when i first got into kpop, i was always pulled toward idols who had that mysterious vibe — the quiet ones, the ones who looked cool just by saying and doing less. i thought it made them deeper, more interesting. but as i’ve grown older, i started to see how performative that image can be. it’s one of the easiest roles to play in kpop: stay silent, avoid aegyo, act like you’re above the silly stuff, and people will call you mysterious or chic. after a while, i got tired of it. now with 5th gen, it feels like everyone knows their “concept” so well that it’s almost like a daily performance of that image. i think there are naturally cool people whatever they do, even if they do wacky, aegyo, they will remain cool but what i don’t like now are the members with “too cool for this” kind of attitude. these days i find myself drawn more to idols who are genuine, warm, and outgoing — the ones who really make an effort to connect with fans. even something as simple as doing aegyo when asked might look silly on the surface, but it actually takes effort and a willingness to give a part of themselves. and that’s the kind of effort i respect the most. and that’s what makes them even cooler. submitted by /u/EntrepreneurSea3337 [link] [comments]

I like groups from every company, but I tend to listen to more Hybe/JYPE artists and I’m just wondering if anyone can tell me about TWS? This might be more of niche topic. I do see that they just debuted last year and I am absolutely not one of those people that think groups need to be perfect/find their niche off the bat!! But I realized recently that I know nothing about this group. I feel like I barely hear about them - granted I only have Reddit and watch YouTube shorts so it could absolutely just be me. I liked their song double take and quickly realized it was essentially knock out (top and g-dragon) with a few lyrical changes; so maybe not a great start? How did that come to be without intervention? 😅 I haven’t listened to all of their music, but currently the only other song I like from them is oh mymy which also doesn’t seem to be super well liked just from going back on Reddit. Does pledis not market them well and/or does anyone currently follow them and know more?
