2.453. Confession: I have no idea what Giselle looks like

  • 3 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

When there's group photos of aespa it's easy enough to tell which one is Giselle, but sometimes I'll be scrolling and a solo picture or photoshoot will come up and I go, "oh, who's that idol?" And 9 times out of then when it's a female idol I can't identify it's Giselle. It was also easier when she had distinct hair but I could not tell you what her face looks like or how her features look. submitted by /u/blue-momo [link] [comments]

2.454. anyone else’s playlist produce funny combos (kpop +non-kpop song or 2 kpop songs)??

  • 3 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

i get some pretty conflicting combos sometimes lol. see i don’t know if i would call it conflicting but im unsure what other word to use honestly. in my own experience i haven’t met any other people that listen to say metal or rock as well as kpop other than the friends of mine that introduced me to kpop and myself. for example im a diehard pierce the veil fan but recently me and my friend have started really getting into boynextdoor. i was just wondering if other people like that were common?? if so are there any really funny transitions from a kpop song to a non-kpop song you’ve experienced. but then it can also be applied to specifically kpop as well, for example if you went from favourite by pow to bouncy by ateez. my favourite one that’s come out of my playlist is probably going from magnetic (illit) to perfect weapon (black veil brides). submitted by /u/faithhh22 [link] [comments]

2.455. About the c*nty concepts from 2nd and 3rd gen

  • 3 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I've been seeing a lot of discourse for a while of people saying they want to see adults debut because they want more mature and cunty concepts like missA, Sistar, AoA, ect. But I just want to point out in a lot of these groups the members WEREN'T adults. They were exploited teenagers. Some of the members were teenagers during mini skirts promotions. The members have actually spoken out about how traumatic it was. When teen top released no more perfume on you (a song about cheating on their girlfriend for an older woman) the members were still children and they literally didn't even understand what the song was about because they were so young. I think that it's actually an improvement that groups are giving teenagers teenage concepts like illit, and hearts2heart. Although I don't think kids should be debuting at all I'm glad their concepts are more appropriate than they used to be. submitted by /u/xlov_mother_muti [link] [comments]

2.456. How do people justify hating/dragging kpop groups/members your biases clearly respect/like?

  • 3 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

The one thing I've learned from being into kpop is that people are NOT shy about openly and directly dissing anyone. It's the internet, after all, but I don't quite understand how people justify their hatred. Let's say your favorite group/bias does a promo with the group you hate (for whatever reason). They clearly respect who they're doing it with. Why do you spend time and energy dragging them online? Are you afraid their success will amount to your bias failing? Do you think your bias is doing it just because it's business and they secretly dislike them in which case your bias is fake and full of shit? I definitely see the hate between female group fans more than male group fans for whatever reason. There are groups I don't care for or like in which case I don't talk about them at all or I know that they are talented in which case it's a concept/management issue. Why do you/people put energy towards dragging others? Speak freely. It's all generally anonymous anyways. submitted by /u/Due_Conversation9967 [link] [comments]

Why didn't they build the building in a nice neighborhood? There are places in Gangnam Seoul where they should have built the YG headquarters in more developed areas, for example: in the following images. submitted by /u/Jazzlike_Ad_1178 [link] [comments]

2.458. I think every boy groups should have a "diva line" at least

  • 3 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Been stanning AHOF for about a month now and watching the diva line or prettyz (Woongki, Shuaibo, and JL) in action is possibly one of the best entertainments in kpop I ever watched in a while. What I especially love about them is just how unapologetically feminine and chaotic they can be, and never once di they shy away from being feminine or absolutely dramatic in every possible way. In a similar manner its also the reason I've been absolutely in love with Xlov; their entire group is a diva line at its peak and they're never afraid to show just how mesmerizing they can be with the pure unapologetically feminine energy that no boy groups had ever done. Tons of boy groups usually have a token feminine member or pretty much none at all and thus they are usually pretty overshadowed in this regard. Do also tell any diva lines I should know of, though. submitted by /u/EmanuelTheodorus [link] [comments]

2.459. My second and probably last kpop concert?

  • 3 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Disclaimer: The artists have absolutely no fault in any of this. On the contrary, they were the only positive thing about this entire experience. Sorry if this post is very long, I don’t know if it will sound over dramatic, I just want to rant, because it helps me, if you will read the whole thing thank you! I went to the final stop of Stray kids dominate world tour in Rome. I’m someone who struggles a lot with social anxiety, but I wanted to try being prepared. It was also the first time I was sleeping away from home, just for one night, but for me that’s a big deal. I wasn’t alone. My sister, who’s 10 years older than me, came with me. I just turned 18, and even though we’ve gone out together many times before. We’re from the north of Italy, and Rome is right in the center. It’s not exactly a short trip. Planning the trip was exhausting, we were all stressed. My first mistake was setting expectations way too high for myself. I thought that maybe this concert could help me come out of my shell a little bit. I didn’t expect it to magically fix anything. I just hoped the environment would make me feel comfortable enough. To push myself, I made freebies, 43 of them, but I only managed to give out about 7 or 5, I don’t exactly remember. I felt overwhelmed. I blam for thinking I’d be able to handle it. My second mistake was underestimating my social anxiety in general. We had numbered seats, but they were quite high up. Even though I was on the edge of the row and not totally squished between people, the height and the crowd made me feel sick. It was a combo of vertigo and anxiety. I don’t know why. Maybe it was just too much this time. When I went to a festival for Stray Kids last year, I managed better even though there were also a lot of people. Luckily, a security guard let me move a bit lower within my section, near the stairs, ramp, and bathrooms it was an area meant for disabled people so they could have easy access and a better view so they let me stay there as long as I stayed behind the people the area was meant for, which I did. One thing I’m really proud of is staying until the end of the concert, despite the pain and how tired I was. I wanted to leave halfway through so many times, but I didn’t. It was hard, but so worth it. There were some small regrets too. I was hoping to make friends. I had started talking to thing girl online before the concert, and we were in the same section, just a few rows apart, but we never found each other in the crowd at the end. I also couldn’t take the banner. I assumed they’d hand them out but I had to actively go and grab them yourself, I didn’t even noticed. I also couldn’t contribute to the fan project, for the same reason, I was kinda sad. At least 2 kind people gave me some cute freebies, which I really appreciated. The hardest part of the trip wasn’t even the concert. It was the guilt. Everything in that city was confusing, I know my sister gets irritated easily in general, but the whole thing felt like a lot of pressure. I felt like I was the cause of all my family stress, especially for my mom and sister. After all, I’m the one who wanted to go. It’s the day after the concert now, and I feel so many mixed emotions. I’m sad because of how the experience went, but I’m happy I got to see Stray Kids live. They were absolutely incredible and made everything worth it in the end. Even if I wasn’t physically at my best. Right now, I’m deep in that post-concert depression and disappointment because of everything around it. And I genuinely envy the people who can go to concerts, make friends easily, and handle all the chaos before and after, even if it’s hard. I really wanted to be like that too, but I’ve come to realize I’m not. I keep telling myself this might be my last concert, not because I don’t like them, but because I can’t handle the rest of it. The travel, the anxiety, the pressure, the planning, feeling like a burden on my family… it’s too much. And I know that going alone wouldn’t even be an option. I don’t have close friends. Still, if a new concert would happen in my country, I know I’ll probably feel that intense FOMO if I would miss it. So maybe I won’t completely give up on concerts, I just don’t know how to manage everything that comes before and after. And that’s the hardest part for me. But to Stray Kids, thank you for giving me a beautiful, unforgettable night, even if the journey was rough. I’ll remember the concert positively. submitted by /u/ForceApprehensive597 [link] [comments]

Saw a post about groupkgaes and first I laughed and then realised I lowkey agreed. There are a few groups where I get all excited of when they announce their group comebacks and when they announce solo comebacks that excitement isn't the same or I just don't really care & tune in for it for a few hours and then clock out. I just love the group comebacks so much. I do of course get that artists need their individual journeys as well! Just how I feel and saw some people agree so I wondered; Have any of you experienced this with your ults maybe? submitted by /u/imsofineeeez [link] [comments]

god, they’re so good. it’s actually crazy, they could’ve become absolute legends in the industry. so much talent, fresh ass music, good looks, everything. jehyun’s face card alone should have broken records. bc’s rap and personality would have won the hearts of so many. they were supposed to be the next phenomenon, but they only released a few songs and disbanded. i will never get over it, i love them so much. i still listen to their music daily bro, im sad about not having more songs to have on rotation, it would’ve been cool to see what they could’ve done and what other styles they’d have tried. rip 1team, you are missed. submitted by /u/neozerrr [link] [comments]

2.466. STOP PAINTING SEUNGHAN (ex-RIIZE) AS A VICTIM OF THE KPOP INDUSTRY

  • 3 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Stop portraying Seunghan as a victim of SM or the K-pop industry. He's accountable for his own actions. He’s not a foreign national unfamiliar with Korean values, or a young teenager taken out of school and pressured into the industry. Seunghan was born and raised in Korea. He knew the laws and cultural expectations, including the severity of sexual abuse and digital sex crimes against Korean women in Korea (dating violence is regularly in the news). CONTEXT FOR INTERNATIONAL FANS. In South Korea,1 in 3 women face physical or sexual violence, and justice is almost NEVER served (ex-NCT member Moon Taeil only got THREE years and 6 months for a group sexual assault of an unconscious woman; the late Goo Hara’s ex-boyfriend, who physically assaulted her and threatened to distribute revenge porn, only got ONE year and a fine). This societal issue affects all women and, tragically, young girls, too (e.g. Nth room/telegram scandal had middle-school aged victims). And women get DOXXED for peacefully protesting violence and misogyny against women. WHAT DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH SEUNGHAN? Because of these issues female K-pop fans are hyper vigilant against clues male idols are secretly misogynistic. And ALL companies/labels respond by either putting the member on hiatus (e.g. Stray kidz Hyunjin) or by removing them from the group entirely (IDID Junhwan) or by disbanding groups/predebut groups entirely (Trainee A Leo). Korean fans aren’t obligated to support someone who they suspect is misogynist and objectifies women. Would a member of the LGBTQ+ community have to support an artist that they suspect with good reason was homophobic or transphobic? NO. Would a POC have to support someone they suspected was secretly racist? NO. Why should Korean fans have to support someone they think objectifies and sexualises women? Because he’s your bias??? The double standards is insane. WHY DO THEY THINK HE IS MYSOGINISTIC? Seunghan took intimate kissing photos with his girlfriend, a minor at the time, and was careless enough with it that his friend got a hold of it and uploaded it online, or worst-case scenario, Seunghan uploaded it himself. IN A COUNTRY WHERE MOLKAS HAPPEN TO THOUSANDS OF WOMEN, EVERYDAY. He also made inappropriate comments about Le sserafim Eunchae, a minor at the time, which is also massively disrespectful in Korea as she is his senior/debuted first/sunbae in the industry). And there were many other rumours already floating around before he’d even been active 4 months. CONCLUSION Seunghan's mistakes were his own, not SM's, RIIZE members', nor his Korean fans'. Criticism of his actions isn't unwarranted; it's accountability. DOES THIS MEAN HE SHOULDN’T GET ANOTHER CAHNCE? NO. People learn and grow, but he did what he did. Stop blaming other people (least of all his ex-members). (This is coming from someone who has since unstanned RIIZE and is only a casual listener because their content it less fun without Seunghan because he was the most extroverted/loudest, and the quality of the live stages has declined because their vocal-line is much weaker now. I still don’t blame them, much less the Korean girls and women who have to deal with the things that they do for not wanting him there anymore). Anyway, stream Seunghan/XngHan’s solo debut song ‘Waste No Time’ and stop terrorising the other boys with OT7 posts/comments. submitted by /u/Mental_Room_5452 [link] [comments]
