33. Girl groups need more clothing.

  • 6 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Call me old-fashioned, but why are all of the girl groups always missing clothes? I truly believe that there is empowerment in dressing in a "sexy" manner, but at some point, isn't there also empowerment in looking "sexy" without being half-naked? For example, I feel like every time I see Katseye, a newer group with some relatively young members, they are always dressed in very revealing clothing, regardless of the environment. I'm not trying to blame them for the way they dress, but I also don't want to see teenagers in their bras in a GAP ad, and I don't think it adds any value to the advertisement or their brand. Maybe their revealing outfits are a part of their stage concept, but how much does it actually add to the value of their performance or fashion in a way it can't be otherwise? Another example is Blackpink. As one of the most recognized Kpop groups of all time, they not only have the fan base, but the pure selling power from their brand alone. I don't see why they need to be in their bras, or shorts that ride up their asses EVERY single performance. As a heterosexual man, I appreciate a beautiful woman in her physical peak, but the way these girl groups are marketing themselves these days, is just not it. Idk, maybe I'm getting too old for this shit. I would love to hear what other people think. submitted by /u/LooTeRgetLooTeD [link] [comments]

35. Criticizing a company≠resentment for their groups

  • 6 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Ever since #that scandal broke out the general sentiment on reddit is that hybe=good,sm=bad and if you dare criticize one of hybe's decisions or practises they take it as hate towards their groups. The thing is that kpop companies and their idols aren't the same entity and all kpop companies aren't afraid to follow harmful practices if it means maximizing their profit. I can't believe I have to say it but as fans and consumers we have the right to call out company actions we don't agree with without it being taken as resentment towards their artists. The same goes for hybe So in short hybe≠hybe groups. Calling out the company doesn't mean hate for the idols as it isn't the idols running it or making the big decisions submitted by /u/Alive-Pitch-9180 [link] [comments]

38. Lay Zhang (Zhang Yixing)'s GRANDLINE 5 Monkey King Rocking the Heavenly Palace in Beijing Bird's Nest was something else !

Probably ONE of the most creative concerts ever?! It's just my opinion so if you think I am wrong then please do coz I can't stop you from thinking that. And if you want you can provide info to deny, thanks. From October 6 to 7, Lay held his GRANDLINE 5: The Monkey King Rocking the Heavenly Palace concert at Beijing National Stadium, also known as the Bird's Nest Stadium. The event was presented in collaboration with acclaimed Chinese filmmaker Zhang Yimou's team. Themed on the 16th-Century Chinese Novel "The Monkey King Makes Trouble in Heaven, it incorporated chinese ethnic culture and history mixed with Lay's musical creativity. Whoever got to attend this once in a lifetime concert, you are a blessed person I can tell you that. The Most Magestic Concert I have ever witnessed, through the internet of course. submitted by /u/Daddy1007a [link] [comments]

44. What do yall think about this? The big 3 of 3rd generation

  • 8 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Ok. so i thought it's better not to talk about this but i really wanna know yall's opinion regarding this topic. there's a discourse going on tiktok. People are arguing who is the big 3 of 3rd gen. People are literally arguing why they think x y z group should be in the big 3. Few types of people are there- Those who agreed that bts-exo-got7 are the big 3. i am also one of them as a kpop fan for more than 10 years, i think this is the correct one in my opinion Those who think that bts-exo-seventeen are the big 3. i don't really agree with this. Svt really got popular after the pandemic. it's not like they were not popular before. but they mainly started to shine internationally at the start of 4th gen. Those who think that monstaX or wannaone etc group were part of big 3 instead of got7. few people are in this category. they are being totally biased towards one group and saying x y z grp should be in big 3. Now my question to yall. what do you think about this? Also no hate to any group. i personally listen to any group possible if i like their song. so it's not a biased post. submitted by /u/xenonvix [link] [comments]

45. Global Girl groups trained under kpop methodology

  • 8 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Before you come to me just to clarify I am writting about them here in this sub bcoz. I will only get a few reply if I write this in any pop sub. Girlset (Vcha) - I don't understand why JYP rebranded Vcha. I mean Vcha was not even that popular in the initial stage of their carrier.Neither they had a strong sonic or visual identity nor they had any stand out member.Nor they had any strong fanbase to lean on. Moreover they did not have any viral moment to bank on. Like Attrakt had with Cupid and og 5050 so even when the original members left, they debuted new girls under the same name to atleast get some momentum rather than starting afresh. All of these could have been ignored had they provided Girlset with proper resources and money. But from their recent cb commas and the way they are marketed its clear that JYP does not have and future plan for Girlset. Katseye - Katseye was doing fine.Their Gap ad was parised by all and even made them viral. They gained a lot of positive reaction because of their brand alignment until this this shit, where they had kiss marks and their breathe or whatever. Now people are making fun of the exact same thing they were being praised for.( ifykyk). If Hybe × Geffen wants Katseye to be seen as a serious brand they will have to drop this type of gimmicky brand alignment. Prelude the final piece (upcoming gg) - I think it was a smart decision by Hybe × Geffen to form a new global girl group, who did not make into Katseye, because these girls are immensely talented and fact that they are getting a second chance to showcase their talent is really amazing. But I think they should address Samara's controvery instead of trying to put it under the rug. Also, it would be great if they added Ezrela and Marquise into the line up. submitted by /u/Due_Collection_3363 [link] [comments]

46. The Main Vocalists Are Rarely Popular in K-Pop Groups

  • 8 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

While looking through my favorite bb group rosters, you know how at the end of those they have a poll for 'favorite member'? I noticed something kinda crazy. The LEAST popular members of each group is often the main vocalist(s), i.e. the heavy-lifters of the group when it comes to actual music-making. So for EXO (excepting all the Chinese members who are either on hiatus or out) - Chen. NCT 127 - it was Taeil and it was always Taeil, pre and post conviction. NCT Dream - it's the three vocalists - Haechan, Renjun and Chenle. RIIZE - Sohee is second-to-last NCT Wish - Jaehee and Ryo Obviously this is a short list of SM bbs but now do your groups - do you find the same results? Just curious. This started after I watched the NCT Dream Killing Voice where I realized just how much work the main vocalists (Haechan, Renjun, and, particuarly, Chenle), do. I was curious where they ranked popularity-wise and found them all at the bottom, which sent me on this quest. Anyway, I'm sure it's not ALWAYS the case, but it's disproportionate. I'm a singer, that's why I'm into Kpop, for the vocals. But I think I may be in a minority? submitted by /u/GreenLynx1111 [link] [comments]

47. K-pop and the ’star quality’ cope zzzzzz

  • 8 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Talent is way harder to teach than ’star quality’. The fact that kpop stans genuenlly believe that you can’t teach star quality is mind boggling to me. Star quality just means visuals. That’s it. When companies talk about star quality they just mean that the idol is good looking. It’s way easier to teach someone to be present on stage than it is to teach them to dance and sing. Now I’m not one of the people that belieev that it’s impossible to teach someone to sing and dance. Of course some things are easier for some more than others but it’s still possible. That being said these idols train for hours and they still don’t sing and dance well. Don’t give me the ”some things can’t be taught” BC then it’s just like… which one is it? Sure dancing can take years and they usually debut before they have a chance to practice more but after debut they don’t seem to train at all. And so many idols have terrible technique. Inate vocal skills or vocal tone is one thing….. but the heavy breathing and lack of support is another. Compannies dgaf about star quality or talent. They train kids to be idols instead of artists. #imoverit submitted by /u/LowPaleontologist951 [link] [comments]
