How did Manon become an idol in only one year without prior experience?

From all I know, she had no experience before going to dream academy but in one year she suddenly became an idol. HOW? Was she picked just for her looks and star quality at first? This makes becoming an idol feel so easy compared to other careers like a violin soloist which takes decades. I might just be misinformed so please correct me, I just made this post because I was curious on how she did it so fast submitted by /u/AnthonyViolin [link] [comments]

6. Do you also feel like you constantly have to think of the KPop song with the same sample?

So for a few weeks now I constantly have to think of an ATEEZ's song called "Blind" that uses the same sample as "Home pt. 2" by the German singer Nico Santos whenever his song plays on the radio. IDK why... Nico Santos's song comes up on the radio, I recognize the used sample and than boom think of ATEEZ ... Do you have same the problem with a western song when you know the sample from a KPop song before? I'm linking both songs so you can listen to this to see what I mean with the sample Blind: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RddYA7D2UXg Home pt. 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DLfHTqZcFBk submitted by /u/Beautiful_Yellow_682 [link] [comments]

7. Why is nobody putting out a hit song??

  • 4 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

We didn’t appreciate how good we had it in 2023. Every group was dropping hits, every group was firing on all cylinders. We had Cupid, Super Shy, Bite Me, Bouncy, Queencard, I Am, Sugar Rush Ride, Tinnitus, Super, Seven, Standing Next To You, Perfect Night, Eve Psyche et al, Lalalala, Drama, Rover, Fighting, Maniac (Viviz), like… we had HITS! Everyone was singing the lyrics, everyone was doing the dances, people actually LIKED the songs coming out. Last year was pretty dry, but we had Magnetic, we had Supernova, we had Smart, Crazy, Whiplash. We had SOMETHING! This year, we’ve got Like Jennie, Gnarly, and… that’s it. Where are the hits?? It’s like they’re not even trying anymore. When was the last time you listened to a new K-pop song and thought it sounded like a hit? You can NOT convince me that K-pop companies listened to any of the songs they released this year and thought “We’ve got a hit on our hands!” before sending it out. It’s like they don’t even care about enticing anyone who became interested after KPDH to stay and are just putting in the minimum effort to milk money from existing fans while they’re still around. It feels like there's no plan for the future. Nobody's ambitious, nobody's trying new things, nobody's even trying to release good music. It's like every K-pop company is secretly planning to close up shop in 2026 and is just clearing out whatever bullshit they’ve had in cold storage for years before liquidating their assets and calling it a day. I’ve been so nostalgic for good songs that I started reading past threads from the old times when actual hits were dropped. Look at this thread for God’s Menu. Look at Drunk-Dazed. Remember when people would actually be EXCITED after listening to a new song? Remember when they wouldn’t be talking about the AI or the song length or behind-the-scenes drama or "what's wrong with the industry," but instead would just be tweaking over how good the song is? Where did all the ambition go? Where did all the songwriting talent go? What is going on?? submitted by /u/eveningsnewestetoile [link] [comments]

9. My friend is too much into Stray Kids.

Ok so I’m not sure if it’s the best sub to share this story and ask for advice but I feel like this is where this conversation could even be since it’s a little intense, and where I could seek some advice. Also English is not my native language so bear with me please. So I’ve got a friend (33F) who I know for 1,5 years now, and for 3 years she’s a stay. I am myself too. But me and her other friend who I know (kpop fans and non-kpop fans) think that her fangirling came to a point where it’s no longer fun and supporting but depressing. Like she’s been on six shows of dominATE tour which she hadn’t have money for and now she’s in $20k debt with no job (cuz she needed to leave country to go there obviously). You can say me that’s just poor money management but apparently her life is completely empty without it. That all she ever speaks, ever watches, ever dreams of, almost only thing she spends money for (using credit cards usually) … I guess this is fangirl personality or something: before she discovered skz she’s been a fan of Tokyo Hotel for 10 years or something. Today she’s sosad bc she couldn’t go to Seoul to visit Encore in October. Like girl ok… You have more important problems? Or is this something I don’t get? I sometimes have a feeling she might end herself. Don’t get me wrong, she’s a sweetest person ever alive and I love her very much but this year things got kinda disturbing. And I don’t know how can I help her anymore. What’s your thoughts? Also I’m interested in everyone’s opinions on how the parasocial element of kpop participating in stories like this. I get a feeling that’s a very unhealthy part. submitted by /u/mollydadog [link] [comments]

12. Kpop fans have made hating Hybe their entire personality (It's craazy that you think my success has something to do with your failure)

  • 6 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Kpop fans have made hating Hybe their entire personality, and it's the craziest thing ever. It reminds me of the quote, "It's crazy you think my success has something to do with your failure." For example, today I saw a post on Twitter saying they missed school so they can make multiple accounts to vote against Seventeen and make sure no Hybe group advances, and I was just like, Wow! What is K-pop? Now, I will assume this person is probably 15 years old and in High School, coz who else is this crazy? Imagine making hating a group of people who have done nothing to you, your entire personality? Like, what do you expect will happen? coz I can assure you nothing will happen to these groups, no matter how much hate you throw at them. The only person wasting their lives and losing their sanity for K-pop is you. These idols you hate so much, all bcoz of a company, are busy living their lives and making money. I really hope these kids understand that sooner. I also saw a post saying if Seventeen advances, then it's payola and Hybe paid for it, lol! I don't know if this is a big 3 fans' coping mechanism or if they actually believe that Hybe is so connected that they can buy and award. If Hybe was that connected and reached to buy everything and anything, don't you think Junkook or Jimin would have won best K-pop those two years and not Lisa? Don't you think they would have bought it then for them? If Hybe had that capability, don't you think Jhope and Jin would have also been nominated? Don't you think Katseye and Seventeen would have advanced then to be the two finalists? Like, y'all are determined to undermine every success by a Hybe group, and it's becoming annoying. Like recently, a couple of Fifth Harmony and Little Mix fans posted for their fanbases to support Katseye and stays and blinks lost their minds. They accused those accounts of being paid by Hybe to post, lol. In their comments were something like, "How much did Hybe pay you?, etc. It was crazy. Mark, you, and they themselves were asking other fanbases to help, yet it's payola, and HYBE paid for Katseye fans to ask for help. There are also several communities formed with the sole purpose of hating a Hybe group, literally. Like someone wakes up every day with the sole purpose of checking what Hybe groups are doing so they can try to cancel them. Some of them don't even know what their fev are up to because their whole day is spent on dragging and hating the Hybe group. It's very funny at this point. It's out of control, it's becoming an obsession. submitted by /u/Accomplished_Low2452 [link] [comments]

14. Just because a group doesn't immediately match their peak with their next comeback doesn't mean they're flops now

  • 6 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Not every song is going to be a new peak, and that doesn't make a group or song a flop just because it didn't have the same performance as one of their most successful songs or runs to date. Right now it's Aespa and IVE going through this, as well as ILLIT to a degree, but I see it more with the other 2 groups due to their comebacks being more recent. Supernova, Armageddon, and Whiplash was a crazy good run by all means. One could arguably take it back to Spicy and Drama to count the build up to those three songs taking off. The last three will likely be remembered for a long time coming as a generational run. Dirty Work, while doing well in Korea, didn't do the same overall. Rich Man only had its official release today. A bit early to call it a flop but that's not stopping anyone. IVE from their debut up until Heya was really crazy as well, though Heya and Ascendio were not bad by any means, it is where the weird trend of branding IVE as flops started since it didn't win on Music Shows. I still remember when IVE Empathy dropped and Rebel Heart and Attitude were both branded as flops on this very platform. Then they got PAKs and music show wins. Leeseo went viral for doing the encore solo as well. Great time. We're at IVE Secret now. XOXZ is mid-flop. XOXZ wins on music show today. Sounds familiar. The thing I don't get is why a group is expected to match their peak immediately. It's not something that's easily surpassable. Missing it is to be expected. That doesn't mean it's a flop though. We're comparing the numbers to some of the most successful releases in all of k-pop. Those are outliers. It's fine if you don't like a song. That's a completely different thing, not everyone is going to like the same thing, and it's absurd to want to hear your own opinion coming out of everyone else's mouth. Everyone has different tastes. It's just really odd when someone will see a group have a generational run or set one of the most impressive records ever, then have a song or two that doesn't reach the same heights, and act like the group is dead now. submitted by /u/SageSageofSages [link] [comments]

16. aespa’s VFX designer is defending himself because of the AI allegations of the dog scene

  • 7 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I want to start saying that there are AI artists credited for this MV, but I want to talk about a specific scene that everybody was calling out assuming it was AI but isn’t. So the one that made this scene, the VFX designer of aespa, James Choe, posted the creative process (https://www.instagram.com/reel/DONYZoSEbX2/?igsh=ajJteGI2NGYyNTM=) as proof. He also posted more stories, saying things such as “not AI” and even showing happiness because there’s a post on X/Twitter going viral of his creative process, and he’s asking his followers to keep spreading so people stop accusing him of AI. I understand that we’re all frustrated about how much AI is being implemented in K-Pop content by companies, even the big ones. But NOT everything CGI/VFX is AI, and I personally think people should stop and research before instantly attacking creators. That being said, I love Rima Yoon (the director) and Rigend Film, but I do think she should stop involving AI altogether in her projects. Because her creators like James Choe then have to come out and defend their own art they worked very hard on. PD: If you guys are interested, you can check out all of his IG stories. He’s crediting all the people he worked with and they are also sharing the creative process for other scenes, like the car wreck (https://www.instagram.com/reel/DONw0bpkWnl/?igsh=MTh5MjZsMjl2b2cyMA==). submitted by /u/randomgirl852007 [link] [comments]

19. The constant 'so glad we didn't lose Yoonchae to Kpop' comments are extremely obnoxious

  • 7 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Like a few comments about it? Sure, but why does it seem like people can't find any other way to compliment this girl than this? It's such an odd comment. When are Eyekons going to realize that Katseye is and forever will be associated with Kpop? It's like they feel this overbearing need to tear down anything Kpop by comparing it to Katseye, and ofcourse the only comments they can come up with for the Korean member are comments saying how they're glad she's not part of some Kpop group. And why are they leaving comments like that as if the fans themselves aren't babying her like crazy? I get that she's the youngest, but I don't see anyone treating Lara (the second youngest) this way. The girl can't even swear without a bunch of fans freaking out. While she's not technically in a Kpop group, a lot of fans infantilize her (the way they like to do to Kpop idols too). I'm glad too that by her being in a global group, she seems to have a little bit more freedom than the average member in a regular kpop group. I do however have the feeling that this 'controlling nature' that a lot of kpop fans seem to have isn't far too different then a lot of Eyekons. Afterall, like 90% of eyekons are kpop fans themselves lol. submitted by /u/Due_Improvement_5699 [link] [comments]

23. I love the meaning behind IVE's songs/lyrics

  • 8 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

don't get me wrong, I love LOVE songs, and IVE have those too, but I love how their songs have this "for the girls" vibe. they really make me feel like that girl (iykyk) (btw, I know IVE is not the only group with this kind of songs, I'm not downgrading them, I'm just trying to appreciate IVE :) ) ex: "So you can love me, hate me You will never be, never be, never be me Try me, I'll break free You will never be, never be, never be me" — rebel heart "I'm that, I'm that girl I'm that, what? I'm that attitude I choose my own mood, I'm that attitude Even if I stumble, luck is always on my side I'm that, I'm that girl I'm that, ooh, I'm that attitude" — attitude "Look at me, look at me, look at me now A different me from yesterday, it’s thrilling Everything I'm afraid of makes my heart flutter now I'm in sky high" — I AM "Everyone is fighting on my own I’m not scared you should also come on If we are together to anywhere we go Oh no, what?" — be alright "Sometimes I can’t even understand the looks I get It feels unfair at times but I talk about the countless versions of me created from misunderstandings All of them are ‘me’ in the end Either way, I’m good It’s all good It’s not about who’s right or wrong Just like how we all love differently" — either way sorry if the translations are not correct submitted by /u/Weary_Occasion1287 [link] [comments]
