I feel like everyone’s on the same page about how little control idols have in the kpop industry, I personally wish to see idols have more control of how they want to do instead of just doing whatever the company tells them, especially groups from big labels. I’d like to see, let's say, a group get a song for their upcoming release, and if the idols don't like the song, they should be allowed to say no, and ask the songwriting team to make improvements or something like that. I guess that’s why it’s necessary to have at least one or two idols in the group who can write songs a little bit, or at least have a vision of what they want the music to sound like for their album. They could work with the songwriting team and direct them. I also wish idols had the authority to fire their manager or staff members in their team, if they feel they aren’t doing their job properly. With all that control, I think the group will be more authentic and better. I'm not fond of the way companies give idols an insane amount of guidelines to follow about what they can do or say, all those limitations are just ridiculous, to say the least. I reckon there are some idols who host a podcast, like Minju's Pink Cabinet for instance, I honestly can't ever imagine it, an idol who has an insane amount of restrictions on what they can say doing a podcast with another idols who also have the same amount of restrictions, like, what’s even left to talk about? It's like two npcs talking to each other, the podcast looks absolutely dead. Moreover, I'm not really a big fan of idols doing so many livestreams on Instagram, Weverse or whatever platform they're on, I mean, if they do it once in a while for promotional purposes or anything related to their work, that's totally legit, but most of the time they just hang out and do small chat with the viewers, sometimes they even eat while doing it. There’s absolutely no point in doing that, of course, people would say it’s the way idols keep in touch and connect with their fans, but that's kind of nonsensical, because whether you like it or not, the fact is that idols work in the music industry, and the way you connect with your fans is through the songs, through the music, and nothing else. submitted by /u/Gullible-Distance594 [link] [comments]
