14.520. The "Early Gen 3 Girl Groups" Rate!

  • 5 months ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Hello everyone! We are excited to take a trip back in time to revisit some K-Pop classics once again, continuing with this rate, the "Early Gen 3" Girl Groups Rate! (If you haven't already, make sure to join r/kpoprates to ensure that you stay updated on future rate-related posts!) Quick Links: Ballot submission: Link to Reddit Chat to message a ballot // Ballot template (Google Docs ver.) // Ballot template (Pastebin) Playlists: Spotify // Youtube (Audio ver.) // Youtube (Lyrics ver.) // Youtube (MV ver.) Deadline: July 7th (Monday), 11:59 Pacific (Link to a timezone converter) How the songs were selected: We used the /r/kpop Top Ten Tuesdays results to grab the most adored songs from each of the artists on Reddit, and we also had a songlist feedback survey on /r/kpoprates to help decide the songlist! Now, without further ado, let's introduce the 55 songs (& 7 bonus songs) that were selected for this rate, ordered chronologically for each artist (artists were also ordered by debut date): . Spica: Russian Roulette You Don’t Love Me EXID: Every Night Up & Down Ah Yeah Hot Pink Night Rather Than Day DDD I Love You HelloVenus: Wiggle Wiggle I’m ill Mysterious Crayon Pop: Bar Bar Bar AOA: Miniskirt Short Hair Like a Cat Heart Attack Good Luck 10 Seconds Excuse Me FIESTAR: One More You’re Pitiful Ladies’ Code: Pretty Pretty Galaxy The Rain BESTie: Love Options Excuse me Mamamoo: Piano Man You’re the Best Décalcomanie Starry Night Egotistic Wind Flower Gogobebe HIP Laboum: Journey to Atlantis Hwi Hwi Lovelyz: Ah-Choo Destiny WoW! Now, We That Day Sonamoo: Friday Night GFriend: Me Gustas Tu Rough Navillera Fingertip Time For The Moon Night Apple Mago Brave Girls: Deepened Rollin’ We Ride Chi Mat Ba Ram After We Ride . Bonus Rate: The bonus rate is basically an extension of the main rate! There were several songs that received high praise during the songlist feedback survey that still were barely not able to make the main rate, so we have put them into the bonus rate here to give them a chance to be rated. . EXID - Lady HelloVenus - Venus Crayon Pop - FM Fiestar - Mirror Ladies’ Code - Bad Girl Laboum - Between Us GFriend - Labyrinth . The Bonus Rate is optional and you do not have to submit a score for every song in the bonus list if you do it: you can score none of them, all of them, or any number in between. You cannot give a 0 or 11 to any song in the bonus, as they are not part of the main rate. While it is optional, we hope you consider participating. Spotify playlist YouTube playlist (MV version) YouTube playlist (Audio version) YouTube playlist (Lyrics version) Rules: You must listen to and assign a score to EVERY song listed. If your ballot is missing any scores it will not be eligible and you'll be sent a message asking you to fill in the missing scores. Each song should be assigned a score between 1 to 10. Decimals up to one point are allowed but any further is a no-no – 6.9 is fine, but 6.99 is not. You can use ONE 0 and ONE 11 for the entirety of the rate, for your least favorite and most favorite song respectively - they are optional but HIGHLY encouraged if you feel some type of way about any given song! Comments are also encouraged but not required for such scores (except if you give a song a 0). Comments are encouraged and much appreciated (but not required, except for if you give a 0) and can be added to any song by simply typing after the numerical score, like so: Hip: 2.4 Ofc the title track that utilizes Mamamoo's vocal power the least ends up becoming the most popular (yells angrily at cloud) This is the ONLY correct way to format a comment. Please do not include colons (ex. 9: I stan!), dashes (ex. 3.3 - This song sucks), or any other symbol after your score/before your comment as it breaks the program. You can also give comments for individual artists! Just write your comment after the :, such as the following: EXID: Are they pronounced like "exit" or are you supposed to say every letter separately? I'll never know For this rate and most future rates, we have a ballot average minimum of 4.00. In addition, if your ballot average is between 4.00-5.50, you must leave comments on your lower scores (which we define as any score that's a 3 or lower). {Do not worry about having to calculate your ballot average, once you submit your ballot, we will tell you if you need to make changes to your ballot for it to be accepted.} SUBMITTING A BALLOT: * Link to Reddit Chat to message a ballot As Reddit is (unfortunately) moving away from the private messaging system in favor of utilizing the Reddit chat system, we are forced to also adopt the Reddit chat system for messaging. You can make a copy of either the Google Docs or Pastebin ballot templates below, add your scores on your local copy/file, and send the link to your local copy/file in your Reddit Chat message to u/KpopRates_Ghost. * Google Docs ballot template * Pastebin ballot template Google spreadsheet template that you can use to calculate averages, record scores, and make predictions Alternatively, if you have Discord, you can message the link to your ballot to both the rate hosts, @Zypker124 and @aidshha. Articles / Timeline 250422 This day marks one year since HYBE launched their audit of Min Hee Jin and ADOR's management. Happy(?) 1st anniversary of the Megathreads! 250502 The 3rd hearing for Min Hee Jin vs. Belift Lab was set to take place but postponed to July 18th at Belift Lab's request. Each side is due to present their arguments/documents regarding plagiarism issues at the next meeting. (Source: Maeil Kyungjae) 250530 We learned that ADOR had filed for 'indirect enforcement' after their injunction was granted and NewJeans performed at ComplexCon back in March (Filed on April 4th according to the statement from NewJeans' representatives linked below). On the 30th, the 52nd Division of the Seoul Central District court further granted this request. The 'indirect enforcement' ruling means that each individual member of NewJeans will be fined 1 billion won (approx. $725,000) if they continue with entertainment activities independent of ADOR, which would be in violation of the injunction. This enforcement with potential fines does NOT apply to any of NewJeans' independent activities between the granting of the injunction and the granting of this 'indirect enforcement'. These fines will only apply to future activities going forward, or at least until rulings with NewJeans' appeal or the main contract validity case changes anything (next hearing on June 5th). (Source: Chosun Biz, MK Sports) The Korea Herald: Court orders NewJeans to pay Ador 1 billion won for each unauthorized activity Discussion Post Korea JoongAng Daily: Court orders NewJeans members to pay ADOR $725,600 for every independent entertainment activity A statement by NewJeans' representatives was made later in the day primarily acknowledging the indirect enforcement ruling, but reiterating that it is temporary and will no longer have an effect if NewJeans win their appeal of the injunction. (Source: Ilgan Sports) The 2nd hearing for Source Music's damages lawsuit against Min Hee Jin took place at the 12th Civil Affairs Division of the Seoul Western District Court. (Quick recap: 1st was January 10th, 2nd was previously scheduled for March 14th, postponed per Source Music's request). Legal representatives were present. Source Music had a 20-minute presentation prepared, but Min Hee Jin's representatives objected to the inclusion of KakaoTalk messages in the presentation. They claimed the messages were illegally obtained and requested the hearing to be closed/private. Source Music denied the messages were obtained illegally, claiming they were gained from company devices with consent. The court went with a temporary compromise to keep the hearing public, but not allow discussion/display of the messages until they were reviewed again. A special hearing to review the messages will take place June 27th. (Source: Sports Today) 250605 The Seoul Central District Court Division 41 held the second hearing for ADOR seeking confirmation of validity for their exclusive contract with NewJeans. Only legal representatives were in attendance. NewJeans' side primarily argued that ADOR had not met their obligations and that their evidence they were preparing to support NewJeans' activities, like finding a new producer, was inadequate. ADOR's side argued that NewJeans' reasons for allegedly terminating their contract continually changed, indicating they are arbitrary and being made up with retroactive hindsight. The issue of some evidence being collected illegally also came up again from NewJeans' side. Judge Jung Hoe-Il specifically inquired if both/either sides were willing to come to an agreement, encouraging them to do so. NewJeans' representatives strongly indicated this was unlikely as the trust in ADOR had completely collapsed. ADOR's representatives indicated they could see negotiating an agreement once the court comes to a final decision. The 3rd hearing was set for July 24th. (Sources: X Sport News, Maeil Kyungjae) 250612 The next hearing regarding the Shareholder Agreement termination and exercising put/call options lawsuits between HYBE and Min Hee Jin was held at the Seoul Central District Court's 31st Division. Arguments from each side mostly re-tread what we've already covered. HYBE's side argued they were justified in ending the shareholder agreement due to the threat Min Hee Jin posed to the company. Min Hee Hin's side argued the timing of the audit/termination did not align purely with that concern and that some KakaoTalk messages and emails were obtained illegally and not admissable as evidence. HYBE also indicated they had a witness to give testimony at the next meeting, which the court accepted. The next hearing with closing arguments, was set for September 11th for both lawsuits. (Sources: Maeil Kyungjae, TV Daily, Sports Today) 250617 Following up from April 16th when NewJeans appealed the court's decision to uphold the injunction and halt on their independent activities, the Seoul High Court reaffirmed the earlier decision. The court rejected NewJeans' appeal. They determined there was no significant change in the material/arguments presented for the appeal and the original decision to grant ADOR's injunction was justified. There was further clarification that the management conflict between HYBE and Min Hee Jin, and her no longer being NewJeans' producer, did not constitute a valid argument for the alleged collapse of trust between ADOR and NewJeans. The group's withdrawal from ADOR is considered arbitrary, that their artistic freedom or activity is not impeded since they are able to do so within their exclusive contract, and that any damages resulting from attempting independent activities are self-inflicted. 2. 4th gen drained the magic out of kpop, but 5th gen is bringing it back

hi, im a former kpop fan who first got into it back in 2014. i was absolutely obsessed for years, but i completely lost interest around 2020. to me, that was the point where kpop started to feel off. everything was becoming way too westernized, not just in sound but also in presentation and identity. and i know this has been discussed a lot already, but i really do think 2020/2021 marked a big downgrade for kpop as a whole. 4th gen in particular just didnt work for me. i know some people love it, but from my perspective it lacked a lot of what made kpop unique in the first place. instead of bringing fresh concepts or creative risks, it felt like so many groups were just chasing global trends, trying to appeal to the western market at the cost of distinct identity. everything started blending together; same types of beats, same girl crush concept over and over, same heavy edm drops, same "baddie" image. i didnt feel that spark anymore, the sense that each group had its own charm or world to explore. innovation wise, i honestly think 4th gen was the weakest era ive seen. but recently, i stumbled on some of the new 5th gen groups like illit, unis, hearts2hearts, qwer, and kiiikiii, and it feels different. it actually made me feel excited about kpop again for the first time in years. i’m noticing stronger concepts, more distinct sounds, and finally the return of cute/lighthearted concepts, which i’ve really missed. it really feels like some groups are leaning back into what made kpop special. obviously, 5th gen is still in its early stages, but to me it already looks more promising than the 4th gen ever did. there’s a sense of experimentation and identity again, and i’m actually curious to see where these groups go instead of feeling like it’s all just going to be the same thing on repeat. so i wanted to throw this thought out there: am i the only one who feels like 5th gen is shaping up to be way more interesting than 4th gen? and if you guys have other 5th gen girl groups with this kind of energy that you’d recommend, i’d love to check them out submitted by /u/subahipeak [link] [comments]

hi, i’m a former kpop fan who got into it in 2014, but i completely lost interest around 2020 after seeing what it was becoming (way too westernized, but that’s not really the point; i’m sure plenty of people before me have already talked about how kpop downgraded around 2020/2021). but recently i stumbled on groups like illit, unis, hearts2hearts, qwer and kiiikiii and i really like them. it feels like kpop is getting better again, with groups that have strong concepts and finally the return of cute concepts. am i the only one who thinks 5th gen seems way more promising than the 4th, which to me was probably the worst in terms of innovation? also, do you guys have any other 5th gen girl groups in a similar style you’d recommend? submitted by /u/subahipeak [link] [comments]

8. Honestly I am tired of how some of yall "vote" on survival shows! B2P + more

  • 5 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

With Ald1 about to debut and the end of B2P has now happened... I will actually say I am okay with the line up 5 out of my 8 picks made the debut lineup and I am pretty happy with it. That being said where is where my rant comes in. Some of you "vote" for "talent" but then you contradict yourself by voting against ACTUAL TALENT and yall justify it with "oh well they are too young or they are too old" or better yet yall have these weird parasocial relationship with "visuals" and vote for dozens.... which is it??? Also another part of this rant is the whole survival show concept in general I really think survival shows should start debuting 2-3 groups at once similar to the NCT brand. Since ppl keep saying "oh they are too young to debut a mature concept" fine then there needs to be a "young group" a "coming of age group" and a "mature group" so yall can stop voting actual talented people out because of that simple reason alone. Those people on that show are well aware of their own ages and are okay with it and they want to debut so you should as well. Mind you those "too young / too old to debut" trainees are more talented than some of the ppl yall vote for..... Another thing.... a lot of yall are lowkey borderline r@c!st and don't even know it... why in the world do yall think it's okay to say things like "they don't look ( insert ethnicity here ) enough" ... that's not okay to say and also shouldn't be a reason why you ARENT voting for someone... Also I will say... not actually looking into someone's talent based off of an EDITED show to make you vote a certain way needs to be studied... stop relying on edits and go watch the actual performances and clips of those invisible trainees yourself. Just because someone gets a lot of screen time doesn't make them good and yall justify this with "well they didn't get any screen time so I'm not voting for them" which is another contradiction because a lot of ppl who made it to the finals were some ppl who had little to no screen time they had yalls votes lol yall just pick and choose and contradict yourself constantly it's very frustrating. I've found so many talented ppl by just looking at their audition videos etc and if yall did the same it would actually HELP those ppl get visibility. Long story short alot of yall voting systems are ridiculous and need to be checked. Rant over. submitted by /u/No_Philosopher6682 [link] [comments]

9. I’ve watched my best friend chase this dream for 20 years… his debut song is finally out

  • 5 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Hey Kpoppers, I want to be completely honest with you from the start. I’m here to promote my best friend and artist, Slay. But more than promotion, I want to share our story—because it’s one that means everything to me. I’ve known Slay for almost 20 years. We grew up side by side. Ever since elementary school, I’ve seen his love for music. I watched him write, sing, perform, and slowly grow into the incredible artist he is today. From his very first small-stage performances to his first TV debut, I’ve been there in the crowd, clapping the loudest, always his #1 fan. Some of you might remember him, he actually debuted back in 2017 under the name LOANN, but at the time he didn’t get much attention. After that, he shifted his focus to producing, and he quickly became a respected K-pop producer under the name LAS with multiple charting hits. But even while producing, I always knew his real dream never changed: he wanted to be a singer, a performer, and a true K-pop star. And I’ve heard his voice—I know how powerful it is. I always encouraged him to take the leap into a solo career, because I truly believe that once people hear his voice, they’ll be captivated just like I was. Almost a year ago, we took a leap and started our own entertainment company together. It’s been a wild journey, and now we’ve reached the moment we’ve both dreamed of: Slay’s first official solo release is finally here. For me, this isn’t just a song drop. It’s watching my childhood best friend step into the spotlight he’s always deserved. It’s seeing a dream we both believed in for decades finally come true. I couldn’t be prouder, and I just wanted to share this moment with you all. If you’re reading this, I hope you’ll send Slay some love and good energy as he takes this huge step. He’s not just my best friend—he’s an artist with so much passion to give to the world. instagram: slay.las tiktok: slay9711 youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mNo_bEtzick submitted by /u/Dismal-Trip1092 [link] [comments]

What do you think about Wendy's latest release now that you've had time to digest it? What are the standout tracks? How has your opinion changed since its release? What do you think about the sales numbers? How did the release stack up to your expectations? I thought it would be fun to have a two-week-later album discussion! However, I did not include information on the digital chart. I'm sorry, but I do not follow it closely enough to post. If you do, you're welcome to add it in the comments! Asked if he’d want a U.S.-owned TikTok algorithm to suggest more content promoting his Make America Great Again movement, Trump said he’d make it “100% MAGA” Vance said the deal ensures that “American investors will actually control the algorithm” under the new executive order, american investor group that will own tik tok will be pro-maga supporters like murdoch (owner of fox news) and others who are pro-Israeli. so will you continue to support your favs if they continue to promote on tik tok? submitted by /u/Serious-Wish4868 [link] [comments]

15. Suggestions on how to make friends with fellow K-Pop fans?

I hope this is okay to post here 🙏 I recently got into Kpop and it’s basically all I listen to now. Unfortunately none of my irl friends are Kpop fans so I have no one to talk about the music with or go to concerts with. I really want people I can share memes/tik toks with, send song recs to and go to concerts with. Anyone have any suggestions on how to make friends with other Kpop fans? I’m a fan of both boy and girl groups and some of my biases are Hyunjin, Ni-Ki and Keeho (in case anyone is curious). Feel free to share any song recs and playlists. Thanks so much! submitted by /u/Hadesrex2 [link] [comments]
