A pick-me girl (often shortened to pick-me) is a term that means a woman or girl who puts down other women in order to gain attention from men. If you read carefully, there are 2 parts to this. 1.) Putting down other girls This can happen in a few ways like belittling another woman, spreading rumors about another woman, comparing yourself to another woman just to point out all their flaws and make yourself look better, and all the other mean-girl things you can think of. Now, you may be thinking, "Isn't this just bullying or catty behavior?" And you'd be absolutely correct. Pick-me girl behavior goes beyond that because it includes another important aspect that, if not present, makes the term inapplicable. 2.) Seeking attention from men This is the motivation. "I'm not like the other girls." In order to get a man's (or men's) attention, a pick-me girl will go out of her way to degrade other women. She will use other women's flaws to boost herself in front of whoever she's got her sights on. Like calling all other women ugly and superficial and proclaiming herself better in every way just, or saying how women are too stressful to be with and hanging out with boys are better. "Pick me. Choose me. Love me." Y'all seen The Bachelor? That's what I'm talking about. Check out The Bachelorette for the dude version of this. Now that we've established what a pick-me girl actually is, let's go over some things that it isn't: Dramatically drinking water Wearing hip pads Crying at a funeral Getting along with a guy Being in the same frame as a guy Eating a strawberry Being pretty Posing for the camera Acting cute Having the center position Being popular Standing out on stage Having an injury Having more brand deals And I'm sure there's a thousand other things female idols have done that resulted in them being called picked me, but I can't list them all in this post. I genuinely cannot think of a time when a female idol but down their fellow women because she wanted a man's attention. Sure, there's a lot behind the scenes that we don't see, but no one is calling someone a pick me for stuff they don't know about. Sometimes, I think when I see stans throwing around accusations of "pick-me" behavior, the truth is that they don't like the idol and know they have no valid reason for it. Hating someone for no good reason is obviously bad, so they project that on to the idol. They'll diagnose her with internalized misogyny to mask the fact that it's themselves that has an issue. So in conclusion, if what you really mean is "She's so cringe"; "I'm insecure"; "I'm jealous of her"; "I don't like her"; "My fave is better."; "She's stealing attention from my bias"; "She's ruining my ship"; or whatever other thing it is that you're actually thinking, then just say that. Honestly, thinking someone is being cringe isn't even a weird thing to say just so long as you don't hate them for it. We're all cringe every now and then. So, yeah, "pick-me girl" has an actual meaning, but it gets really diluted in toxic k-pop discourse. submitted by /u/SageSageofSages [link] [comments]
I will return the favor with a pic of a Korean JPop-idol 😁so pls send pics ~ submitted by /u/Beautiful_Yellow_682 [link] [comments]
There's this expression in my native language that says "Hati Berbunga". The literal translation would be "Flowery Heart" which....does not convey the meaning. "Full of joy" would be similar but its just doesn't encapsulate it as much. It's the giddy feeling you have when you're talking to your crush for the first time and you're giggly. That's what i feel throughout listening to the whole EP. Like the leftover sparkle after a magical girl transformation especially after Do the Dance and bamsopoong. Less sailor moon but more Cardcaptor Sakura. I just enjoy the EP a lot and appreciate Illit for being strong magical girls that they are. Also the opening for Do that Dance, opening of the century. I need that sound bite as my ringtone. submitted by /u/Illustrious-Power518 [link] [comments]
So I'm not someone who watches a lot of dramas. I've seen a couple that I like but there are still many songs from these dramas that I like and have them in my playlist. My favorite OST album is actually from a drama that I didn't like very much - Nevertheless. It has a really fresh sound...unlike many ballad heavy OSTs which is why I like it so much. Butterfly and So Tender would be my favourites Other than that, I really like Done for Me by Punch (Hotel Del Luna), Stay With Me by Chanyeol & Punch (Goblin), My Love by Baekhyun (Dr. Romantic 2) and Start Over by Gaho (Itaewon Class) submitted by /u/Chutneysandwich16 [link] [comments]
Do u have any certain concept or theme you want a girl or boy group to try? Even when kpop groups do experiment with music, they would still stick to their core sound. Did you come across any group that you find would suit a completely different concept or vibe extremely well? Or curious how it will turn out to be? Is there any you would like to see? submitted by /u/InstructionPitiful88 [link] [comments]

What do you think about Baby DON'T Cry debut? I personally didn't like it, and I liked the first song better; anyway what are your opinions. I would really like to know since their debut has been under the spotlight cause of the controversy. submitted by /u/Quejumbrosam [link] [comments]
1st pic is Han sung (V) from Hwarang and 2nd pic is Wang Eun (Baekhyun) from Scarlet Heart Both drama released in 2016 and also their first acting debut Both characters played by idols and even more crazier Baekhyun and V used to look so similar Both characters is basically the same character in different drama. Innocent, bubbly and mischievous. Surrounded by MEN SPOILER Both characters also die with the protagonist hold them during their last breath lmao Like, I cannot stress enough after watching both of these dramas. Not only they look similiar, their personalities and ending too. ARGHAGAHWBS Guys let's talk about it!! Did Army and Exol back in 2016 have a buzz about this? submitted by /u/Personal_Damage6616 [link] [comments]
With HOW FAST katseye's fanbase is growing it's crazy. Hybe geffen won the lottery with them. They are obviously very talented, charming and attractive. They go viral every second day for their dynamics. Makes me think of some of the most popular groups right now, like bts, skz, svt they are all kinda popular within their fanbases for their family/friends like dynamics and the kats are moving the same way. I know people like to joke they are not media trained but I think they are just incredibly smart. They know what their audience like, they never cross lines, are open to their fans, funny. They all also come from very loving and affluent families, which shows ngl. Music is great. The marketting is amazinggg. Their team cleary know now how to use their personalities and talents to the best. Both gnarly and gabriela scream katseye. I love it, I think they are doing everything right. submitted by /u/True-Caregiver7254 [link] [comments]
Why is it that every Japanese idols in kpop is weak in vocal compare to Korean?? Well I think Chinese are weak too but Japanese idols are much worse. Can someone enlighten me? Maybe because the great ones in Japan and China don't want to go to kpop? Or Korean just have much better vocalist overall? Like, every kpop groups that have Chinese or Japanese, their main vocalist or top 1 would be Korean. For example: - EXO: Chen, D.O, Baek - Twice: Nayeon, Jihyo - Svt: Seungkwan, DK - NCT 127: Doyoung, Jaehyun - NCT Dream: Haechan - NCT Wish: Jaehee - Gidle: Miyeon Like, Exo-M used to exist, made of bunch of Chinese members yet their best vocalist is Chen, a Korean. NCT Wish is Japanese unit filled with Japanese members yet their best vocalist is Jaehee, a Korean. What's even more interesting is during NCT Lastart, there's 3 best vocalists among the trainees. Yet in a room full of Japanese, those 3 best vocalists are all Koreans. Maybe I don't know any kpop group with their main vocalist or top 1 vocalist is Japanese. I have seen few Chinese of top 1 but never Japanese. submitted by /u/Personal_Damage6616 [link] [comments]
I just learned that ILY:1 are disbanding from this and it's so unfortunate to see another smaller group disbanding like this. I wasn't really a stan but I was a casual listener and they had such a beautiful discography. It's such a shame to see them go but I hope the members have a nice future submitted by /u/baldism [link] [comments]
I saw a lot of people praising him for the donation and his will to help is amazing but I also saw many post falsely explaining how the centre will operate and making it seem like it's just a happy, fun music therapy. If anyone actually read the articles they would learn that unfortunately the centre is supposed to work "expanding on" outdated and by many considered as harmful behavioural therapies. Those therapies (called also ABA) focus on pretty much training children with Autism to suppress Autism specific behaviour like stimming and behave like their neurotypical peers, because of the belief that it will make their (and everyone's around them) life easier. In reality those therapies often lead to a lot of frustration and many mental health problems, there are studies showing they can cause PTSD and other types of trauma in children, even when parents see what they consider great results. So while it sounds great on the surface the centre planning to introduce music to a known harmful therapy regiment and writing guides on how to do it (apparently the new approach to this therapy will be made with Yoongi's personal help!) is nothing to celebrate and only sets back Korea's understanding of the ASD. I just watched it and I have to say,Best movie I have seen in 2025 and I really Liked all the references of the kpop groups the have shown and Since it might be possible if it gets a sequel and there should be a new choice for Villains Drop the idols you wanna see that might resemble in the sequel submitted by /u/hornymales [link] [comments]
Ok so iam not talking about myself right now. I stan NCT and EXO, 2 groups who are very popular and have a massive fanbase. However i know people who stan far more unpopular groups and they always tell me how hard it is for them. They are always worried that the group might disband due to finicial troubles or because the company just gives up on them. Lack of Recognition. Algorithms on Youtube or spotify don't recommend them often, so there growth is slower. Also they don't get invited to award shows or ceremonies. The group has a small budget wich means the quality of music Videos or concept isn't the best. No frequent comebacks Small fandom. You don't find many people to talk with or share you opinion, you quickly get overshadowed by bigger groups and fandoms. Constantly defending your group from rude comparisons or being ignored by media/fans of bigger groups can get exhausting. I know this probably isn't that big of a thing, but i just thought about it. submitted by /u/Injeolmie_04 [link] [comments]
TWICE just surprise dropped snippets of EACH members upcoming tour solo song on their instagram!! This on top of the full 14 song album coming and dont forget about the 8 other projects the girls have released since 2022, along with the several successful solo/subunit projects. These girls just continue to FEED Onces lol How do Blinks deal with the lack of content and new group music, lack of communication, and at this point just blatant disrespect from YG and honestly the BP girls as well? I'll be praying that 1 song comeback of theirs is a mega hit because if it's not, yikessss it won't be pretty lol submitted by /u/tzukani_ [link] [comments]
