16. What do you mean by peak? Is it even a real thing...Tell me what do you think about it.

  • 3 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I was thinking about this for a while. I am mainly into gg so I will tell you about my observation. (correct me if I am wrong) Itzy - Itzy did exceptionally were untouchable until wannabe era, with their girl crush concept ppl believed them to be the next big thing.Yes, Itzy is still doing fine but, I think they are not performing well as much as their initial years . Gidle - They were immensely popular after the reliease of Tomboy. Then theur next releases Nxde,Queencard, Super lady and tgeir bside fare did exceptionally well, but after that it seems like they are not able to outdo themselves. Ive - Songs like Love Dive, After Like,I Am, Eleven were every where when they released...Yes, Heya ,Accendio, Rebel Heart and Attitude are popular...infact Heya is one of ny favourite song from their discography...but I feel like they are no where near Love Dive and I am in terms of popularity. There latest song XOXZ does not have the charm of their old song alteast according to me. Le Sserafim - Antifragile,Unforgiven and even Easy and Smart performed so well domestically as well as internationaly. Infact Eve,psyche and Bluebird's wife was inescapable. Then, they released crazy, which did well internationally but did not perform that well domestically and then Hot.Hot failed to do well domestically and internationally. Aespa - Aespa had an amazing run starting from Drama. Then there were bops like Armageddon, Supernova and Wiplash...what a goated era for the industry. Then came Dirty Work it was promoted so heavily but somehow failed to create the same magic. Then there title track Rich man has received mixed reaction. So, with every group it seems that there is a prime era with 4-5 songs and then it slowly start declining...So when we say that xyz group peaked...is it a real thing ....or is it another fan made thoery...or is it something that happened with top 4th gen ggs...Let me know your thoughts. submitted by /u/Due_Collection_3363 [link] [comments]

20. What is the biggest debut in KPop history?

  • 3 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

When I say biggest, I mean the ones that make the biggest splash in the kpop world and outside of it. The ones that make the most noise, the ones that get people talking about them, even in a positive/negative light. I'm asking this because I feel like this year hasn't had the most incredible/popular debuts compared to others in the past and it is already september. submitted by /u/Impossible_Cable_862 [link] [comments]

21. [KATSEYE] An Open Letter to HYBE x Geffen: The Girls Deserve More Than Just a Marketing Plan

  • 3 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

You built a beautiful machine. Now get out of its way. Look, I’m not here to hate on Katseye, I love these girls. But that’s exactly why this hurts to say: I don’t care about the music. I care about them. I care about what they want to wear, what they listen to at night, what they’d write about if no one told them what a “hit” sounds like. I didn’t fall in love with Gnarly. I fell in love with watching them become artists. K-pop may be the blueprint. But authenticity is the new flex. What the Katseye doc showed us is that these girls are brilliant, multidimensional, and so much more than stage ready dolls. They’ve been through it. They’ve put in the hours. And now? You’re still feeding them songs like it’s 2012. Where’s the Manon core alt-pop? Where’s Megan’s rap verse that doesn’t sound AI generated? Where’s Lara whisper singing something devastating into an iPhone mic? Let the girls become muses, not mascots. We don’t need another polished girl group with nothing to say. We need: - Lyrics that come from their journals, not a corporate Slack. - Sounds that reflect their identities, not just “what’s trending.” - Content that shows us who they really are, not just media-trained soundbites. Because you know what actually sells? Not trends. Not marketing. Cool sells. Real sells. Vibes sell. And these girls have all three. You just need to let go. So here’s my final plea: You trained them. You refined them. You turned raw talent into performance beasts. Now step back. Let them make mistakes. Let them be weird. Let them surprise you. Because that’s how icons are born. Katseye doesn’t need a genre. They need freedom. submitted by /u/Powerful-Common9981 [link] [comments]

25. Fans are so used to living vicariously through idols they forget THEY are not actually the ones getting awards or achievements

  • 3 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I think this is a given but at the same time I can't help but think this anytime I see tired debates of fans being snarky towards other fandoms because their faves have more awards, more achievements, views, more self-produced songs... you name it. At the end of the day all you are is a fan, your faves 99% of the time couldn't pick you out of a crowd if they tried. And while yes you do contribute because you invest time and sometimes money into them... I think once it gets to the point where you because of this feel superior and forget your place as a fan... it gets embarrassing from an outside perspective towards people who are not this chronically online. Luckily for these fans (which I'm also admittably a part of sometimes) this is such a common phenomenon in internet culture today that people don't even pose the question: "you know you're not actually the one winning the awards and you're bragging about someone else's achievements as if they're somehow related to you and that's kind of weird right?" anymore. But still I think a lot of fans need the reminder, because this is indeed how 90% of you sound when you're trying to act snarky and like your faves are better because you happen to be a fan of them. Once again, this is something I myself also sometimes fall victim too, but once I notice from myself that I'm starting to sound like an ass or I'm making up an entire essay to 'defend' my fave, I do indeed feel the embarrassment. Idk maybe reminder to some of you to go look in your own history and see if you still feel as powerful as you did when you first made those snarky comments or not. This doesn't apply to you? Great, I'm jealous and can't relate lol submitted by /u/Due_Improvement_5699 [link] [comments]

26. Rami's continuing hiatus and BABYMONSTER's future

YG announced BABYMONSTER's upcoming comeback with only 6 members (without Rami) two days ago. Rami's hiatus started last May after YG's statement citing the idol's health as the reason for the hiatus. What do you think about the future of the group and of Rami? Will she join the likes of izna's Jiyoon who left the group after a long hiatus? How will the group sound like without their main vocalist? How will this affect their standing as one of 5th gen's leaders? submitted by /u/LiveRegular2924 [link] [comments]

31. How do you feel about idols dating?

  • 4 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I’ve been thinking about idol dating scandals, and I realized the reactions are so different depending on where you are. Like in Korea, a lot of fans get angry when idols date because they feel like: “You marketed yourselves as selling romance/fantasy, so why are you dating behind our backs? Are we basically funding your girlfriend’s luxury bag?” It’s almost like they take it personally, as if they’ve been cheated on. Meanwhile, in global fandom spaces, the general vibe is more like: “They’re not my partner, lol. Of course idols can date, marry, have kids. It’s their life.” So I’m curious. Why is there such a divide? Is it because the “selling point” of idols is different in each market? Like in Korea, fans buy into that “romantic fantasy” marketing more, while international fans focus on music, performance, and personality? How do you personally feel about idols dating? Do you think it should be a “scandal”? Or is it just part of normal life that fans shouldn’t interfere with? Even though I don’t really care whether my bias has a gf/bf or not, I kinda also think that you can’t ignore the idol industry structure itself. Agencies literally package idols as “available” and profit off the parasocial fantasy. So when dating news breaks, it feels like it clashes with the very product they’ve been selling. In that sense, fans’ anger isn’t just personal. It’s baked into the system. submitted by /u/SignificantElk5574 [link] [comments]
