hi, this seems to be the best subreddit to share a spotify playlist i made recently. or rather, it started as 1 playlist but it was getting really long and i wanted to be able to edit it more easily so i split it up into 3 haha. i started listening to more 1st gen kpop a little while ago and wondered if there was already a playlist with every debut in it to help me find more artists, but there wasn't so i decided to make it myself lol. also a few years ago i resolved to stop listening to artists that are still minors considering the amount of psychological damage debuting at such young ages can cause. i don't want to contribute to the industry thinking it's okay to overwork high schoolers but keeping up with kpop while trying to avoid that has been tricky so i've gotten totally out of the loop. i wanted to exclude anyone under 19 from this playlist both to not give them streams and as a way for me to keep track of which artists i do want to check out. anyway i'm open to criticism over who i did/didn't include (i'm white so definitely not the person to define what is and isn't kpop) but also it's taken me like 5 months to get caught up so please be gentle 🤧 the playlists are in order of when the debut song was released, not necessarily the artist's official debut date. i have a google sheet with everything on it including a separate list of what's missing on spotify (or what should be replaced if i could only find re-releases or, like, karaoke versions lol) which i will gladly share if anyone's interested. i mostly used Wikipedia and kpop.fandom.com as references so if anyone knows of more obscure kpop groups/soloists that i missed let me know!! i noticed a few soloists whose profiles say they were in a group that didn't have it's own page so i had to find their info elsewhere haha debuts through 2009: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7v9JupRVhogdX80YcYSfko?si=603cb49f4ed341f8 2010-2019: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7HhWNNWg9wklUxaF01Xuca?si=4c3cf2203083417a 2020-present: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7Dklbti50QLdpNvP0Z4EfF?si=ad350f22eab44328 submitted by /u/17smother [link] [comments]
I just watched Somi’s new MV, and it’s pretty clear they sampled Sean Kingston’s Beautiful Girls. Personally, I didn’t think the song was very good, and it definitely won’t be going into my playlist. Considering how sporadically Somi releases music, I feel like there was plenty of time to really dig deep and create a unique sound for listeners. I found it underwhelming that the majority of the title track ended up being a heavily autotuned version of the 2007 hit. submitted by /u/Acrobatic_Prize_7749 [link] [comments]

Before this year ends, I will do one for this year as well. But since we are midway through of this year, can we talk about the last year boy group movements? Coz Girl Groups are always the talk of the town in the subreddit and outside as well. Boygroups need that love too lol (jk) 🤪 So here are my favourite albums by Boy Groups in 2024. And you can already guess with how my playlist s looks like lol. Do share yours as well. submitted by /u/Daddy1007a [link] [comments]

Kibum, you crazy son of a bitch, you did it again! 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Never expected anything would top Gasoline for me in his discography, but Hunter is getting there with every listen. The title track is catchy as hell, the MV is amazingly directed, and I love that weird ass choreography. It just somehow works magnificently when it's Key doing creepy, ghoulish steps on vogue beats LOL. The production on the B-sides is so damn good (Trap and Perfect Error are my favorite), and I totally lost my shit when I heard Taemin's Guess Who's beat on GLAM 😭. I don't even care if it's the same beat or one that sounds exactly like Guess Who, I just love it and my headcanon calls it an official sample xD So obsessed with this overall a perfect comeback 💯 submitted by /u/beelzebub2099 [link] [comments]
Choose only ONE not one of each group and give your reason (if you want to) Personally it's Selfish walts from ateez, fire song I listen to it on repeat anyways submitted by /u/hearts4him_ [link] [comments]
I’m a huge fan of Somi’s solo work over the years. She’s really tapped into her own style once she made her move from jyp to tbl and I think she is able to truly create great music that resonates with herself and her fans greatly. I was just curious about this for some time because Somi does have large periods of inactivity. As we know artists don’t make much from streaming, so while she does have millions of monthly listeners on Spotify I don’t know if that’s bringing in a lot of money. And then Somi’s album sales are quite low for how long she’s been active being around 125k units but maybe for a solo act that’s decent? I’m just curious, does she do any other jobs like modeling, acting, live shows etc. to compensate for lower sales and a lack of frequent promotions? submitted by /u/Prize-Square9817 [link] [comments]

I don't get why kpop stans are hating already. Well, I think they're really talented and they have this cool presence when performing. I'm excited for their debut on Aug 18. submitted by /u/Foodscientist0912 [link] [comments]
Their predebut song Go! Is a rip off Travis Scott or plaiboy carti and both of those artists have majority male fans and audiences so I think that's why bighit went with this type of sound for cortis to attract more male Listeners and audiences instead just a bunch of fangirls like other boygroups. This is just what i think submitted by /u/Party-Confection417 [link] [comments]
I will always find it funny how Twice was the JYPE group to blow up in America lmao (with SKZ following after). Literally almost every other group in the label before and after them has a fluent English speaker. 2PM had Taecyeon and Nichkhun. Several of the Wondergirls are fluent. Itzy has Lia. Nmixx has Lily. Day6 has YoungK and formerly Jae. The ones who weren't fluent got lessons pretty early too. And yet for all that effort it is Twice - with zero English speakers - who became JYPE's flagship group in America anyways. The irony and miracle of it kills me every time. submitted by /u/BlueThePineapple [link] [comments]
