I just started getting into Kpop recently but this question has been haunting me. I still don't know much about all the groups and idols so I'd like some help in resolving this. I've been a bunny since debut and started standing illit a bit after magnetic came out before the legal dispute between newjeans and ador started I don't know how to feel about newjeans anymore due to hanni lying about illits manager telling illit to ignore her and their affiliation with a bunny known for harrasing other groups, but I do also feel bad for them and feel they have been manipulated by min heejin the illit hate train that happened at debut was caused by min heejin but also largely newjeans and I feel terrible for the illit girls all this to say I have no idea where to place myself, I'm not sure how to feel about newjeans anymore but I loved them and their music so much I don't want to let it go, I wanted to hear others opinions specially people who stan(ned) newjeans and illit submitted by /u/Then_General5061 [link] [comments]

Ok guys hear me out on my ideas of a sequel... 1 Overarching Idea: I think if they EVER did a sequel, having Celine be the 2nd villain would be interesting. Seeing as she never redeemed herself with accepting Rumi. It could allow the story to bring back Jinu or more characters to prove that demons are misunderstood. Showing Celine how Gwi - Ma is the main antagonist to the overall world. 2 Framing of story: We could have the story take 1-2 years later, seeing that Huntrix is back from hiatus and is planning a world tour or are already on it. This means we could get different locations (i.e., Japan, US, EU), yk. Then they'd notice that the Hamoon has torn in like lets say, Japan. Where Gwi - Ma is rebuilding strength and is holding Jinu hostage or something. 3 More ideas: We could even get more lore behind Rumi's parents. See what happened to the remaining Saja Boy's fans. They could be a factor that's tearing the Hamoon. Or giving power back to Gwi -Ma Another idea is giving Rumi the ability to go to both worlds. Focusing on Mira and Zoey backgrounds (can tie with #2 idea) Celine POV of Rumi's Parents (can tie with #1 idea) Anyways, if you couldn't this might be my current hyper-fixation! Magical Girl entertainment is catered to a female audience. Guys enjoy too, of course, but stuff like Sailor Moon was made by a woman with young girls in mind. It's great that everyone can enjoy it, but it's not surprising that it's a girl magnet. Their fanchants for Do the Dance are fun to listen to. Also the news that for the fan meet, they had to turn allow women into the men's room because there was so many of them and they had to use the bathroom. Lolita fashion is also catered towards women, specifically it was worn as a symbol of empowerment for Japanese women. Here is a study in it if you have time. It is an interesting read. This was confused with Lolita the book when ILLIT first debuted, but that's a very different thing with no connection other than sharing the same name. This left people to worry (fake concern from some) that ILLIT would be liked by mostly perverted men, but time has shown that's not the case. This isn't to say that ILLIT has no male fans, or that the existing ones are pervs. It's great that guys can enjoy too. It's just that ILLIT had that narrative going around, so it's nice to see it's not true. I remember when someone made an analysis of sales and it said a lot of middle aged men were buying ILLIT albums. Perhaps they bought for their daughters or their wives used their card/set up accounts in their name? (I posted this yesterday in another sub but apparently it's waiting for mod approval?? Anyways I wrote this really late at night so um sorry it's a MESS) Just finished watching the movie and I gotta yap about it so here we go - I'll do my best not to spoil. I'll also discuss both positives and negatives First of all, whoever directed/produced the music for this film is absolutely amazing. The songs (and vocals!) were amazingly good and something I will probably end up listening to on a regular basis and for karaoke. Are they my favourite songs ever? Probably not, but it's the perfect blend of a regular great song and what's needed for a movie for more storytelling and dramatics. I'm obsessed with all of the songs except Soda Pop (I was wide-eyed the whole time wondering if it was kid friendly 💀 I swear I'm not dirty minded but uh) but Golden, Takedown and Idol(?) were PEAK. Which brings me to my next point - with the recent releases from Disney that's disappointing a lot of people, this felt exactly like a modern take (with a modern setting) of the fantasy-like Disney movies that used to be released, almost the kind of effect Disney is trying to achieve. It's magical, embracing different cultures, promoting girlbossery and that you don't need a man to save you (it almost does go down that lane but at the end she still achieves things with her girls) WITHOUT trying too hard to send those messages, which is the complaint of many people (not trying to start a war over that tho). It's a musical with genuinely good music (as I've said lol) and the choreography??? Omg I was shooketh. Plot-wise, I absolutely adore the lore and backstories of both Rumi and eventually other characters. I wish we got to learn more about her parents, especially her father, but if we get a series - BTW QUICK SIDE NOTE, IT WOULD BE A MILLION TIMES BETTER AS A SERIES! THE MOVIE FELT A BIT RUSHED IN PARTS, BUT MY SISTER WAS SAYING THAT IF THERE'S A GOOD RECEPTION THERE COULD BE A SERIES SO I'M HOPING FOR THAT - we might then get to find out more about that. I love how thought out it is and the visual effects at the end for Rumi? It genuinely made her look terrifying but also still pretty lol. Both major backstories are scarily relatable despite being unrealistic in the literal sense, and I think that's beautiful. It's a movie I'd LOVE to analyse for English, is all I can say lol. The last song of praise I have is some parts of the Korean culture they integrated in. For some, the adding of occasional Korean words into the dialogue + songs can be cringy/off-putting, but I personally really liked it. It felt natural and was a reminder that they weren't just a girl group that happened to be Asian (as many people might've thought if not for the title and occasional mentions), they were a K-pop girl group. The movie in my opinion is great as a showcase for non-kpop fans to break stereotypes of always being too pink or gay or whatever and almost normalises the foreign concept to being similar, but different to what they are used to. And now we have the negatives. The negatives are not nearly enough to outweigh the positives for me but I do have to mention them. And you know what I'll start with? Glorifying the very aspects of idol life to be the exact opposite of what would happen in real life just gave me the ick. Mainly, the gorging on food (especially carbohydrates as they mention) and getting all close to idols of the opposite gender. I'll start with the food one, first. It's a kids movie - of course I'm not expecting them to show how they go on intense diets and possibly starve. I don't have an issue with that part being unrealistic slightly. But why the director chose to highlight the girls snacking on food - and when I mean food, I mean a mountain of chips and fifteen cups of noodles saying they were doing it FOR THE FANS - when it's the complete opposite in real life is something I can't understand. Like why would you make that such a focus?? And then there's the 'interacting with the opposite gender' thing. Again, it's a kids movie - of course it's going to be a little unrealistic. But also, why 😭 Minor spoilers but wdym the Saja Boys showed up at the girls' fansign, and while they sat together, RUMI SPENT THE WHOLE TIME TALKING TO JINU AND KEPT TAPPING HER FOOT AGAINST HIS AND THE FANS (which btw, to be clear, were Knetz who are not known to be the most supportive shippers) JUST OBSESSED OVER HOW CUTE THEY WERE?? Like she genuinely was not paying attention to her fans who actually paid to be there and to all the fans' knowledge, just flirting with him... It gave me war flashbacks to Sullyoon talking to a guy for a few seconds and fans hating on her for not giving them attention. They didn't have to completely cut it or anything but trying to keep it secret that they were acquainted would've made way more sense and probably could've enriched the plot a little more to make it exciting. There was also another minor thing of glorifying overworking... It wasn't highlighted much so I'll give it grace because of movie logic but omg, Rumi releasing a single and moving up promotions the NIGHT THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO BE ON VACATION WITHOUT DISCUSSING WITH THE OTHER MEMBERS was not it at all, I almost decided to hate her for that. Like wdym you ruined your friends' vacation on a whim like that? I also wasn't a fan of the emphasis on how much the idols love their fans and was willing to do everything for them, not needing rest because the fans were enough - it feeds so hard into the parasocialism and is exactly the way too many parasocial fans think their idols feel like, which isn't the case 90% of the time. Again, the movie isn't supposed to be realistic but man, did they really have to glorify the toxic parts of the industry for it? The first third of the movie was really cringy tbh, like it was funny and I enjoyed it but also I wanted to die. It really does get better though. And one final thought... >! Mira and Zoey really pissed me off. Mainly Mira cuz Zoey is sweet but when both of them TOOK OUT THEIR SWORDS WHEN RUMI REVEALED HERSELF TO THEM??? LIKE YK WHAT I CAN SEE WHY SHE DIDN'T TELL YOU OMG. And at the end when they're crying about how they're so happy Rumy didn't die but like - they almost killed her?? I'd get it if she was being aggressive in that moment or turned into a big scary monster with a spooky voice, but it was literally just her asking for help so they could save the world and fix her. Also, Celine(?) really pissed me off too. It's giving racist. But also she wasn't seen as a good person in the end and she was acknowledged to be a bit rubbish so it's not a negative of the movie, I just didn't like her. !< Thank you for reading my words of thoughtfulness (I wouldn't be surprised if 90% people just skipped over half my yap, that's fine lol. Would love to hear your thoughts tho). I definitely recommend it to anyone who's considering it! Just remember it's a cartoon kids movie lol, no matter how much I hype it up. An older bit of news that I feel might have went over people’s heads. Recently regained my love for Block B (I bought copies of Blockbuster and Re:Montage way back in the day) Was watching their recent appearance on The Seasons live where Zico was a host and PO literally blurts out that they are planning a comeback next year (video was from 2024).
