https://youtu.be/eU8w4KxoyRk?si=8I4ZncPYc7N9uss4 I just came across this YouTube video about the simarities between sports and pop culture fandoms and religion. As a religious person who's been off and on with how serious I'm taking my religion, I can really relate to the video and can make direct comparisons between what I do in my religion and what I do while stanning TWICE (my ults), like buying merch, going to concerts, and meeting other ONCEs for a sense of community. I really relate with the point in the video where the creator said during concerts or sports matches, the individual boundaries of the fans blur and they feel united in something greater than themselves. TWICE is very mainstream in Japan so I can see all sorts of people when I go to their concerts here. From kids to old people, high schoolers to parents, men, women, office workers, to celebrities and other idols. They wear merch or try to replicate a costume from MVs or music show promos. Everyone sheds their individual identity and transforms into their ONCE "persona" for a few hours. I'm curious if anyone else, religious or not, have similar experiences with their ults, or maybe if anyone have interesting personal anecdotes to share about how stanning a group feels like a religious activities. submitted by /u/GaurdsGuards [link] [comments]

Hey y’all, I’ve been looking to get into some new girl groups and I thought this sub would be the perfect place to ask. Can you recommend me some of your favorite girl groups (especially newer ones)? I’d love if you could also tell me a bit about them — like their concept, how many members they have, and maybe which member(s) you personally like the most or think stand out. submitted by /u/Important-Sea7093 [link] [comments]
