3.609. people want underage idols in a group but than get mad when they do something that screams uneducated

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

In my past 10 years of KPOP it’s always the underage members who end up doing or saying something they shouldn’t I keep going back to a certain idol as a 14 year old and cringing at it, some of the stuff he said in his youth. There’s other idols too but I’m not gonna bring up past controversy. Don’t expect an educated person to grow up after training and debuting as a minor. You guys want 13-18 year olds to debut and they’ve been training since they where 10… The idol system was never meant for a hormonal teenager and nobody seems to take that into consideration. It’s not just their age it’s the industry their put in. Mental health for these idols is almost non existent especially when your having your 20 year old leader raise you. So to the people who want underage idols I think it’s disgusting how you put them to the standards of fully developed adults and expect them to dance sing and speak like robots. If you want underage idols be ready for the consequences of it. submitted by /u/SwimIcy9877 [link] [comments]

There is so much to unpack but a lot of it seems clear as day. There are Manon Antis who like the group but hate her and the company is constantly putting her in situations where they can project their hate towards her.Even just talking about her mistreatment causes outrage. b submitted by /u/LittQueen101 [link] [comments]

3.614. If korean fans of idols know who they are dating. How does it never get out?

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I'm imagining big idols like jungkook. He has crazy sasaengs and fansites who follow him around all the time. And he has a big big fanbase, so I suppose a large number of people among k fans know, how is it possible they act this crazy but they never send it out? Recently jikook too said that "you already know everything about us pls stop calling". What exactly is the mentality behind it?? Is it some kind of twisted fantasy where it feels like they're the closest people to the idols and no one else should know about it?? submitted by /u/Expensive_Age_3266 [link] [comments]

3.618. Sometimes I honestly wish I never stanned BTS

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Sometimes I honestly wish I never stanned BTS. I know many might judge this opinion, but I need to get it off my chest. There are times I wish I’d never gotten into K-pop at all. Wherever I go, BTS seems to be hated for no real reason. I started stanning them in 2018 and was shamed by classmates who said they "looked gay." As BTS got more popular in my country, the hate only got worse. People mocked them constantly, especially on Instagram. In 2019, I joined Twitter hoping to connect with other K-pop fans and army. At first, it was great. BTS posted often and the community felt active. But things changed once they opened personal Instagram accounts and stopped posting on Twitter. I took a 2-year break from Twitter for studies, and when I came back during their enlistment period, the space felt unrecognizable. I saw horrible, nasty posts about BTS getting thousands of likes. It wasn’t even constructive criticism, just pure hatred (no it was not even clapback) It was especially bad during the whole HYBE vs. Min Hee-jin situation and when Suga fell off his scooter. The comments were brutal, and it drained me mentally until I deleted the app. Army really messed up by getting involved in the Hybe vs. Newjeans drama. That gave haters a free excuse to target BTS. While some hate toward the fandom is understandable due to toxic fans spreading misogyny and hate toward other groups, the amount of hate Bts gets as a group isn’t justified. The actions of certain fans shouldn’t be a reason to target and dehumanize the artists themselves. And let’s be real some K-pop stans (especially SM and YG stans) don’t even hate bts just because of army, but out of some deep-rooted jealousy or rivalry. After that, I avoided most K-pop spaces except for following members on Instagram. I thought of joining the kpop and bts subs here in reddit thinking it was more balanced. People had fair opinions and didn’t seem as toxic(lol) I thought maybe this is where I can be part of a healthier community. But then I came across btssnark. I didn’t know what “snark” even meant I thought it was a fan space, but it was filled with hatred. People called it a “criticism space,” but that was just a cover. It was vile. What made it worse was how others defended it: “Other groups had snark subs too” or “It’s run by army, so it’s fine.” I get it toxic army behavior has hurt people. But that doesn’t justify the normalized hate Bts receives now. Btssnark has more followers than any other snark sub, yet people still claim BTS isn’t the most hated group. Meanwhile, whenever anything happens in the K-pop community, BTS becomes the punching bag. I’ve even seen situations where another group does something culturally inappropriate, but the top comments are about BTS. Like... what? Stanning BTS has honestly become exhausting. Sometimes I really wish I never got into them. But at the end of the day, seeing them still brings me joy. The problem was never BTS it’s the toxic side of K-pop fandoms that made it so hard. And that’s the saddest part. submitted by /u/thekiteinthesky [link] [comments]

3.619. Music Difference Between Old and New Generation

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

It's just my perception but old generations and new generations of kpop groups has this distinct sound or a formula, no they are not similar but you just can immediately categorize it as either old or new generation. Especially the new kpop groups, majority of new groups has the same vocal tone, 3 vocalists and they all almost sound the same. Whilst in the older gen of kpop they have the individual but still works as a group, they even harmonize. Many rising new groups but non of them sets them apart from each other aside from their pretty faces and excellent dance skills submitted by /u/spacecleaner [link] [comments]

3.624. Is making it into the Melon Top 100 considered an achievement?

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

How hard is it to get into the Melon Top 100? I was surprised to learn that some well known idol groups, like the ones with huge fanbases, still have a hard time making it onto the chart. From what I’ve seen in K-pop communities, even if a group is performing well on global platforms like Spotify or YouTube Music, or other south korean music platform like Genie, Bugs, Flo, etc they don’t really get full recognition unless they chart on Melon. It’s like Melon still holds this weird standard for "success" submitted by /u/matt_vaghn [link] [comments]

3.625. I hate how tbl is wasting meovv's potential

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

This year meovv had a semi hit with hands up. It was doing really well on Spotify,at some point it was one of the most streamed 5th gen songs of the year and received more than a million streams daily. It's also their first song to chart and peak relatively high on melon. I thought tbl would take advantage of it because it was really their moment,it was really their chance to expand meovv's reach to more people but they didn’t do a lot with it. They did better with mewo era promos (they used to be even less) but it wasn't much other than a lot of music show performances. Adp was everywhere for their debut promos, music show performances, interviews, tiktoks, showing that they have the ability to properly promote their grps, they just choose to not do it with meovv. During debut era things were even worse, to the point where it felt like they disappeared off the face of the earth after the it ended. Like,I caught myself wondering what about meovv cause it felt like they just came and went. Hell, neither their debut nor first comeback got a physical, while adp got physicals right away. Now,they announced their jp debut just 4 days prior to release. Tbl acts like meovv is an already established act and not a rookie grp in a competitive environment where they need to use all their resources and abilities to put them and keep them on people's radars. I'm afraid meovv will fall of and will become one of those grps that don't get attention outside of their fandom even though they have the potential to be a notable act of their generation submitted by /u/Alive-Pitch-9180 [link] [comments]
