Making it in the west isn't be-all and end-all and SM groups will remain successful whether they become popular in the US or not. But SM has been trying for almost a 2 decades. Hybe, JYP and YG have (had) at least 2 groups that are pretty successful in the US. JYP has Twice and SKZ doing stadium tours. YG has BP and Bigbang and 2ne1 were the most successful 2nd gen acts in the west. Hybe has thee BTS and several of their groups like TXT, SVT, Enhypen, Le Sserafim and Newjeans all have good following in the US. SM tried with Boa, SuperM, NCT127 and this time, aespa. I can't talk about Boa because I wasn't here during her peak but SuperM seemed too corny (they gave us memeble music tho). They seem to be trying with aespa, Coachella, English songs, US shows and now, a collaboration with a western artist and remixes. But it doesn't seem to work. Some fans say they should've tried with Red Velvet and Exo. I guess RV could've built a nice following. I'm not sure about Exo because their last tour back in 2017 apparently didn't sell out. I just KNOWWWW these ceos, executives and shareholders are seeing katseye’s success. Chart wise, they’re doing better than some of the biggest groups in Korea! They have the MOST monthly listeners for a girl group right now and they have two songs that charted in the hot 100 and they’re barely a year old. I have a feeling we’ll be seeing more of these kpop formula western groups soon. My stomach always sinks when I read the words "The winners will be determined by a raffle" on an event announcement because no matter what I do, how up to date my membership is, how many albums I buy, I never win them, but so many people i follow on Instagram always seem to win and will even win more than once. I went to Seoul for Festa and didn't win either Armyzone day while so many people won both days and started selling their second photocard set for for $500 on in our country's BST group. It felt really unfair to let a lot of people win twice and get two sets of gifts while others didn't get to go at all. I entered all of Jungkook's Golden event, Jin's Happy Event, Jin's Hi-Touch, Hobi's Killing it Girl award show recordings, D-Day Movie Night, Jin's 2024 Festa Event, Hobi's Sweet Dreams event, Vicnic and Jimin's Production Diary event and didn't win a single one of them. Pretty much every one I follow and know in this fandom has won at least one of the events. Even this girl in my city who is the only other person I know who didn't win either Army Zone day won Jin's event last year, so I couldn't help but be bitter when she complained about Weverse hating her because she didn't get the Festa PCs. Girl, you at least won SOMETHING even if you've lost most Raffles, I've never won a SINGLE raffle. A couple of girls on TikTok and Instagram have won almost every single one of these events and I'm not usually a conspiracy theorist starting to wonder if it is rigged for these big influencer accounts to win somehow because they make reels and content, and they're young and pretty. I'm not an "influencer" style Army, I don't have the aesthetic account, I'm in my 40s, overweight and unattractive and it's starting to make me wonder if I'm just not really welcome as an Army. And if it is not that....I wish they'd have a limit that you can only win a couple of events a year so other people get a chance and the same few people don't get to go to everything while others ALWAYS miss out. I’m not sure if a lot of people know her but the soloist Alexa left her old company Z label. I’m pretty sure she’s independent now but she decided to rebrand as a Serinade/김세리. She said she would be putting out content and such with this new start. However she hasn’t done anything 😭 she barely even promotes her last release Vital Check. Maybe it’s because of the things she went through with her last company and barrier entries into certain areas of the industry but, i feel like she’s better suited as an influencer/Youtuber. Similar to what Kevin from Ukiss is trying to do. All her tweets give kpop stan instead of kpop artist. even her tik tok gives that same feel. lately she’s been talking nonstop about Kpop demon Hunters and doing cosplay and such. which is fine but you’re also an artist?? like i’m genuinely confused on what she’s trying to do. she also has connections to other english speaking kpop idols, I feel like she can try to collab with them for vlogs or something on her channel at least? like it feels like she doesn’t put much of anything into this rebrand. i know she had a lot of struggle with Z label and just the treatment from the industry and international fans but she decided to continue pursuing this career. I've been trying to choose peace over this situation for years because I believed it couldn't get that bad. IT HAS!! Why do so many fans want Kpop artists to look younger? And I'm not talking like "oh their in their twenties young" I mean full on teen or child like young! What kind is this? When has it become a thing and why are so many people in to it? Before you start saying something like "what are you on about🖐🏾🙄" let me give you some recent examples. When Taehyung and Jungkook of BTS returned looking muscular and bulky, so many fans where crashing out and hating on them because "They didn't like their big bodies and wanted them to go back to being smaller and younger looking." Excuse me person but that man is in his thirties wtf are you on???? And it's not just them, the Enhypen group seem to have the worst of it. I saw some crazy lady literally threatening to end that one dudes life because he wasn't like an adult!!! I'm not an Enhypen fan for many reasons, one being their fandom but I've seen multiple clips of them doing everyday adult things and a bunch of kinky, pedophilic humanoids will crash out "because they aren't acting like the kids they are supposed to be"🖐🏾. This has happened to so many other groups that I don't have time to mention but I hope you get the idea. Why are they smothering grown adults with a working job and taxes to pay??
