1) Sometimes your group just isn't popular because people aren't vibing with it 2) Some of the groups with the most promo don't actually sell that much 3) Good streaming numbers are not relevant compared to album, merch, brand deals and concert ticket sales 4) You don't know more about marketing or production than the teams from these multimillion dollar companies submitted by /u/tyrico [link] [comments]
Hello, bffs! I've been compiling some similarities of kpop-fan culture and sports-fan for research. Please drop your most creative signs and banners below and what does it say/your experience with it! I'll do a compare and contrast between the two sub-cultures. Thank you! submitted by /u/Choice_Sport7466 [link] [comments]

This won’t be a long post, I promise. So when are we going to stop obsessing over which idol got plastic surgery and where? Some folks really believe that idols are out here getting their faces chopped up every month, even with how busy and in the news they always are. Because why are you pulling up photos of two different looks, with two different makeup styles probably done by two different makeup artists too, just so you can prove that an idol got a procedure just because you think they did. “Omg how did they loose so much face fat in two months?” Baby starving, that’s how. They’re not eating, always working, of course their weight is gonna yo-yo. Dropping their names for those instagram “plastic surgeons” to confirm whether they got plastic surgery is one road I don’t even wanna tread right now. Now, I’m not denying that idols get procedures done, PS included but the obsession to prove that they did is just downright weird and disrespectful. If they don’t openly talk about it, neither should we. submitted by /u/Reel-Trouble34 [link] [comments]

tldr: some nugu group fans tend to think they’re better than others because of how many interactions they get. This rant is going to be all over the place, but I saw a post that said smth like “are you actually a fan of that nugu group or do you just like that it’s easier to be parasocial with them” and it immediately reminded me of 2 people in particular. I listen to a pretty large amount of groups. I don’t keep up with every single one all the time, but my main group falls under the nugu category. I hate when people over use that word, but I think it actually does apply here. Nugu groups consistently gather some of the most parasocial fans ever & I feel bad. I used to think that I wasn’t an “important” fan because I wasn’t constantly winning fansigns or fancalls and my biases didn’t know my name. Now, I understand that it’s because I don’t really care to spend all of that money. HOWEVER, I realize that the fans that do that 100% think they’re more important than everyone else and I find them to be so insufferable. I know this one girl who gets into every single fancall / fansign for a nugu boy group & you can tell she’s one of those fans who thinks that because she gets a lot of interactions, she’s the most “popular” & is lowkey friends with her biases or something. She is constantly bragging on her account / in our gc about how they replied to her weverse messages or that she won a fancall & speaks about the members as if she actually knows them. Like they’re friends. We’re a pretty small gc, nobody else acts this way besides her. Idk if they’ve noticed but I don’t want to ask in case it blows up in my face. I went to a concert for a group in June & she was there, I remember on day 2 she was standing right behind me basically screaming in my ear trying to get interactions with all of the members. I’m not even gonna lie, it felt like they kept going to her side of the stage to smile and wave which did make me feel a bit weird. My entire section was getting ignored for one girl. Does that sound jealous or is it kinda strange?? I wouldn’t have cared if it was just a few times from 1 or two members, but it was literally every one of them & happened during the entire event. There’s a fan on tiktok, not sure if I can name the group, but she has been getting into every fan call / fansign since their debut pretty much & refers to one of the members by their real name. People have called her weirdness out but her fans (because i guess people think glazing fans that meet idols frequently will get them a spot too?) either call everyone jealous, or literally say “they’ve known each other for years, he loves her.” She even shows up to concerts she knows they’re going to be at (in the audience) so she can pretend like her bias randomly noticed her. Can we clarify, your idol does not know you. You know your idol. You may think you know your idol, but their personality in private is most likely 100% different. It’s possible you wouldn’t even like them if you knew how they actually acted. A transactional relationship is not a real one. I don’t notice stuff like this happening in nugu girl group fandoms, but it wouldn’t shock me if it does. Fancalls are the worst thing to happen to kpop in my opinion. It enables fans to feel better than others just because they’ve gotten into like 50 already & the group debuted last year. I thought they’d go away after 2020-2021, but no. Even after people have shown up on fan calls wearing lingerie, saying weird shit asking idols if they can call them mommy etc. When will we be freed from this?! & I’ve seen atinys and roadies complaining about the same person getting into fan calls every single time & that one member was like “of course I remember you, I just saw you yesterday.” 😬… This post is so long. It just really does annoy me that some nugu group fandoms constantly feel like there’s always that one person who thinks they’re the most popular & is friends with the members. I know big groups can have these type of fans but with smaller ones it is sooooo much worse. submitted by /u/arosaki [link] [comments]

Hey everyone, so I'm not asking for the best kpop song or your favourite or for the best kpop song to show to newbies. No, I'm asking what is the song that sounds most like kpop to you? Which song would you use to test if someone might vibe with the genre as a whole? (Obviously this is a crazy overgeneralization and kpop is not really 'one' genre, but that's the point! it's just for fun :D ) So, if you could only pick one as a representative of kpop....? submitted by /u/MikasaMinerva [link] [comments]
