I often see fans accusing SM of being racist toward their non-Korean idols when line distribution feels unfair. And while I do think SM has had issues with how they manage foreign members, I donât think line distribution is always one of them. Take EXOâs âMAMAâ for example. Fans were upset that Chen got so many lines in the Chinese version, despite being Korean with weaker pronunciation. But letâs be real, who else in EXO-M had the technical vocal ability to pull off those challenging parts? Chen was the best fit. This shows that SM prioritizes vocal skill, not nationality. Most of Chen's lines are just holding notes anyway. Another example, NCT Dreamâs âChewing Gum.â Chenle and Renjun, both Chinese, got a solid amount of lines. Mark, a Canadian, also had a major presence. Why? Because all three were vocally or rap-wise stronger than the other members at the time. Yes I knew Haechan exist. People love to excuse Markâs treatment by saying âheâs still Korean,â but then what about Johnny? Heâs Korean-American too and didnât get the same opportunities early on. So clearly itâs not about ethnicity, but individual skill. Markâs just really good at what he does. So no, SM isnât always fair. But not every uneven line distribution is proof of racism. Sometimes, itâs just the harsh truth of who can deliver what a song demands. submitted by /u/Personal_Damage6616 [link] [comments]
I've been trying to find some girl group songs that have the same vibe as Hard Carry - GOT7 and Bouncy - ATEEZ to no avail. If any of y'all could help out it would be greatly appreciated! submitted by /u/PetrieNoFly [link] [comments]
I'm not necessarily referring to konglish, there are times when the English component of a song is written by Koreans for Koreans and I'm not bothered by that, I understand why it happens. I'm more confused by English songs that feel like they were clearly written by native English speakers with an international audience in mind and yet they somehow don't quite sound as natural as they should. I think the biggest recurring Instance of this is the use of "gen z slang", for some reason that I can't quite figure out kpop is always approximately like 2 years behind in terms of modern slang. Like every time I hear "genz slang" in a kpop song my reaction is usually "oh that's quaint do people still say that?" It's gotten to a point where I know a word is dead if it's made it's way into a kpop song, Is this like an artifact of the industry? Is it because these songs were potentially written a couple years ago and recently picked up by a group? submitted by /u/Synthiandrakon [link] [comments]

Do you ever wish you worked with them? Even though you donât like production or crowded places or makeup or anything like that but want to study or work something similar so that you convince yourself youâll meet them and theyâll know about your existence? I know thatâs all idealisation or idols but canât help but crying myself to sleep craving being close to them or them knowing about me. To the point affects my daily life. #straykids submitted by /u/Sea_Letter613 [link] [comments]
I've been a Stay for over 3 years. I've found really great friends in this fandom. I love Stray Kids' music. Over the years I've defended our fandom over the bad reputation we have. I've said to people "it's a huge fandom, there will be bad apples but most people are nice!" I've said "all fandoms have horrible people, it's not just Stays!" This past weekend was Stray Kids' concerts in London. I was so excited to see my favourite group in my home country. I was so excited to meet up with friends I've made. Exchange freebies, meet Stays on the tube, etc. Instead, my experience has been entirely ruined by a toxic online fandom. The things I have seen on twitter these past couple of days has changed my view of my fellow Stray Kids fans. There is something fundamentally wrong with this fandom and I think it's too late to be changed. I hope the fandom is happy that they are driving away people who genuinely love Stray Kids and their music. submitted by /u/HelloStranger0325 [link] [comments]
I've been a kpop stan since 2016. Hopefully i didn't make a fandom too mad. For your information, i don't hate any group on here. I'am just not a big fan from the Plave concept and their music doesn't really do much to me. But i wish them nothing but the best. submitted by /u/Injeolmie_04 [link] [comments]
All the songs on this album are good... Like all of them.... My favourite is song of the stars... Its the highlight of the album... Easily one of the top3 txt songs.. All 5 solo songs are like reflection of each member... I don't knw how to word it.. it's like they suit that member ... My favourite is ghost girl from the solos... But I love all of them... The title track lyrics are just đđđđ.... We do it for love... Don't forget, FOREVER... Still, we do it for love đđđđ What is your favourite track from the album.. ? submitted by /u/Big_Nebula2755 [link] [comments]
This was inspired by a post that I came across about negative comments under groupsâ posts and then thinking about at least one troll obsessively leaving hate comments under Swan of Purple Kissâs posts for a while recently I feel like fans need to stop feeding into actual trollsâ comments, especially if theyâre trying to bury negative comments under idolsâ posts. It feels like thatâs the worst thing to do. In the case of Swan of Purple Kissâs recent trolling, itâs very likely that itâs either few or even just one person making multiple accounts, spamming the same kind of comments (mentioning Swan being overweight even though she isnât and spamming the same gifs), the same accounts constantly liking each othersâ comments. It really looks like the same few or same troll. It seems like theyâre just wanting to display some kind of negativity towards Swan. Youâd think that the best thing to do it not boost their comments. But lots of fans give into the troll(s), reply to their comments and occasionally engage in a whole conversation with them under their comments, and give them attention. I feel like that was one of the worst things those Purple Kiss fans but also any fan could do I understand the desire to defend your ult or correct someone thatâs spreading incorrect information. But it feels like boosting these trollsâ comments or giving them the attention they want is one of the worse things you could do. It feels like itâs doing more harm than good if these fans want to do some kind of good. I get that instagram is a mess when it comes to reports but that seems better to me than boosting these nasty comments or giving the trolls attention. And if you want to correct someone being wrong like, it makes sense to correct them and not allow misinformation to spread. But sometimes, itâs obvious when itâs a troll being malicious on purpose. And in my opinion, itâs best to not feed into what they want submitted by /u/SeaReserve8781 [link] [comments]
