They’ll almost certainly be dungeoned until 2029 when their contract releases them, or pay several hundreds of millions of dollars to escape it. Then, they better really pray Min Heejin will accept them into her new company so they can repay that money overall several years. I think other companies would be hesitant to work with them understandably enough. Maybe they’ll release new music or do other promotions, but I see that rather unlikely as they have been quite adamant on not working under HYBE. I'm aware nobody cares about my opinion, but I'm gonna write down just some thoughts that popped into my noodles (pun intended), if you care to read until the end. Feel free to disregard or disagree in the comments. I'm not a Fearnot, but I was never a hater of Lesserafim music either. I was a big fan of their debut, but with Garam departure, I started to be concerned about the lack of vocalist in the group. Sakura's comments about her insecurity and wanting less lines, Kazuha short training period, Eunchae being visibly uncomfortable when she had to do a solo encore of "Easy", the directors intention on keep pushing super intense choreography with songs that are challenging for their vocal range, was a ticking time bomb that went off at Coachella when the sound tech failed and the girls were left to fend off for themselves on their biggest stage. I did not support the hate train that came off of it, but in all honesty, it was bad, and it was inevitably bad. I said it many times before and I'll say it again, you can't have those intense choreographies AND have 3/5 non-vocalist SING out of range with good raw vocals. You can't have both on a LIVE stage. That's why I appreciated a lot their team listening to the VALID criticism and incorporating this in their following comebacks. Hot and Come Over choreographies weren't as hard, while Crazy kept their signature high level choreography but paired it with a song easier to sing. Chef kiss. Another thing that rubbed me the wrong way was the accent in Smart and the heavy borrowing of ball room culture in Crazy. It's not for me to call it cultural appropriation, but it did rub me the wrong way. NOW, when Spaghetti came out, it just ticked all the boxes for me: Opening shot of the MV, and we have drag queen representation? YES PLEASE The choreography was so detailed and showing what the girls are capable off. And the creativity? The floor work? The hand details? That gagging part? Iconic, 10/10. The song is an absolute banger, with the chorus being a total ear worm. Can we talk about the part distribution? Such a smart idea to give the more melodic parts to Chaewon and Yunjin and still leaving room for the others to have iconic lines. A title track that doesn't take itself too seriously, a B-side that directly references the massive hate campaign they went through in April of 2024. That's truly Antifragile and Fearless. J-Hope verse is just the cherry on top. Big big big respect for the way the came back stronger after that nightmare of a fall. i wasn't interested in CYE at aLL bc all their music so far was very much the sound that i personally feel is oversaturated in 5th gen bgs and just doesnt do it for me personally/subjectively haha then i saw what talented dancers they are when they did that collab stage with ahof (love that group) but i still wasn't inclined to check them out. then youtube recommended the SOB teaser and i was EXTREMELY pleasantly surprised!! i just knEw this song was going to be my taste and now that the mv is out, i can confirm i LOVE this song sm💀 it's giving slay club beat and reminds me of thunder by seventeen (huge compliment bc im obsessed w that song lol) and, during these times where some groups are nervous ab changing up their sound, i really just want to emphasize that a risk like that can often pay off. bc i probably would've never engaged with another piece of CYE media if it wasn't for this switch up - which also allows their talent to shine bc they can slay more than one sound/vibe now im already compiling a playlist of their youtube content and saving pins of them on pinterest so i can get stuck into the group lol. and thats regardless of what their future music will sound like, bc this one single song has hooked me enough to want to "get to know" the group as ppl. to summarize: branching out and trying new vibes and sounds is often a good way to get new fans that would typically have no interest. and for all the existing fans who don't like the switch up, aLL of their previous music is still available for you to listen to lol submitted by /u/Important-Zombie9331 [link] [comments]
