HYBE was treating NewJeans unfairly. On the other hand, she also looked for investors to acquire ADOR. These actions of Min Hee-jin cannot be viewed as being for the purpose of protecting NewJeans from breach of contract obligations. (Nowhere in the conversations between Min Hee-jin and executive L, etc., is there any content stating the purpose is to protect NewJeans) It appears to be the result of Min Hee-jin's prior work to find the necessary elements for forming negative public opinion against HYBE and filing lawsuits. It appears to be the intention for ADOR to become independent from HYBE, or for Min Hee-jin herself to take NewJeans and become independent from ADOR and HYBE. It appears that Hanni either did not hear the ILLIT manager's statement accurately or does not remember it accurately. The expression 'Ignore them', which NewJeans claims as grounds for bullying, was first used by Min Hee-jin. It is difficult to rule out the possibility that Hanni's memory and expression of the situation at that time became distorted through conversations with Min Hee-jin. (In particular, Hanni appears to be not proficient in Korean) Min Hee-jin reconstructed the situation regarding an event that even Hanni cannot accurately describe, in a way that implied Hanni had been subjected to direct and aggressive action. Even though it cannot be recognized that album pushing was actually carried out, Min Hee-jin only used it as a means to attack HYBE externally. She had no interest in whether this issue (even if it existed) was corrected and the relative undervaluation compared to NewJeans' competing idol groups was resolved. In the case of a management contract, (especially for artists like NewJeans who are in the pre-debut stage) it is common for a large investment to be made while the success of the artist is uncertain, and the investment can only be recovered if success is achieved. However, if an artist, after receiving such full support based on an exclusive contract and building recognition and a fandom, then exercises decision-making authority over areas that are the management company's rights and domain, such as personnel and content production, and upon their decisions not being accepted, denies the validity of the exclusive contract, this would amount to acknowledging an easy escape from the exclusive contract without just cause. Therefore, the fact that such unreasonable demands by the artist were not accepted cannot be viewed as forcing exclusive activities against the artist's free will and excessively infringing upon their personality rights. This exclusive contract is still valid. ADOR maintains its position as the management company for NewJeans according to this exclusive contract. NewJeans expressed dissatisfaction with the ruling. They stated they cannot return to ADOR. "It is impossible to return to ADOR and continue normal entertainment activities in a situation where the relationship of trust has completely broken down," and "We plan to appeal immediately." On the other hand, ADOR said, "We sincerely hope that today's outcome will serve as an opportunity for the artists to calmly reflect on this matter," and "We have finished preparations and are waiting for activities such as the release of (NewJeans') full album."
