I am not even lying when I say this misconception has caused so much unnecessary hate towards groups. Overrated means that you find something worse than the general perception and concensus of that thing. Not that something is less popular than you feel it has the right to be. Edit: Same applies with underrated. An amazing song with little views is under recognized, not underrated Please use your terms correctly. submitted by /u/SnooOranges829 [link] [comments]
After the boring/hideous Sydney Sweeney's AE commercial, the KATSEYE one was really refreshing and new. What are your thoughts <3 submitted by /u/cherryreds0da [link] [comments]

Sorry for getting aggressive, but for every post I put the rule all capitalised and I write in the title to check the rules and yet I always get like 20 submissions of the same band submitted by /u/DaGayEnby [link] [comments]
So I heard recently Aespa's Rich Man song and I was pleasantly surprised at the quote they used in the opening of song. As an American elder millennial, I know where the quote comes from that they used in their song but I was wondering how many younger gen people weren't aware that they were quoting Cher from an interview that she did back in the mid-90s. Hearing this made me think of people who might not understand that this is a quote from Cher especially considering that the quote is about 30 years old. This also made me wonder how many things we hear in Korean and our favorite K-pop songs that are quotes and references to cultural things and Korea that we are unaware of. So I want to ask, is anyone aware of any specific quote or reference in certain K-pop songs that are completely lost on non-Koreans? submitted by /u/citrusandrosemary [link] [comments]
Streaming numbers and the obsession around them cause the most fanwars and encourage some to view artists as their personal validation piggy bank. And I know people be like: "Let everyone enjoy things the way they chose to" but I honestly think that the whole discourse about charts and streams negatively affects the way people perceive art and that it creates a toxic relationship towards your own personal taste. Streaming numbers and chart positions should only be visible to the artists and their agencies, what do you think? submitted by /u/Difficult_Win_2534 [link] [comments]
SF9 and NU'EST are some of my all-time favorite groups, they both have had moments with rises in popularity, but for those not familiar with their work I am going put y'all on to some of my favorite songs from them. SF9 Easy Love - One of my all time favorite kpop songs PERIOD! Good Guy - this for me is one of those songs that truly shows the groups identity. Tear Drop - The reign of the sexy era (post Kingdom): this is who SF9 really is that classy, yearning type of sexy. RPM - You want more pop heavy don't worry loves they got that too. Love Race - most recent come back Puzzel - another banger of perfection. Honorable mentions: O Solo Mio , Move (kingdom performance) , Believer Trust this list could be longer, I Iove them soo much , but I won't overwhelm yall with greatness and I still need to do NU'EST. NU'EST NU'EST is an older group so we got to go back a bit but enjoy the ride I am going take you on. Good Bye - when I think of 2014 era of kpop this is one of the first songs that comes to mind for me, a classic. Hello - Another classic from a time long ago (lol) Overcome - this is the song that got me, and I haven't been off the group sense. Love Paint - really highlights their smooth sound which I personally think is their identity. Help Me - NU'EST W (while Minhyun was with Wanna One) Even with missing a strong vocal member they just don't miss. Inside Out - My personal favorite NU'EST song Now I am going to stop them at 6 like SF9 but before getting to honorable mentions I have to show love to their goodbye song as a group, because unfortunately they have disbanded. Again - is a letter to their fans a closing of this book and the beginning of another. Honorable Mentions: I'm in Trouble , BET BET , Dejavu (NU'EST W) I know, I know this post is long already, but I wanted to do these groups justice. I mainly focused on title tracks for the sake of the post but best believe both groups' B-sides are in heavy rotation. I just wanted to share some my personal favs and do them justice. Enjoy! - I hope you enjoyed the read and the listen. submitted by /u/_flustershy [link] [comments]
This isn’t necessarily a rant and I never post here but I keep seeing this. What is it with Kpop variety shows and eating? I don’t mean variety shows like Knowing Bros but the ones by the group specifically (like Leniverse, BP House, Time To Twice to name a few). Every time there’s a two-episode thing, one is always the idols just eating and then the other one is about the actual activity. I get that it’s funny when there are random conversations among the idols about God knows what. But that’s not even the case most of the time. It’s always them talking about how good the food is, how they had that before once, how they want to go eat this at a restaurant next time. Don’t get me wrong, obviously no one‘s forcing me to watch it. But it’s just annoying how every time I get into a new group and check out their content, half of it isn’t even actual content. I’d watch ASMR videos of people eating if that’s all I wanna see. Is it the only time the idols get to eat freely or why else is it always such a highlight in variety shows that that’s what an entire 20 minute episode is about? submitted by /u/Fun_Pianist526 [link] [comments]
So basically in House Tour, Sabrina is trying to get a guy to, you know, tour her house (we don't talk about all the innuendo here ;)). I imagine her music video would be a very fun retro-vibe of her touring the house with the guy. However, because there's always someone dying in her MVs lately, she would probably having something like that as well. And this is when Red Velvet started popping in my head. Remember Peek-a-boo? In Peek-a-boo, RV girls basically seduce the pizza delivery guy to come in for their cult-like rituals and hunting game. I imagine if this was for House Tour, Sabrina would be their pimp. Kinda like the one who brings the guy for sacrifice. So the video would be super glamorous, but with heavy insinuating theme of something is very wrong going on here like the girls' death trophy (pizza delivery guy's shirt, candle circle, etc) I know this collab is pretty much impossible at this point, but it is nice to dream lol submitted by /u/maomao2406 [link] [comments]

I love the rock band vibe to the album, it's a very nostalgic sound for someone like me who grew up listening to a lot of bands. 1) Fireproof - based on the album highlight medley, i knew I'd love this, and boy was i right. Wendy's voice is so fluid and flowy in the chorus. The song embodies freedom. I can see this playing as an OST with the protagonist breaking out of the sunroof, arms wide and wind in their hair. 2) Sunkiss (title track)- love the MV concept and i LOVE how Wendy's voice ascends to hit the notes in the chorus. I think the transitions between the choruses and the rest of the song could have been done better but it is a really enjoyable track and i expect it to be stuck in my head for the rest of the day. 3) Existential Crisis - It's giving Paramore and I'm all for it. Love the vocal fry and Wendy's delivery throughout the song. I'll be replaying this for days brb 4) Chapter You - soft and sentimental. A perfect interval and shift in the energy of the album imo. Kind of like the classic ballad in the album while still preserving the rock sound of the album. This one is a grower. 5) Hate² - of course it's called Hate square(d). Wendy is a known math geek. Passionate and speaks of knowing what she wants. She wrote and composed this, and the love for it really comes through. Love the the bridge and the epicness of the final chorus and outro so much! 6) Believe - wraps up the album beautifully. Embodies everything this album means for Wendy. A new beginning, forging her own path in unfamiliar territory. Faith in her abilities and her fans and future. TLDR: Love the album, it's different from the other albums and represents her well as a soloist outside of Red Velvet. The album promo period is going to be a lot of fun, packed with schedules. I hope she gets some well deserved success followed by rest! submitted by /u/zylcasea [link] [comments]

Recently Rose won SOTY (APT) at the VMA which is an extremely great feat, especially by a kpop idol, which I am extremely happy for, APT was a collaboration with Bruno Mars, did Bruno play a huge role in the song and its popularity? Yes, he did, that is one of the reason the song has won, why are some people disregarding the fact that Rose also played a huge role in it? Both of them are signed under the same Label, Atlantic records. Ever since Rose had won the VMA, many people (I'm looking a particular fandom here), saying she only won the SOTY, because BTS was inactive for 2+ years. Almost every comment underneath her videos are saying she won cause BTS "paved" the way, and that she won because of BTS paving the way, can we please stop including another group underneath another artists success ? Calling her a Bruno Mars "plus one" is ridiculous... I am so fed up, with all this bs against Blackpink, why? The audacity to call Blackpink nugus like seriously? Saying the nomination was bought cause apparently according to these people, APT wasn't charting, that song was everywhere on every social media platform, wdym it did not chart, they've got to be serious, and that the engagement came from this "BTS paved the way for the whole of kpop"...I'm not hating on BTS, or ARMY , but seriously why do they have to bring that c into every single conversation? That fandom is acting as if, having a collaboration is a bad thing...Even BTS has done multiple collabs with western artists, so why is wrong when BP (Rose) does it? Apparently without BTS, Rose is nothing, tf? Saying that BTS opened the way for the VMA? Now I am not disregarding the fact that BTS have won multiple times at the VMAs , good for them and the fandom, I don't get why ARMYs have to include BTS under BP's success.. its very childish at this point, when the artists themselves don't have a problem, why are fandoms always fighting? | I might get downvoted but oh well, drop your thoughts below submitted by /u/ContextTurbulent3054 [link] [comments]
