Right, so here I am, back again a year later after I made my post about how Atiny keep infantilizing Yeosang and frankly not only has it gotten worse imo, but the behavior of many in the fandom as a whole has become immature at best and downright toxic at worst. I've just come across an Ateez fanpage on IG making a public apology post about how they would do better, that the admin team member had been educated on the issue and why they were wrong, and lastly that the admin team member had also been kicked out for what they did. Quite literally suspended and removed from the team. So you're asking yourself "what did they do to warrant this kind of a response and a public apology from the rest of the team???" They congratulated Eden on Insta for Ateez hitting the BB100........ I.....I cannot even BEGIN to this. And I double checked a few comments to make sure that that one person wasn't trolling. They were not as far as I can see, that is legitimately the reason for this reaction. Maybe it's because I'm 26, I'm an adult with a degree and a job, but how can anyone sit here and tell me that's appropriate behavior. That is childish at best and toxic at worst, I'm honestly still trying to comprehend it. I thought "it's not April Fools but this HAS to be a joke." I've been an Atiny since 2020, and sure we had our issues, need I remind us all of the Thanxx affair, but for the most part people were pretty mature at the time and yes Ateez was smaller, their reach was not the same. But now? I go on IG and my feed obviously has a lot of Ateez content in it and I dread opening people's posts now because everything is becoming negative. I know it's partly just because it's kpop and this seems to happen when any group gets big but banning an admin team member for congratulating the man responsible for the large majority of their music production because you don't like how he distributes lines is literally ridiculous. Please, folks from other big kpop fandoms, let me know if this is just normal behavior when a group makes it big or if we need to start gatekeeping Ateez again. I understand some of the frustrations with line distribution but I don't really want to rehash my post from last year, but we don't know what goes on off camera, yes we know a lot based on what we see and what they tell us but that does not make us privy to every aspect of their lives and thoughts not privy to the professional work relationship Ateez has with KQ/Eden and vice versa. I'm all for trying to balance the distribution but the way people have chosen to handle it, and how they are treating Eden is disappointing. I have worked in the arts, in an amateur setting but I studied theater in my undergrad studies, minored in Shakespeare related performance. So maybe I understand it in a different level than some, that you don't always get to be the big roles and even if you or others think you're really really good, it's also true that directors (and I'm sure producers) like to make sure they have their strongest players in their specific areas. Again I don't want to rehash my post from last year, if you'd like to hear my thoughts on the infantilizing of Yeosang you can check it out. Again I'd love to hear the thoughts of those in other large fandoms. Has this happened to y'all? How do you handle it? Is this just a growing period or is this just how it's always gonna be? Edit: tried posting this once but the automod removed it for either titling issues or flair issues so I'm trying to post again. submitted by /u/A_Kat_And_Mouse_Game [link] [comments]

They are called "Hearts 2 Hearts" When H2H’s comeback track “Style” came out, there was something I felt missing. I couldn’t really put my finger on it until I rewatched “The Chase” their debut song. One part that really stood out to me in their debut MV as well as their stage choreography was the dance break - it was performed by 2 members (Jiwoo & Juun), my initial thought seeing that for the first time was “Wow they have 2 Main Dancers?” I thought it was unique and started to wonder maybe this group would have 2 of every positions, like 2 Main Vocals, 2 Main Rappers, maybe even 2 Centers (or even a group that had no Centers since the Center position promotes individualism). This group would have a lot of "ships" sailing! It was kind of unique and it just made a lot of sense based on their group name alone (of course I later learned that was not the case after their individual positions were announced during their debut showcase). But that's when it occurred to me - the number 2. Companionship. This group felt like it was marketed to promote 2-gethernes (togetherness), to promote pairing, to promote having someone else beside you - a duo-ship or a companionship. A group with no individualism. That sense was what was missing in their comeback. The comeback felt more geared toward promoting individuals more than the whole. Both the MV and stage performances had so many spots where other members were hidden or regulated to be background decorations to highlight someone else. Then I realized SM really missed the boat to capitalize on the name they gave this group: Hearts2Hearts. They marketed H2H as a pair but promoted them more as certain individuals, which is why we are starting to see monikers of H2H being labeled an “and Friends” group, as in “(insert a member’s name) and Friends” while also having multiple controversies during their live stage performances of covering up members to promote another, the backlash was loud enough that SM had actually modify their choreography during the group's first week of promotions. My hope is that SM goes back to the concept and roots of what makes a group like Hearts2Hearts tick and that's a group that supports togetherness. submitted by /u/JcaHot [link] [comments]

With the new tour coming up and everything it seems like the girls want to ful;y go solo. In lots of videos of the blackpink members they often address their fans with their new solo fandom names. I recently saw a vid on TT talking about it and it got me thinking. Do the girls not see themselves as apart of the group anymore? it just seems like they want to be separate from blackpink. As toxic as solo stan culture is I don't get the enforcing it by each member having their own separate fandom name? If anyone knows or thinks they know why they're doing this feel free to tell me. submitted by /u/Amaterialgrowll [link] [comments]
Hi there, I am writing an essay about K-pop's global influence and might need your opinion. Who are the K-popers you think are impacting the global music industry? and why? I am curious to hear your thoughts and let's discuss! submitted by /u/IllustratorDue8554 [link] [comments]
I want to discuss a bit about whole billboard hot 100 thing and generally Billboard charts. I mad a comment under Ateez recent entry but I realised some things that are quite concerning. Firstly let me share with you some stats: There is apparently 109 K-pop songs that entered Billboard hot 100. Out of 109 songs 85 belongs to BTS, BlackPink members or their features with other artists. Which leaves us with 24 songs by artists such as: Wonder Girls - 1, PSY - 5, CL - 1, Baby shark - 1, Twice - 2, New Jeans - 5, Fifty fifty - 1, Stray Kids - 3, Le Sserafim - 2, Illit - 1, Ateez - 1, Katseye - 1. Out of all 109 songs 62 were on hot 100 only for 1 week. Which means that their entry to this chart were mainly because of album sales and partially streams. Only some of the songs (26 in total) of PSY, BTS, BlackPink, NewJeans, Fifty fifty and Baby shark were on hot 100 for 5 or more weeks. I'm talking about it all because K-pop groups more often then not show up on billboard 200, or album 100 ect. which shows that people like it, listen to it and buy it but radio stations don't really want to stream the songs. That's why they are dropping so quickly because everyone focuses on buying and streaming in the beginning and for K-pop to be more relevant in US it's essential to stream it on radio too but they don't want to do it. Now comes the conspiracy theory. Billboard has Hits of the world category. Where basically you can check different hot songs in different countries including very small ones. Now tell me why out of all this countries only South Korean charts are not visible? For some reason when I tried to check Korean songs there is error 404 page cannot be found. Interesting right? Considering that all the other countries all over the world I checked have their own stats updated. Korean billboard 100 stopped in 2022. Do you think Korea have some sort of beef with Billboard or maybe there was not enough US artists entering Korean charts so they decided to stop updating it? Seems kinda shady. What are your thoughts? submitted by /u/TruthApprehensive304 [link] [comments]

Since BOYS II PLANET coming soon, I’ve been kinda curious about this. I barely have any real-life friends who are into K-pop, and when people find out I watch something like BOYS PLANET or PRODUCE 101, they tell me I’m weird, saying, “Why are you watching a show with 100 young dudes? Why not just watch the girl group seasons full of pretty girls?” Some even question my gender. 🤨🧐 Honestly, the boy seasons are way more entertaining to me. I feel like they’re more genuine, and it’s funnier — almost like a low-key variety show. The girl group seasons feel more serious. I mean, the boys are serious too, but they still mess around, way more chilling, do stupid stuff, and cause chaos, have so many characters — and it all feels so natural. But when they’re fighting or beefing, it’s way more intense and fun to watch. 😅 I watched PRODUCE 101 Season 2, PRODUCE X 101, I-LAND, BOYS PLANET, STARLIGHT BOYS, and PROJECT 7 and many other shows live while they were airing. (especially PD2, PDX, and BP, which I’ve rewatched more than three times, and still enjoy with it. ) These shows are like WWE, football, or the NBA — basically men’s sports for me. And the FINAL is literally the Super Bowl of K-POP. I live for it. I’ve also watched the girls seasons too ex. PRODUCE 101 (2016), PRODUCE 48, GIRLS PLANET 999, R U NEXT? and I-LAND2. But only once — they were kinda boring to me. 😭 I’ve noticed that most K-POP fanboys usually stan girl groups — watching anything with lots of beautiful girls dancing/Singing to cute or sexy concepts. But I actually stan boy groups more. I enjoy watching cool songs with powerful choreography. I know a lot of girl groups, but I barely listen to them. 90% of my K-POP playlist is filled with male artists ex. WOODZ, GOT7, WINNER, iKON, BIGBANG, ENHYPEN, ZB1, SHINee, DAY6, NU’EST, X1, WANNA ONE, MONSTA X, BTOB I wonder, is it common or not really that much? Are there any grown men who enjoy watching boy group survival shows and prefer male K-pop songs more? And what’s the reason? submitted by /u/M1NNER2 [link] [comments]
So, I been listening to Seventeen Thunder. But when I was looking at a short last night. When I was read a comment about S.coups part where he spells Thunder, the commenter said "it's more like T.H.E.U.D.E.R." Tell me why now, I hear T.H.E.U.T.E.R.? 🤦🏿♀️ When I didn’t before. 😅Please tell me I'm not the only one, this is weird and funny. I know some people miss hear SKZ lyrics but I never did. submitted by /u/LuckyTurn8913 [link] [comments]
