3.135. Being a loyal fan shouldn’t mean blindly defending every bad decision

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Way to many fans treat kpop like a personal identity not just entertainment. Calling out an idol or company is often seen as betrayal and wrong by others in the fandom, even tho it is needed. Even polite criticism gets labeled as fake fan behavior. You can love a group and still hold them accountable. True loyalty includes wanting the best for them not protecting them from all consequences. Thoughtful critique from within the fandom helps idols grow and stay grounded. There were so many times were idols had Scandals like bullying accusations, cultural appropriation, mistreatment of staff and their fans just said: “oh they would never do that.” or even attack victims or whistleblowers. That's just wrong behavior submitted by /u/Injeolmie_04 [link] [comments]

3.147. On a scale of 1 to 5, How similar do you think these junior groups: BABYMONSTER, TXT and XIKERS are to their Seniors: BLACKPINK, BTS and ATEEZ respectively?

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

First of all, I made this post not to drag the junior groups or start fan wars. I respect the junior groups as no matter how much they might be influenced by their seniors, they still hold values of artists like originality and their own creativity. In my opinion, Similarity should be based heavily on concepts and musical style(sound and genre of songs) with other supporting factors like choreography direction. Factors like the number of members are not that relevant according to my judgement and should hold little weight. Give you rating to any, two or all of the three groups and preferably an expression of what you think in words. And by similarity, Uninfluenced Slightly influenced Moderately similar Near replica/strongly influenced copy/clone Let me give my opinion and would like y'all to use this format or something similar: TXT - BTS : 3 Imo, bts has done a lot of concepts and genres, they started as a more hip hop based group and changed in a short years which is why I see TXT as heavily influenced by one particular era of BTS mainly HYYH. But as txt had many years in the game, they've succeeded to express their message differently from the one of BTS as they leaned more into fantasy and youth storytelling. And plus no rap line in TXT which made a huge difference I think. BABYMONSTER - BLACKPINK : 4 Contrary to TXT, BM has a disadvantage of being a new group and has not yet had time to express themselves fully and differentiate themselves from BLACKPINK which is why I still see Blackpink a lot in BM. The genre and the message are similar in my eyes, how BM rap voices are it's like they are told to rap like blackpink in the studio but vocally is where I see the difference and I think BM is better in that part in my opinion at least. About Xikers - Ateez, I am a casual listener of both groups but the few songs i listen to have similar vie and a lot of times when I listen to Xikers, I think to myself " this is a song that ateez would exactly put out" except from that I really have no idea so I'll just give it a 4 and I'll learn from ideas of people who follow the two groups. submitted by /u/hope-LR [link] [comments]

3.148. Why is there such an obsession with numbers in K-pop?

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

You see this in plenty of fandoms around public figures, but I’ve never seen it pushed this far outside of K-pop. Endless streaming, bulk album buying, fans arguing and fighting over numbers, and bragging about achievements that aren’t even theirs. Sometimes it feels like K-pop is less about the music and more like a competitive sport. submitted by /u/Striking-Meal-5257 [link] [comments]

3.150. Why some fans are so toxic? Still hating.

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Okay so this is just my own opinion but why some fans are so toxic? Like idols can’t even have their own decisions. Fans are getting more and more toxic. Idols have no mistakes - hated, Idols have one mistake but that mistake is not their fault - hated, Idols having idols or respected cultures - hated, Idols having not good visuals - hated etc I could go on and on but like why? Why you guys hating them so much? Like I’ve noticed comments left in videos saying “she’s not that pretty why is she an idol” like why? I just don’t get the hate with idols trying to make music and just doing what they like. Like come on touch some grass, really. submitted by /u/Krikrimelo [link] [comments]
