I don't think I would class myself as a HYBE stan. If you look at any other company, even the big 3, there are definitely some groups that are lacking in popularity and one may arguably say, success. But every single one of HYBE's groups is a success, globally. It's actually crazy. Maybe I'm misled and that other companies have more success inside Korea, but still. The 15th of July 2025 will mark 20 years at JYP for Jihyo. To celebrate, Div 3/Stride invited a bunch of Jihyo’s friends to film content together, eat cake and celebrate Jihyo. Winter's outfit in the choreo video consists of a Rosary that she's wearing as a necklace. A Rosary is not an accessory. It's sacred to Catholics and isn't meant to be showcased in such a way because they're prayer beads. I don't know why people don't take Christianity as seriously as other religions because there'd be discourse if an idol was wearing a hijab or a bindi as a style thing. It's frustrating to see the kpop industry disrespecting all religions, but stans never go as hard to stand up for Christianity. a while back, k-pop artists would give their fans small gifts in the name of "reverse tribute" or to promote the brand they are signed with, and the fans would almost cry from happiness. well, times have changed. the behaviour of some fans now is off-putting, and makes it risky to give them anything. there is often discourse on the price of the gifts given by "rich" idols to their fans today. it's unbelievable because it's an incredibly mannerless act to weight gifts given by absolutely anyone by their price tags. yet, somehow, it is still persistent among such idiots. idols who give expensive branded items are praised and idols who give cheaper goodies are shamed. a few incidents that come to my mind are how kim junsu came under fire last year for gifting his fans chocolates on his valentines' day event or how le sserafim is being criticized right now for giving out snacks and a plushie. we should be grateful for our favourite idols even wanting to give us something back beside their art work. it's disappointing that such so-called fans hate on acts of kindness and love. at the same time, i don't think expensive gifts should be normalized within the industry as it just creates added pressure on smaller groups. what do you guys think? submitted by /u/snorlaxdreams_ [link] [comments]
