The post is inspired by a few random fancall clips I've recently seen on social media where idols sounded like they were speaking into a $10 microphone from 2003 and the video looked like a low bitrate 360p image being sent through McDonald's Wi-fi network. It's just so funny to me since generally speaking the production quality in K-pop is pretty high. Even for personal YT videos idols are using very good vlog cameras that can easily handle 1080p60 resolution with quick auto-focus. And obviously all music shows and variety content channels usually utilize amazing video and audio equipment. But fancalls seem to be the only exception since I see some really low quality examples pretty often. Like they legitimately look worse than my work Zoom meetings. And I can't fathom why, especially with all of those fancall events being scheduled in advance so the staff should have plenty of time to just prepare a decent camera/microphone setup with stable Internet connection beforehand. submitted by /u/Asleep_Swing2979 [link] [comments]

I’ve been in the K-pop community for just over a year now and when it comes to photo card trading, I’ve always stuck trading and selling in my country (UK) mostly on Instagram/Vinted/Depop and i really want to start trading and selling to the EU and even overseas to the Americas/Asia for example but I don’t know how to send letters for cheap 😭 Or just send letters outside of the UK in general any guidance and help from another person would be greatly appreciated and used 🫶🏼 submitted by /u/tomato_s0oup [link] [comments]
I've recently been into kpop fan created content and was wondering who are some good kpop content creators/micro-influencers from Southeast Asian countries (Indonesia, Malaysia etc.). Thank you! submitted by /u/VegetableIntern4947 [link] [comments]
I've been noticing AI music being released under artists I follow on Spotify, from k-pop to shibuya-kei to even shoegaze artists. The k-pop artists I've noticed with AI music released under their profile are LUNA (soloist, also from f(x)) and k-pop group BerryGood. I am not okay with this I'm afraid more AI music is going to be released under other artists profile, k-pop or not. I'd like to discuss this and ask why this is happening because I cannot find anything about it, am I the only person that has noticed? Is it just on Spotify it's happening? I hope this will be fixed submitted by /u/Miserable-Cricket-14 [link] [comments]
I was casually listening to 2nd/3rd Gen kpop playlist on Spotify when 4 minute's VOLUME UP randomly played. I used to listen to this song all the time wayback when it was released, listening to it right now as a grown adult made me realize how hard this fucking song is. Link to Music: https://youtu.be/R_yTwnGnOw8?si=DofjFY-ejFUDYW_y Verses: the dynamics/ shifting of this song is kinda hard especially when you cannot balance your falsetto/head voice. Constanst shift from falsetto to normal technique can be tricky. Pre-choruses: long high note from B4-E5. 1st and 2nd pre chorus. Chorus: Phrasing and Belting: long E5 note. Last Chorus: the adlibs, blending, phrasing. THIS PIECE IS ONE OF A KIND. submitted by /u/SweetSuspicious7870 [link] [comments]
I don’t know if this the right flair but whatever. Context: Lara was just minding her own business posting a photo of her at the beach and received the first text in her comments. HYBE was smart by not calling them a Kpop after all because if they were branded as such they wouldn't be as popular. I don't think they have much more freedom than other idols under HYBE except swearing and coming out but if you look at Kpop groups with mostly non Korean members, they never go far and it's not really because of the music but simply because a lot K-pop Stans fetish South Koreans. They can't project their fantasies on foreigners. That's why KARD that isn't Kpop is much more considered as such, because the members are Korean. It's no wonder Eyekons are so strict about KTS being a global group. (There are also underlying stereotypes of SoKoreans but we already talked about this here) It's much easier to just say « Katseye isn't Kpop » than to deal with those type fanatics. It puts an end to the conversation before it even starts. Here I don't know wth that person is talking about. What do you mean « I don’t want my idols to have that type of freedom. » ? It just reinforces my idea the real Idols #1 enemy isn't the company but the so called « fans ». Whenever I think about idols restrictions (weight loss, dating, fanservice, etc...) everything is manufactured to please the fans and actively fuel their delusions. I bet this person isn't even Korean and has a twisted version of "pure" of Koreans. (The original post was on r/kpoopheads but it’s a circlejerk sub so the post gets deleted if you put too much serious stuffs.) submitted by /u/yofavcity [link] [comments]
Not every comeback is a cinematic universe. Not every MV is a metaphor. Not every lyric is some cryptic message waiting to be decoded. Sometimes, It’s just a fun beat, a cool outfit, and a chorus that makes you forget about your crappy day. And that’s cool too. There’s this pressure now, like you have to turn every kpop release into some experience to justify liking it. Suddenly that random glitch effect means “loss of innocence,” and that crop top is “social commentary.” Be serious. Sometimes a cool dance break is just… a cool dance break. K-pop was never meant to be that deep. It was meant to entertain. To be addictive. To be loud and bright and ridiculous and joyful. That is the art. That is the point. You don’t need a thinkpiece to enjoy music. You don’t need to explain your joy. You don’t need to defend what makes you feel good. Kpop doesn’t have to be deep to matter. Sometimes, it just has to hit. And if it made you smile today it's enough. submitted by /u/Seesawey [link] [comments]
I just watched this clip from the official Running Man channel because I couldn't resist clicking after reading the title: "Asa is an elementary school dropout". I for sure thought it was a clickbait until I watched the video and heard her say it herself. She admitted that because she began her trainee life during elementary school, she ended up not completing her elementary education since she had to move to Korea. It’s freaking wild to hear something like that phrased so bluntly, I'm at a loss for words. The idea that she didn’t even get to finish the most basic level of schooling through a standard system is just… insane. Was she homeschooled after moving to Korea? And if so, how would that even work for a Japanese child in a completely different country, not even able to speak the language? What kind of curriculum would she follow? Did YG step in and provide some form of basic education? I have so many questions running through my head. Whatever the case may be, I just can’t wrap my head around the fact that her parents were okay with letting her drop out of elementary school to become a trainee with absolutely no guarantee of ever debuting. As someone who already feels uneasy when idols skip out on finishing high school, this hit me hard. I just feel bad. This really shouldn't be the way things are done. submitted by /u/betterthan88 [link] [comments]
