i was a hardcore army from 2015 to 2020. still like them, just not too into kpop anymore. never was an exo-l, though i liked their music (and still do). i was there during the great army-exo-l wars, and even then, as much as army hated exo-l, im sure that most must have acknowledged that exo was bts’ only competition. i have always enjoyed their well-written songs and appreciated their vocals and all-rounder members instead of being bitter about them being a worthy opponent. sm tried to come up with superm, thinking that bringing together the company’s popular bg members would create more profit, but tbh it didn’t exactly feel like a group, as we are used to seeing the members in their respective groups. seeing the bond between the members strengthening over time is one factor that ensures kpop fans keep stanning the group, and that just wasn’t there with superm. therefore, the group was not able to replace exo as planned, as it was mainly supported by solo stans and akgaes. by the time superm was a thing, exo wasn’t as active as they were before, so that’s why i think superm was a replacement plan. and now we have come to the erasure of cbx, when they are such an integral part of the group. exo is known for their vocals so losing these members wouldnt make the group feel like exo. same with any other member, but i hope you get what i mean. cbx comebacks were also quite entertaining. so it’s quite sad to see how sm has slowly abandoned exo over the years when they were the only bg who could have been in bts’ place or as popular as bts. exo and bts were friendly rivals, pushing each other to be their best, always respecting one another and some members forming meaningful friendships despite their fandoms. it’s almost like sm just gives up on their groups once they hit the top to create new ones, when that group could have been making them the most profit now. its disappointing to see what exo and exo-ls has been going through for the past years. my heart goes out to all exo-ls, especially to the ones who had been waiting for ot9 for the longest while. im wishing for you guys that cbx will be included in the comeback. p.s. i have stopped engaging with kpop fandoms as it gets quite toxic and tiring. so sorry if anything i said offended you, but please do not attack me. i was just stating my opinions and sympathising with exo-ls. submitted by /u/Longjumping_Prune_45 [link] [comments]
Today I learned the reality behind the people who win fansign/call events and it made me realize how naive I am to current kpop. I used to listen to 2nd Gen kpop back in 2009 and it’s nothing like how it is today. I didn’t even think of meeting GD or CL or any idol. But now you can win video calls or fansign events in the states “super easily”. However I don’t know “super easily” meant dropping a rack on albums. I thought I’d buy one or two to test my luck but people are out here buying 50+. So it’s safe to say I will not be entering any more fancall contests anytime soon as I have mortgage, childcare, & vacations I’d like/need to pay for instead😭 submitted by /u/jamie_gee26 [link] [comments]

I first got into K-pop in 2018 due to BTS during the Fake Love era. I was into them to the extent of following Youtube fan channels but wasn't on V-live or buying any merch. Really enjoyed Red Velvet, Twice, TXT, and many others too. But, it is due to Illit that I'm back into K-pop now, and never before have I kept up with a group's promotions before. I even watched R U NEXT? even though I knew it would be shit and am now keeping up with their creative team on instagram. It's actually their creative team which has made me fall absolutely in love with this group. I really enjoy the songs too, but it is things like the styling on stage and concept photos which really gets me. Officially a glitt ! submitted by /u/ma5hal [link] [comments]

Had the idea when a certain artist came on in my Spotify. Rule: I will give you a row of names who collabed with at least 1 (or more) KPop artists and you need to find the KPop artist/group (or if you know all) who collabed with the artist I give you ~ Let's see how well you can do :3 JVKE Black Eyed Pease Lizzo Ava Max Selena Gomez Salem Ilese Jasen Derulo Coldplay submitted by /u/Beautiful_Yellow_682 [link] [comments]
Alright so we all know how manufactured this genre and the music industry can be in general. I love seeing groups produce their own music or choreography, but I kinda want to see what a fully formed group between friends, family, etc would look like. Similar to what we see in bands. Would you watch it? Do you think it would work or do you think the element of control in the industry wouldn’t allow this to happen? submitted by /u/technocreme [link] [comments]
In my opinion it’s any odd number (for better formations without hiding members) that’s not too big or too small, so either 5 or 7 (leaning towards 7 tho because then you have more possibilities + more different talents and visuals) submitted by /u/DaGayEnby [link] [comments]
I just saw a tweet saying "the amount of people who think being the leader of a kpop group is an actual job and not just a made up position like face of the group or visual" and I literally screamed because I found it insulting... So I came here to ask you who do you think has made an excellent job as the leader of their group and why I will mention RM because what hasn't he done for the group? They built what HYBE is today because Namjoon was there for them, to put it simply... submitted by /u/No-Function-7261 [link] [comments]

Introduced my friend to some 3rd gen groups and she said "well i guess I'm a bebe-L now" (side note: i died) but I just thought it was interesting because she'd only seen a few videos and didn't even know the names yet really. Meanwhile there's a lot of groups I loosely follow, and have even seen live, but I don't really associate myself with the fandom name? submitted by /u/Spiered [link] [comments]

I just finished watching Cortis's interview with Zane Lowe, and my God, I was so happy to see that all of them speak English! Whenever I watch K-pop interviews where only a few members don’t speak the language, I can’t help but imagine how tedious and uncomfortable it must be to sit through a 30–40 minute interview without understanding half of what’s being said, yet still having to stay alert just in case they’re asked something. I know trainee days are already a nightmare, but I really wish K-pop companies offered English classes to their idols, especially now that K-pop is more global, so they at least have a general understanding. Anyways, what are your thoughts? submitted by /u/JuggernautBetter7163 [link] [comments]
I have been a mamamoo and hwasa fan since debut and I've always LOVED hwasa's voice and her insane sense in music Her solo songs with mamamoo albums like "be calm", her collabs like "don't", "don't touch me", "in the fall", her solo songs like "bless u", "LMM". Heck, even her cover choices like "city of stars", "hand clap", "u da one", "lion sleeps tonight". Her appearance in programs and her covers like "when I depart". I loved them all. I truly did. Her musical sense and taste were all just excellent When I found out she was gonna join PNation, I was quite sad as Psy artists tend to release psy-sounding songs. Yet I was still hopeful because hwasa had IT! no matter which producer she worked with, her sense always came through. I was especially relieved when I heard her and Psy's "Now". I loved it and was hopeful for the future Then "I love my body" happened. And "chilli". And "Na".... I was soooooooooooooooooooooo disappointed. Especially that I can still see her senses in her cover song appearances like "orange colored sky"! With every release under PNation I lose more and more hope. Her releases sounded like a Psy parody :( Then, "good goodbye" happened What a lovely song! The lyrics are beautiful! The melody is awesome! The MV is emotional! It was everything I loved and missed about her! It STREAMS Hwasa I don't care about the charts. But I was SO HAPPY to see how successful this song is. Hwasa has always been a successful soloist but her success under PNation felt like the result of rage baiting rather than people turning in because they like it I am happy "good goodbye" is getting her flowers. I hope this will be a sign for PNation to let Hwasa do her thing and not interfere. I hope this will show hwasa that she is still loved even if she left PNation (praying for this tbh) Anyways, listen to good goodbye!! It's a beautiful song and the instrumental version is perfect too! submitted by /u/Prestigious-Drag-562 [link] [comments]

Hi!! My friend and I went to a KPOP Halloween Party at a club over the weekend and we loved a song but didn’t know it and can’t find it anywhere. The chorus had Cha Cha in it as a main repeating line and the dance they were doing on the stage for it was like finger guns I think? Any help would be amazing! We’ve been dying without it! <3 submitted by /u/External-Hyena-1446 [link] [comments]

I know there have been discussions about this in the past, but if we stop talking about it, HxG would never stop sexualizing them. Their recent Halloween performance made me write this post. I know in the music industry sex sells but if they wanted katseye to wear such clothes and do such choreo, then shouldn't they have not put a minor in the group? Also I feel hybe is a company that actually takes criticism from the audience from what I have seen, so I hope they see the criticism this time too. Like after the criticism for Smart dance, the following comebacks for le sserafim have been alot better in terms of choreo and styling. When their next comeback was called HOT, I was sure it would be a sexy concept considering the name and the fact that all members were legally adult, so I was pleasantly surprised it was FAR from a sexy concept. I like spaghetti's styling too bcoz its camp without being overly revealing. Couldn't they do the same for katseye? Why are they dressing them in shorts that are basically the size of underwear? submitted by /u/Odd_Entertainer9554 [link] [comments]
