1.566. Baekhyun’s Love Comes Back reminds me of this random thing

I was listening to this song earlier and I really like it, but the instrumental kept reminding me of something I couldn't quite place. Then I realized it sounded like the beeps in the pacer test lol! For anyone unfamiliar with it, it's basically a fitness test that we had to do in school every year. This was just a random observation and I wanted to see if anyone else heard it. submitted by /u/Icysprings [link] [comments]

1.571. Can we all calm down about biases?

  • 2 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

This is a rant that I've been meaning to post for almost a year now but I've just completly forgot, so I'm sorry if some of the stuff I mention here has changed (mostly fans attitude) but I still want to rant. When I say "I want netizens to shut up about biases" I don't mean that fans shouldn't have biases but rather that I wish that people wouldn't care as much about which member in a group is more or less biases. I'm really sick and tired if CONSTANTLY seeing people talking about how one member in a group is "underrated" just because they are the least biased on kprofiles. There are many idols who, yes are the least biased but at the same time are incredibly well known. A lot of these "underrated" members are still from some of the biggest groups currently and have plenty fans. It pisses me off even more when the difference between the most biased member and the least biased member is an incredibly low number in ratio. I also hate how a certain fans get the BIGGEST ego in the world just because they bias the least biased member, as if that makes them somehow special. Bias who ever you want, you can be proud of it too, but don't talk about your bias like you're a god for liking them. This obviously stems from peoples need to be different and stand out, it apears in practically every corner of the internet. Yes, mistreatment from fans does happen, but one member being margianally slightly less biased is not that and you dont need to overthing every single cheer or gift they recieve, life is not that serious. Someone is always going to be on the bottom of a bias list, someone is always going to be on top and some members are a little more popular than others but I assure you they aren't mistreated by fans (MOST OF THE TIME) and their worth as people is not dimminished by their popularity. TLDR; Someone is always going to be less popular but that's just natrual and shouldn't be taken too serioustly. submitted by /u/seungkwaaa [link] [comments]

Choosing a text post because the headline is a bit misleading when translated - from what I gather, he hasn't been sentenced yet, this is just what the prosecution is seeking. 1.573. what do you genuinely believe is an underrated non-title track kpop song?

  • 2 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

for simplicity sake, i would appreciate it if you were to name *one* song from *one* artist that you genuinely believe is a non-title track song that is either underrated or generally unheard of in the kpop world. i would also like to be a discussion, so tell me/us why you like it and why you chose that song in particular! i'll go first! i had this song STUCK in my head today and i realized that if i tried to describe it to most kpop fans (not all! but most!), they'd have no idea what i was talking about. and that song is 찰나 (charla) by tripleS acid angels from asia! i love this song so much, i wish more people heard it! so now tell me yours :D submitted by /u/chuuhavemyheart [link] [comments]

1.574. Describing the voices of different idols

  • 2 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I am being serious with my descriptions, but it may sound like a shitpost, so bear with me and my insanity for a moment. Nayeon (TWICE): Her voice sounds like plastic. Now, I understand this may sound derogatory, but hear me out. You see, a plastic voice could describe the sound of a voice that's had a lot of post recording touch ups to make it sound perfect. Nayeon sounds like that without the touch ups. Her voice is naturally shiny to me, very distinct. The first word that comes to mind when I hear her is 'plastic'. So I mean it in a good way. Yunah (ILLIT): Her voice is cool and refreshing. If you are familiar with those 35 packs of Extra Gum, there are 3 main mint flavors. They are Spearmint, Peppermint, and Polar Ice. Yunah sounds like the last one. Whenever her parts come up in a song, it sounds the way I imagine minty breath would if the smell had a voice. Sullyoon (NMIXX): She sounds like brass instruments. The horns are the best, specifically trombone and trumpets. Imagine a John Williams soundtrack, like his score for Superman. That's how her voice registers in my head. Very majestic, like royalty. Lots and lots of power. Yeji (ITZY): Sounds like air. And I'm not saying that as a pun. Her voice sounds very clear, and I imagine a trees jostling in the wind and a cloudless day, and wind makes me think of air, so she sounds like air to me. Jisoo (BLACKPINK): Sounds like maple syrup. She has a very thick, or maybe a better word is deep, voice. I like it. Syrup can be thick, too so maybe that's how I made the connection. So how would you describe idols' voices? submitted by /u/SageSageofSages [link] [comments]

1.577. Pulling ab*se jokes on fanwars is so concerning

  • 2 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I understand that fanwars are a common part of fandom culture, but how fucking stupid and insensitive do you have to be to accuse someone of being an abuser over a fanwar especially when you know deep down that she never did that. I don’t know how people can just throw around physical abuse jokes over a fanwar, as if it’s some kind of funny and shady, when so many people are actually suffering because of it. Yes, Irene made a big mistake she was an asshole for that, but I believe she already faced the consequences. She went on hiatus, lost a lot, apologized multiple times, and received massive hate. Even the stylist never said Irene hit her, so how did Kpop stans even come up with that kind of narrative? submitted by /u/MathFew4245 [link] [comments]

1.578. What are some of the best English lyrics in K-pop?

  • 2 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Not that I don't love the bad ones but I've seen lots of lists of the worst English lyrics, so I'm now curious about what you guys think are the best English lyrics. Specifically English, because I don't know nearly enough Korean to be able to recognize if a lyric is bad or not. Here are my personal criteria: I consider this the baseline for "good" lyrics: - Grammatically correct - Means something - Worded naturally - Makes sense in the context of the wider song meaning - Doesn't have any major cadence sins (in other words, the words that would be stressed if it was read aloud fall on stressed beats, and words that wouldn't be stressed do not.) Great lyrics might have some things like: - rhyming, internal rhyming, consonance, assonance, alliteration or other things that make lyrics pleasing to the ear - metaphor or other figurative language - an insightful or emotionally resonant message - wordplay - fits the musicality of the song- the lyrics are in a conversation with the production - other good lyrics surrounding it. If there's an incredible lyric in a song with otherwise not-so-good lyrics, it won't be able to shine as much. Also, what makes lyrics great will definitely depend on your personal preference, experiences, and biases. That's great! Tell me why you're really attached to a certain lyric. I'm asking this in large part because I want recommendations :) Obviously songs that were written by people who are fluent in English will tend to be better. (And if they're sung by people who speak English fluently, the singer can ideally help catch issues during recording and might stress words in a more natural way.) But not always. I think there are a lot of lyrics written by native English speakers that don't sound good, whether in k-pop or otherwise. I'd be especially interested in quality lyrics that you know were written by the artist, or by someone who isn't fluent in English. Writing solid lyrics in a language that isn't your mother tongue is super impressive! submitted by /u/FishermanOne889 [link] [comments]

1.579. HYBE x GEFFEN has (today) started new GLOBAL GIRL GROUP AUDTIONS after KATSEYE

  • 2 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Looks like new change is coming to kpop labels, Coed groups, Global Groups, Localised groups like the new latin american group that is about to debut under HYBE. HYBE has their foots in all these 3 types of new markets and is leading the pack among big labels. Kpop bubble is not growing and has only made competition tougher for new groups when the pie is already limited. The new Global Girl group will be debuting maybe after 3 years so 4 years after KATSEYE Debut. Is this going to be a generation wise thing for global groups. Like KATSEYE, dear ALICE and VCHA in the 1st generation then in next 4 years other companies will also catch up and we will see many new global groups debuting. submitted by /u/tooshydooshy [link] [comments]

1.580. the kpop bubble has burst and that's okay

  • 2 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

i know it's counterproductive to bring up things that happen on twitter because that site is the devil but back when i used twitter i saw people qrting kchartsmaster's acc whenever they posted a group's cb streams on spotify. very rarely groups got actual high numbers, only a few groups get more than a million in 24 hours. i cant help but think that is an indicator of kpop's current popularity rather than specific groups "flopping". since kpop in general has lost popularity those groups have also lost fans, but i think debuting with 500k streams or less is a rather high number these days. why? this is just my personal opinion but i think kpop has completely lost focus and this newer generation doesnt really have an identity with the exception of a couple groups. anti black scandals dont help kpop's image and that's why casual fans have chosen to not give kpop groups a listen, can't say i blame them. what do you guys think? submitted by /u/Aggressive_Hair_2346 [link] [comments]

1.581. Which idols were instantly recognizable to you? And which ones took you longer to tell apart?

  • 2 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Were there any idols that you saw once and could easily recognize from then on? Including their names too. I'm not saying that the other members look alike, it's more like some members have super distinct faces so it's impossible to mix them up with anyone else. I'm curious to see if most of us find the same idols the be the most unique looking in their group and which ones take longer to tell apart or if it's entirely an individual thing. Some of the members that I mixed up at the beginning were: Gaeul and Leeseo, Hyein and Haerin, Jisoo and Rose, and Yuna and Lia. The rest of the members of these groups I could tell apart immediately with no confusion at all. submitted by /u/sachiko468 [link] [comments]
