Kpop fans don't know what a voice crack is

Stupid post I know but this has always been such a pet peeve of mine. I am genuinely so confused because I don't know how it's even possible for this many people to have no idea what a voice crack. If you go online (yes ik that's my mistake), every performance has a voice crack (even ones that were clearly lip synced), an idol goes off key for one second? Voice crack. An idol has some shaky vocals? Voice crack. An idol struggles to hit a high note? Voice crack. An idol changes their singing tone at the beginning of a new line? Voice crack. I feel like im losing my mind. It is not that serious but it drives me crazy for some reason. A voice crack is not just what you call bad singing. 1.929. Physical Media Is Cool Again. Streaming Services Have Themselves to Blame

  • 2 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I saw this today appreciated the sentiment, although not fully about kpop but I think physical media is also really important in this hobby, you don't have to fall into consumerism I think second hand copies are great and I buy a lot of kpop stuff secondhand for personal archiving and it keeps things from entering the landfill as well. There's so many broadcast variety shows I would have loved to have physical copies of especially from 2nd gen. I also don't like how Hybe is only releasing some concert and video content in stuff like LSFM's on/off through qr codes that are stuck on weverse. I don't trust companies to preserve stuff that fans care about and I'm surprised about how some fans would be fine without a cd and say stuff like no one owns a cd/dvd player anymore when you can go to thrift stores and buy them easily for a few dollars or use their old ps3 or ps4's. I just want more fans to know about ripping dvd's/cds, self hosting your own streaming server, digital audio players there so many cool things you can do to curate and improve your experience with your hobbies. submitted by /u/Temporary_Potato_254 [link] [comments]

so we don't exactly know when HUNTR/X debuted since the movie never really explained that. We can assume the Saja Boys are a 5th Gen group though. Though the question still remains, what generation do we think HUNTR/X and the Saja Boys are? Are they a 4th Gen group? Or a 5th Gen group? exmaples of 4th Gen Group (Groups debuted between 2018 and 2022) Stray Kids LOONA K/DA (League of Legends) ATEEZ WayV ITZY TXT examples of 5th Gen Groups (Groups debuted since 2023) tripleS BOYNEXTDOOR KISS OF LIFE ZEROBASEONE ILLIT KATSEYE MEOVV submitted by /u/Limp_Fig6236 [link] [comments]

1.931. In my feels about shinee right now

I've been a kpop stan for a very long time and shinee was the group that got me into it with their variety shows. I remember watching hello baby, and all of world date with shinee πŸ₯Ί. When Jonghyun passed it was just so devastating and tbh I just stopped following them in general because it was hard. But I've started following them again recently and I just love seeing how far they've come, esp Taemin. And I love seeing how they still never forget him but they've kept growing too. Poet Artist warms my heart so much hearing them as five again. submitted by /u/xlov_mother_muti [link] [comments]

1.935. Live singing on music shows is making a comeback?

  • 2 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

(I'm a girl group fan so this really only applies to girl groups. I don't really know what's going on with boy groups.) Especially with some of these rookie groups! Kiiikiii, ifeye and Say my Name performing with live vocals and minimal backing tracks on Music Bank yesterday. Kiiras and Baby Don't Cry had some very live stages in their debut eras, and SM let h2h sing live for a couple (?) of their Style music show performances. Soloists too, Yena and Yves are serving live vocals on their solo comebacks this week. Yes, obviously for some groups live singing never went out of style (NMIXX, i-dle, Itzy come to mind), but I feel like this is maybe the first time ever I've tuned into a music show and been pleasantly surprised to hear real voices in the majority of GG performances, ESPECIALLY rookies! I wonder why the shift in trend - lipsync used to be (and for many, still is) the norm for music shows. But 5th gen seems to be putting much more emphasis on live performance. Whatever the reason, I hope it sticks. I love love love live vocals, it adds so much to the performance. It's great to see performers singing live even with difficult choreos. submitted by /u/DueConflict8215 [link] [comments]

1.938. Twice has skewed my perception of what singers look like and what they do [Silly]

  • 2 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Just a silly little post, but after Twice headlined Lolla, I started checking the other acts in the line up. For context, Twice is my first real experience with singers of any kind, and they are still primarily my experience with that world. Like I listened to music, but didn't actually look up musicians and watch live shows, you know? Anyway, back to my point. I just realized how much Twice (and kpop really) shaped my expectations of performers lmao. Like why did I keep waiting for Sabrina to do a dance break? Why was I so surprised that majority of the acts there were normal-looking people wearing very normal clothes? Some of the sets were just people singing with their guitars, and honest to god, that felt like a culture shock. I kept expecting people to pull out choreo and kept getting surprised when they didn't. The whole experience has just been such a funny journey of self-reflection for me.I did not realize just how much Twice (and kpop) have shaped my understanding of music and performances. I didn't realize I've built certain expectations until they weren't met and I was left baffled. I've gotten used to dancing and spectacle, and some part of me had believed them to be a universal thing in the music industry. I didn't really get what people meant when they say Kpop has their own conventions, but I think I understand it now. submitted by /u/BlueThePineapple [link] [comments]

1.939. I'm not liking TWICE's new releases (Not hatingβ€”my opinion)

  • 2 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

This is super unpopular. I'm a ONCE, but recently TWICE new releases are cutting it for me. I'm disliking how they keep on releasing mediocre english releases. The only good english release (FOR MEEE) was "The Feels" which was essentially what made me like K-POP, and maybe even "Strategy" only because I listened to it like a million times so I can find my self liking it. Their new song and album "This is for" was so disappointing. Supposed to be for onces but it was giving a quick cash grab. It was so generic and westernized. No rap in the song, same boring beats and flow, the choreography isn't even memorable, just overall garbage. What saved them for me was then releasing "Enemy" a Japanese title track, because that was actually a pretty good song. Their fully last good release has to be "Talk that Talk" after that everything went down-hill. I know many onces are gonna say "well since they are not treated well and forgotten in Korea they are marketing western countries", which okay cool, it is a good idea, but if you ARE going to do that, at least make the song good and not a flipping two minute song. I don't want to hear "You are not a once then", i'm allowed to dislike there songs, i'm not gonna force myself to like something I clearly don't enjoy. I still like twice, listening to their old discography is what's really making me still support them. I want to go to their concerts, but if they start only singing their new releases, I might as well just dip. Also their b-sides are so boringβ€”a snooze fest even. If you DO like their new releases, it's perfectly fine, I don't mind if you do. Personally me, nope. submitted by /u/PPAP_tzuyu [link] [comments]
