69. Its hilarious how recently 2 major it-girls have heavily fumbled their popularity within public discourse.

Do Idols not have managers regarding their own accounts? Karina's political post and Chaewon's dog video are two major examples that have tainted their images quite a lot. Its crazy how idols from two major labels have fumbled with something so simple. submitted by /u/Decent-Depth-1423 [link] [comments]

I feel like in kpop idols in general have really toxic relationships with food, due to the pressures from the media, fans, and culture in general. I'm curios to know which idols in your favorite groups have the healthiest relationship with food? 1 would be the most and last would be the least healthy. submitted by /u/Sea-Republic8892 [link] [comments]

79. Who are some K-pop idols you think wouldn't get first place in their own lookalike contest and why?

  • 17 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

So yeah we a lot of us know about the theory where if Clark Kent participated in a Superman lookalike contest he wouldn't even win and since there have been some (embarassing) kpop lookalike contests that happened before, who are some K-pop idols that wouldnt score first place in their own lookalike contest? Honestly, Psy and JYP or some of the best candidates for this. A lot of K-pop idols have very recognizable faces and its easy to tell the difference between an actual K-pop idol and some normal guy pretending to be one. But then you have idols with lookalikes...like Minhyuk from BTOB who is basically a buff Soobin. I mean the resemblance is SOO uncanny especially from certain angles ngl. submitted by /u/KwonSoo-young [link] [comments]

81. I don’t buy it when people are asking aespa to “go back to kwangya”

  • 18 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

This complain seems to pop up everytime aespa releases something nowadays, but I just don’t buy it. Not that I DON’T like Kwangya. I just find it ironic, because kpop stans were extremely critical of aespa initially. Just take a look at old threads about aespa on Reddit. Black Mamba was called “generic”, Next Level was looked down upon (“why can’t people make normal songs anymore” popped up a lot

), and Savage was called cringe. So I don’t think kpop stans liked the Kwangya concept. They like nostalgia, they like saying that they were here when this happened, but I don’t think they know how to enjoy a song in the moment, as it is happening. I can’t think of very many kpop songs now considered iconic that were universally praised upon release, despite what people will say later. Remember, it’s not about liking or not something, everyone has different opinions about this, it’s more about revisionism. submitted by /u/beautyandmadness [link] [comments]

84. I Think People Should Start Using The Search Function More and This Is A Hill I Will Never Come Down From.

  • 18 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

So this post was inspired from this meme from a circle jerk subreddit and found it funny I frequent film photography, piracy and kpop subreddits that have existed for a long time and many of these subreddits have existing subject threads and a plethora of information on the sidebars of the subreddit. However, I find that many user for the life of them cannot figure out how search works or how to search for keywords relevant to what they're looking for. I've seen people just post cameras and ask what camera is this with the entire name of the camera on the face of the camera or they post a picture of someone who has direct flash on them and ask how they get the effect when it's literally just direct flash on someone as if it's something special??? Or if it's kpop subreddits people who ask if there's any safe kpop stores they can order from but don't indicate what country they're from or if they're fine with international stores with free shipping over a certain amount or what the general budget is. There's also questions about group members on their activities and solo projects or asking about on a groups subreddit about lore/history or earlier content even though you could look to the right and see an archive list or member profile page linked. You just see the same questions asked over and over and over and you just wonder if people are trolling or something. meanwhile the piracy and datahoarder subreddit have people asking what they should pirate or save not even just how like ?????? why are you asking other people what you should download or save are you ok??? Like I get it if they want to get subjective answers and just talk to people about a topic but there's an insane amount of people asking about the same objective questions everyday or ask questions that have been answered before and it would be quicker to make an effort to search for things rather than make a post and wait for someone to maybe answer but nah lemme post another one. Something something this one is mine and shiny. Is this like a UI thing like people just miss the search function up top, tech or like website navigation literacy? Do people just not bother to look for hobby wikis, blogs or old forum posts about their interests anymore? Anyways please start using that bar above or a search engine it’s really useful and you don’t really need spam your own thread asking a question to something that has decades of news articles and conversations around it. You can also find a lot of fascinating conversations that were held in the past or blogs that give a snapshot to what fan culture was like. submitted by /u/moomoomilky1 [link] [comments]

87. Unemployed k-pop girl group fan listens to *every* girl group discography—Day 1: Y

  • 18 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I’m listening to and ranking all the singles, EPs and albums by K-pop and K-pop-adjacent girl groups using a tier list. Including: Original Japanese singles/albums Subunits and solos within official group albums OSTs Not including: Solos and subunits outside of group albums Covers, remastered versions, or remixes First slide: ranking of songs within the group Second slide: ranking in the context of other girl groups These are just my personal opinions, music is subjective! What I like and how I rank these songs may not line up with your tastes. I won’t take into account scandals, popularity, or other outside factors, only the music itself. For Y, I listened to: Young Posse Heard their name often but haven't given them any fair chances, apart from hearing XXL quite often. Gotta say, this group has very high highs and very low lows. I fell in love with “Skyline” at first listen. I highly recommend this song, a very unique blend between R&B, jersey club, and hip-hop, and also a comfortable length of 3:22. The group fares best with this sound. And then there are songs like Mac & Cheese, where I'm wondering what the hell I just listened to. Some of their rap songs are nice, and some are too hood unnie-esque. They sound very Dr. Dre inspired, and 80s-90s rap inspired in general. Top 3: Skyline Cooing (ahhh, I wish this was longer!) Blue Dot Bottom 3: Mac & Cheese Money Bank XXL Would love to hear what everyone else thinks of their discography too! submitted by /u/Armys_blink_once [link] [comments]
