Right now I was on Instagram seen jisoo's stories and I discovered that jump is going to release 07.11 and okay... I'm excited about it but twice is talking about their 4th full album coming in that exact day in more than a month... the problem is that this sh looks like BP is boycotting twice or something and that just make the Fandom fight more... nobody wins with that.. and is not just them... that happens a lot and i know isn't their fault or something... submitted by /u/Frog__120622 [link] [comments]

Katseye is great and I don’t have a bias but the more I learn about Megan the more I feel like she is what would’ve been of me in an alternate dimension where i pursed art over science. Hear me out. We’re both: - Wasian/american (specially mixed with chinese) - Speak decent but kinda mediocre cantonese - The palest in our friend group - a little cringe? as in with sense of humor (i.e. borderline theater/band/anime kid type jokes every once in a while) - have a fixation on Phineas and Ferb - bisexual - started dancing as a toddler and to add on: she has psoriasis, i have eczema. basically the same condition in a different font. Anyways Megan’s great. Go Katseye. Go Eyekons. Love their new album and wish them all the success in taking over the global market. submitted by /u/carrotttomato [link] [comments]

I cant believe some kpop stans are already alleging that not only did HYBE "buy" the Grammy membership/voting rights for their idols, they apparently also bought it just so BTS can win a Grammy lol I genuinely don't get what yall want from these groups. Would yall rather HYBE not further strengthen its artists credentials? I don't understand, it's not like they only did it for one group o, they chose members of different groups that actually have creative contributions to their group music. IYO is Zico or Woozi not deserving of the membership? It's almost like you lot want the status quo to remain the same. If your faves aren't making these moves, then others shouldn't, and especially not HYBE groups. Why must HYBE pay for the incompetence of other labels? Is anyone stopping them from applying? I just don't get where this bitterness stems from. And to the point that they are doing it so BTS can win a Grammy, the odds are very obviously not in their favor numbers wise. AND BTS deserved a Grammy yearssss ago. When they do win it'll be because they earned it and YOU ALL know it. Yall irrationality when it comes to this label's groups is befuddling. Yall would rather shout fraud before using some of the brain cells God gave you. submitted by /u/Mobile-Structure5702 [link] [comments]
Please let me know if I should direct my question to a different sub, I didn't quite know where to go for this question. I'm going to Jin's solo concert and I'm wondering if it's okay for me to bring my neobong. I've brought mine to every concert and seen others bring neobongs and other lightsticks to the Wonho solo concert so I wondered what the etiquette is for solo concerts. When I fantisize about someday going to a BTS concert, I hesitate to bring my neobong with me there too just because I'm shy of army's opinion if I brought it haha, it's the only lightstick I have and I don't have an interest in other lightsticks because of their prices (my neobong was a gift). I really enjoy having a lightstick since I'm a person who doesn't know what to do with their hands, but I want to be respectful too -- and I'm also curious to know if there is a rule when it comes to solo concert etiquette, so please let me know! submitted by /u/babybii [link] [comments]
I have a full write-up regarding generational trauma and how it relates to the movie. Thanks for reading! Here are two details I mention in it in the pics! The Trauma of K-Pop Demon Hunters (spoilers) submitted by /u/tamarche [link] [comments]
I am new k-pop fan and I have noticed many girl groups I listen to put out mini albums or EPs instead of full albums. Is this common in the k-pop scene or just with girl groups? submitted by /u/A_payne2211 [link] [comments]
The dedication and obsession kpop stans have for Hybe groups is insane. submitted by /u/Plastic-Bag-2517 [link] [comments]
If you’ve been paying attention to the recent news from the Recording Academy (responsible for voting in the grammys), you can probably see where this is headed. Multiple Kpop idols have just been invited to join, including Yeonjun (TXT), Jungwon (Enhypen), Vernon and Woozi (Seventeen), Yunjin (Le Sserafim), Zico, and even Katseye. This isn’t just a coincidence. It feels like all the pieces are being set in place. HYBE is clearly gearing up for something massive with BTS's comeback, and honestly, a Grammy win is starting to look less like a dream and more like an inevitability. submitted by /u/Diligent_Thought_165 [link] [comments]
I've been a k-pop fan for close to 9 years, and this has been on my mind for a while now. This isn't meant to upset anybody, I just want to add my two cents (that nobody asked for, I know) about how I've grown to look at k-pop over these 9 years. (Trigger warning, kinda, this is super freaking long, lol.) Something I've noticed is how often k-pop fans act like they're somehow outside or above the system they're deeply invested in. K-pop is one of the most powerful engines of capitalism in the world. By participating in it, especially willingly (meaning, with your money), you're not challenging the system, you're reinforcing it. You're not protecting your favorite idols. You're fueling the very machine that exploits them. I will put that aside for now, and revisit later. To start, they're called idols for a reason. They're figures to admire, follow, and literally idealize. That title has never been accidental, and it's baked into the marketing. So when people say idols don't owe fans anything, it rings hollow. That relationship isn't one-sided. Fans put in time, money, and emotional energy. We help pay their bills, and that shouldn't be dismissed just because it's uncomfortable to acknowledge. No, idols don't owe us access to their personal lives, but the industry has monetized the illusion that they do. And that's where it gets messy. Fans are asked to care deeply, invest emotionally and financially, and then told to expect nothing in return. What bothers me in this, is that these kinds of conversations almost never happen in k-pop spaces (at least those I've been a part of). I get it, k-pop is fun, and for a lot of people (especially teens and tweens), it's an escape. Even if younger fans understand how the system works, they may not have the experience or maturity to fully unpack it. And that's okay. But that doesn't mean the rest of us shouldn't be having these discussions. These industries thrive on silence, emotional overinvestment, and an unwillingness to question what's really going on. Just because something is enjoyable doesn't mean it's above criticism. If anything, we owe it to both ourselves, the fans, and the idols to look at the bigger picture, and not just consume mindlessly. Yeah, I know this isn't just a k-pop thing. Celebrity culture in general works the same way. But k-pop takes it way further. It industrializes it. It packages and sells relationships more aggressively and systematically than almost any other entertainment industry. At this point, it's not just about being a fan, but instead it's about doing unpaid work to keep the machine running. Think about how fans bulk-buy albums just to boost sales, or organize streaming parties like it's a job. Or how idols are expected to stay perfect while being completely overworked, and fans still defend the companies behind it all. Whether it's buying more albums or paying for concert tickets, we're still supporting the same system, even though we've known for years about the "slave contracts" idols are often stuck in. And it even extends to how idols are pushed to maintain this image of being flawless outside their music. Think about when an idol gets called out for something serious, and fans rush to defend them before the facts are even clear. That's not about truth. It's about emotional loyalty. That's the level of attachment we're dealing with. And this is where the superiority games come in. That whole vibe of "I'm not parasocial, you are," or "I just like the music, I don't care about the idols personally" isn't helping anyone. If you're bulk-buying albums, joining fan calls, or defending idols online like it's your full-time job, you're in a parasocial relationship. And honestly, that's not some personal flaw, it's exactly how the system was built. The industry wants you to feel close to them. That illusion of intimacy is the product. As I mentioned above, a lot of people say "idols don't owe us anything" while defending them like family. Of course they don't owe us perfection or emotional labor. But this isn't a one-way street. Fans are the financial backbone of the whole thing. The connection might be curated, even artificial, but the money and energy we pour into it is very real. Telling people they're not entitled to anything just shuts down valid criticism. This system depends on both sides, but only one gets to pretend it doesn't. Or really, we only offer that one-sided illusion to make ourselves feel better about it. If there's one thing I really want people to take away from all this, it's this: everything I've talked about (the pressure to spend, defend, stay loyal), it's not even driven by companies anymore. It's fans doing it to each other. That means the system has already won. It's trained us to gatekeep, to shame, to turn on anyone who questions it, all so the cycle keeps going without ever needing to be challenged. And honestly, you could ask why have these conversations at all? I'll say, that I don't think any major issue in k-pop will ever really be solved if fans don't first recognize the machine they're actively supporting. This is k-pop. Idols touring nonstop, juggling multiple comebacks and promotions, with barely any time to rest. Trainees giving up their entire childhood just for the chance to debut, only to end up in debt to their companies, sometimes for years, never getting paid. Idols sitting through fan calls that blur personal and professional lines, being expected to tolerate behavior that crosses boundaries, just because someone paid for a few seconds of their time. If we can't name the system for what it is, we can't fix any part of it. Don't cry wolf when you were the first one to call the shepherd a liar. You can't play the victim in a system you helped keep alive. submitted by /u/blueeyebroom [link] [comments]
I'm not a big fan of ships between members, but it's inevitable that they arise. And we already know which are some of the most famous in each group, but are there any famous ones made up of people from different groups? submitted by /u/Someonehihi [link] [comments]

In all of the talk about the Billboard chart achievements of the Kpop Demon Hunters soundtrack, I haven't seen anyone mention the songwriter /producer who also sings Rumi's voice. she's killing it as a vocalist in Golden and I had never heard her name before. EJAE is her stage name, Kim Eun-jae her name IRL, and a quick research shows she was a trainee at SM before getting into songwriting. https://www.koreaboo.com/stories/former-sm-trainee-becoming-one-kpop-loved-songwriters/ I'm sure we'll hear more of her in the future. submitted by /u/Ploumplume [link] [comments]
