I noticed recently that every big 4 (even though I don't really consider hybe big 4) had or has a group that really was considered the most popular or influential of that respective generation. For 1st gen, I'd say SM had the most influential and popular group, that being H.O.T. They were the first kpop group to really make it big in my opinion. They had a fanbase, good members and honestly talent. I still find myself going back to H.O.T songs often. For 2nd gen, it was YG, with BIGBANG. They really made 1st place for me in 2nd gen, and I'm not even a hardcore listener. I was listening to BANG BANG BANG on Just Dance with my brother before I even knew what kpop was. And to top it off with them having the first kpop lightstick. For 3rd gen, it's HYBE, with obviously BTS. Not a lot of explanation needed for this one. The moment I say I like kpop, a local will assume it's BTS. That's how worldwide they are! I'm a gg stan so I've actually never stanned bts, but somehow I know all the members and can tell them apart ☠️ For 4th gen, it's JYP. Again, I'm not a bg stan but I do know that Stray Kids is big. I like their sound and concept, but i do know that some people are still torn on who's 4th gen leader. I just know they really made it big in their generation. thats it lmao tell me what you think submitted by /u/zyannasdreams [link] [comments]
And it was so good!! Omg i didn't expect it to like it so much, bc honestly, as a 25 year old semi-casual listener i didn't really think I was the main target audience of the movie lmao but it was so much fun! It was very on the nose but in the best way possibe! Like the name is literally kpop demon hunters hahahahha the writers knew exactly what they were doing! I normally dont really care for hapyy sappy endings (example I LOOOVE avatar but i HATE the kataraXaang ending so much) but [SPOILER!!] i lowkey wished rumi and jinu ended up together 🥹 Also i nearly cried when they started singing This is what it sounds like together 🥹😭 Anywayss just wanted to share this hahaha Ooh edit to add: the only thing they really missed out on were fanchants! Bc that's how you really feel the power of fans! it would've been so cool if they incorporated that into the story or concert scenes! What did you guys think of the movie?? submitted by /u/thecatiswise [link] [comments]
The hate Blackpink is getting is honestly disgusting. Criticism is fine, but this has gone way beyond that. As a woman, it makes me sick to see the casual slut-shaming, name-calling, and all the dehumanizing stuff. And the hate they’re getting right now just because J-Hope went to their concert? How is that normal? People saying he was bored, forced, judging them, left because it was a mess… Really ? Jennie getting called all kinds of names over a video where she’s fixing her outfit. What’s even the point? Hate affects people. Idk how Blackpink deals with it… or maybe they just deleted social media atp. And I can’t even ignore it. Everywhere I go on social media, same comments, same fandoms behind it. Before anyone starts, yes, Blinks can be toxic too, people online are just getting meaner in general. It’s sad. submitted by /u/Frdmpm [link] [comments]
Downvoting and how recklessly people do it is often discussed on this site, often as a way to express how biased a sub is. Completely normal, inoffensive comments get downvoted regularly while other more questionable comments don't always get the same treatment. So I'm asking, what to you is a good reason to downvote someone? There are obvious things like weirdly bitter and often hateful posts/comments. I make it a point to downvote misinformation. Lies spread so easily online, and are easy to use as fuel for hate trains. So if I see someone spouting false information, I downvote, and if I have the source on hand to prove them wrong, I comment it as well. I also downvote the low quality bait content. submitted by /u/SageSageofSages [link] [comments]
I am a dive, I love ive so much. I am also a multi stan. I don't stan anyone particular in the group. Recently I noticed that wonyoung is everywhere. Her face and voice but not on a brand sense where you step outside and you see a billboard. No like, you step outside and see her clone sense. I was on TikTok and I just kept seeing some western influencers just looked like wonyoung. There is this one black girl I saw on red note and she looked like the black version of wonyoung. And then honestly I thought it was a bit mean but there was this girl replicating wonyoung voice the 'california, California?' and not gonna lie. It was kinda acurate. Scrolling on red note you might come across a bunch of wonyoung look alikes and sometimes there not even trying. It's just how they look. Even just regular tiktok. Or at least the side I am on. Now my sister was watching katseye's ost song I think it was called timelaspe. But she kept noticing how yoonchae, sounded like wonyoung. And I'm sorry, please die hard wonyoung stans don't kill me. But wonyoung fakes her voice, she has a naturally deeper voice. And her voice is kinda fake, and to some people her voice to them is their normal voice. My sister was saying how wonyoung is duplicatable. Because (let's not lie she has got some stuff done. Other than naturally losing weight) but her makeup and face is duplicatable. Not her aura but face. And her voice. Maybe it's just me. But it's the same way I notice how more western singers sound like Ariana grande but that might be just me. I mean so many idols got bashed for trying to 'look like wonyoung' like I think Minnie and maybe someone from aespa I forget who. I think ningning. But it's crazy submitted by /u/_Boreddd_ [link] [comments]

disclaimer: even if he is my ult bias this is how i feel for idols in general. Under a tiktok post, people were complaining that Taemin’s nose has changed and people were just sending hate. I commented how i think that this is a non-issue and it happens alot in the industry and people were disagreeing with me?? Majority of K-pop idols have gotten any cosmetic surgery and it’s extremely normalized in Korea. Who knows if the company forced him or he did it himself? Some people said that it wasn’t a rhinoplasty but something else. Either way people pick on some specific idols for surgery and now Taemin 😭. Loving all the BTS and Blackpink interactions this year as an ArmyBlink, even if they're just small moments. It's kind of surprising how the two biggest groups have never done a collab or really interacted, especially since that's so common in other industries. Really hoping Blackpink shows up at BTS’s tour too! 🤞 I’m not saying you have to love or care about everyone your favorites are associated with, but it costs nothing to be respectful. There’s no need to leave hateful or distasteful comments, especially when it’s directed at people who don’t even know you. submitted by /u/Acrobatic_Article406 [link] [comments]

So I’ve been quietly working on a passion project called IdolLink, I’m not rich, not connected, not even tech-trained just determined. Think: behind-the-scenes content, live rooms, language learning with idols, and a fan zone that avoids all the usual online toxicity. It just got noticed by the Korean government through K-Startup, and now I’m in the running for the next round. It still feels surreal. I hope i make pass this round also and once i get the letter i will come back with a follow up submitted by /u/Unhappy_Winter_8502 [link] [comments]
I know many say this mockingly, but we mustn't forget the reality: many companies don't know how to manage their groups, whether it's promoting them or keeping them in groups or dealing with scandals. There's no curse; it's just that companies don't know much more than debuting idols in the hopes of making a few bucks. Some do their jobs well, and others don't. submitted by /u/_issio [link] [comments]
Not saying all are innocent but I know there are some that make mistakes, who genuinely want well for their people/person they’re working for. Not everything they do which garners a negative reaction means they are praying on the downfall of the K-artist or trying to sabotage them. If your artist would make the same mistake as the staff, some of yall wouldn’t even care and tell them it’s okay… submitted by /u/skzshyperver [link] [comments]

when idol dresses certain way, do something with their hair, have short lines in the song, have less fans, don't got solo's, its just the idol whos in charge of it, not everything the companies is in control of it, i see stuff like "they made her dress short, they made his hair like this, she doesn't get enough lines, ect" like sorry but im pretty sure the idol gets a say in this, they're not always the victim, its not a hate on anyone its just my opinion, opinions are valid thats why i say mine, so please stop treating the idols that they're babies and need save from the big evil company, come on guys, I've seen thoes trucks that blinks send to blackpink's company telling the ceo to let them have comeback as if they ceo holding them back, i don't wanna say its embarrassing but guys come on wake up, maybe blackpink done wanna even comeback and wanna focus on their solo, have you seen the last concert, they don't seem to even wanna be there and i don't think they're actually friends, more like co-workers, so if the group don't wanna comeback you just gonna keep sending trucks? what? you wanna the ceo to force them? isnt that what youve been fighting for? to let the idol be'free'? i swear guys i just want you to think twice about this whole thing and thank you for reading submitted by /u/FullTea6995 [link] [comments]

ILLIT hasn’t done anything to deserve the level of hate they’re getting. They didn’t steal songs. They didn’t plagiarize anyone. They didn’t cheat. They didn’t offend any country. They didn’t laugh on live or spit on the ground. All they did was debut, promote, and succeed. And somehow, that was enough for half the KPop fandom to decide they had to be this year’s villains. Why? Simple: It’s not about what they did. It’s about what they represent. ILLIT represents the idea that HYBE can launch another successful group without Min Hee-jin, without a “revolutionary aesthetic,” without some philosophical campaign behind it. And that stings. Because a lot of people aren’t really defending NewJeans. They’re defending the narrative that HYBE is “nothing without ADOR.” But then ILLIT came along, smiling, dancing, going viral, selling like crazy… and that was a slap in the face to everyone who was waiting for them to flop. Are they as unique as NewJeans? No. Do they have the same cultural impact? Also no. But they don’t need to be to succeed. They just have to work. And they work. That’s the problem. A lot of you aren’t criticizing ILLIT because they’re “generic” or because they “took the easy route.” You’re projecting. It hurts to see your enemy winning. It bothers you to see five girls taking up a spot you wanted to watch burn. And honestly? That’s sad. Because in your attempt to punish a company, you ended up hating five girls who aren’t even old enough to vote yet. So maybe next time you find yourself writing an essay about how “ILLIT has no identity,” you should stop and ask yourself if that’s coming from a real musical analysis or just a desperate need for the universe to prove you right. Spoiler: it won’t. submitted by /u/Seesawey [link] [comments]
