I used to love TWICE’s discography — they had a clear sound, catchy hooks, and a fun image that felt unique. But lately, their music feels like it’s chasing trends instead of setting them. They’ve done retro, western-pop sounding tracks... but none of it really sticks. It’s like they’re trying to grow with their audience but lost the core of what made them stand out. Not saying they should stay cutesy forever, but why does it feel like TWICE’s direction is all over the place now? Do you think it’s JYP’s fault or is the group just out of steam musically? Tbh I think Twice might be under pressure or they probably feel that they should try hard to appeal to a wider audience because of their peers like BTS and Blackpink? submitted by /u/Swimming_Strength727 [link] [comments]
I always see people saying 2nd or early 3rd gen idols “worked harder” and had less opportunity bor had it worse, but isn't the pressure today way more intense with everything being online? New gen idols get dragged for the smallest things, fanbases are ruthless, and everything is instantly global. Older idols didn’t have to deal with TikTok virality, sasaengs hacking phones, or global stans nitpicking every move. Not saying one gen is better, but can we stop pretending newer idols have it easy just because K-pop is more mainstream now or atleast known in a global scale now? Curious what y’all think. Has the pressure really gotten worse or are we overestimating the digital age? submitted by /u/Swimming_Strength727 [link] [comments]

Make a Kpop group consisting members of Non-Asian singers or dancers You can pick any Non-Asian singer or dancer. Can be either a boy band or girl group. What roles would they have? submitted by /u/Jezzaq94 [link] [comments]

im saying this as a 16 y/o (fan of "jyps boy group", in my fandom its not as parasocial compared to e.g bts/i accept the 2 jys boy group members wont fly back to australia js to marry me)/ex army, but most comments abt bts on yt i find are all js comments like "omg v be my husband" "bts are our bfs" and even jungkook iirc said smthn like "i dont have a gf bc its army" and even i think to myself, if bts werent as parasocial as they are now, how much fans would they have/fans that dont worship them like deities? less i would suppose, but its an interesting thought its one thing to js generally like them (which i got nothing against as long as u acknowledge theyve been/are problematic/dont try to erase their problematic past), but its another delusion to start thinking that theyre gonna marry u one day (ive come to terms with that) submitted by /u/Minute_Ice_7434 [link] [comments]

26 days ago exactly, very few people knew who EJAE was. I, like many, listeners heard Golden and immediately wondered « Who IS this? ». There was just one article on line from Koreaboo which did provide a bit of background, but then a well informed Redditor u/EdenKruAllTheWay had obviously followed her career very closely: https://www.reddit.com/r/kpopthoughts/comments/1lvyteu/comment/n3fmk76/ Back then she had about 50 thousand followers on Instagram, she now has 110k. Her name has since been cited in Forbes and other big media, but this now takes the cake: Rolling Stone, first page, UP, UP, UP HOW TWO SONGWRITERS FROM K-POP AND MUSICAL THEATER BUILT THIS SUMMER’S SURPRISE CHART SMASH KPop Demon Hunters songwriters EJAE and Mark Sonnenblick talk to Rolling Stone about the collaboration that birthed their hit single "Golden" by CT JONES -AUGUST 4, 2025 https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/kpop-demon-hunters-golden-songwriters-streaming-soundtrack-1235397861/ Really wish I had a subscription to access it, but at least the link is here for those who can. submitted by /u/Ploumplume [link] [comments]
