Hello, I’m currently writing a school research paper on the vote manipulation scandal in Produce 101 and its impact on public trust in reality TV. I created a short anonymous survey to collect opinions from the K-pop community. It would help me a lot in reaching the right audience. 🙏 Thank you so much in advance – I’d be happy to share the final results with you, too! 💜 Josefine Link: forms.gle/8k3rE1JvhKzWnRkk9 submitted by /u/kpopststan [link] [comments]

This post is related to me watching clips of Ahyeon - I don't follow Babymonster closely at all though. This has applied to other idols in the past, though. My point is - I find it hard to actually give a damn if one idol is "overdoing" the dance moves, or "oversinging" or whatever. Yes, theoretically I get the argument of it ruining group cohesion. Only in theory though. In reality, if I'm watching a group performance and I notice one member just popping off - I do not see what I should be mad about. For Ahyeon specifically; she's catching my attention, I enjoy how her moves look, if it overshadows another member I think it's insane to place any malice in that. I'm not even asking the other members to dance "to her level" (of energy) - I do think she probably overdoes it sometimes ('Like That' is one where I've seen her go a bit overboard). But even when she is, the thought that comes to my mind personally is "damn, she's feeling it." Even if you DON'T enjoy watching her, a regular watcher would just think "oh, she looks a bit out of place." And having any reaction more emotional than that is wholly unnecessary and more telling of your personality than the idol's. "She just wants to outshine everyone else" are you okay? I don't pay enough attention to the group but I've also not seen anything compelling to state that she remotely acts like this - and I'm sure that if she did, the company sure as hell wouldn't be happy about it if fans "caught on" so to speak. Making judgements on her personality just because she's doing a bit too much on stage is genuinely hysterical - take a step back if you actually do this. And I also find it slightly telling that this has never become such a huge deal with any male idols, at least not that I've known of in my near 10 years of being a k-pop fan. I think San from ATEEZ probably overdances a bit sometimes, even in comparison to his members who also dance huge and energetically. But no one gets mad. Why would they? He's putting on a show, he's a performer, and he's showing that he's got passion for being on stage. Same for Hyunjin from SKZ on occasion. Thbese are just groups I'm aware of/have been a fan of in the past. Ahyeon isn't really at that level, but watching her makes the performance more memorable, and I come back to her parts despite not really being a fan of her group or their music. Is that not a good thing? She's engaging to a complete non-fan. The amount of "critique" she gets is giving intense misogyny, often internalised. Which is just kinda pathetic. Yes, you can think she's taking away from the cohesion a bit. That is a fair critique. But the amount of discussion this topic has gotten over time (albeit I'm late to the trend and only adding to it) is just crazy to me. What is there to be genuinely mad about? Or to try and critique her as a person? She is a performer and she is performing. It is not remotely that deep. Again, I'm very late to this topic - you don't need to point it out. Just posting because I saw a clip of her from some months back when this was bigger, and had some thoughts because I never really paid attention at the time. As of now it's still a fan theory. But I think they have pretty good explanation for the theory. What do you think of the name? I think it's a name that'll take time to get used to it 😅 submitted by /u/oriverion [link] [comments]

So Xinyu, a Chinese member of TripleS, went on Fromm (the messaging app) and straight up told her fans that Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau all belong to China. This came completely out of the blue, and her fans were understandably shocked. They told her to be more careful with her words and to stop talking about the topic but she doubled down and replied, “Why should I? Did I say something wrong?” Then she added, “Don’t subscribe to me on Fromm if you disagree.” Like… that is a CRAZY thing to say. She was so unapologetic about it, I had to do a double take reading what she wrote. What makes this even more insane is that one of her groupmates is literally Taiwanese. She clearly DGAF. Maybe she doesn’t even interact with her? I mean, it’s a 24-member group, it wouldn’t be shocking if they barely know each other. But that's beside the point. She's still part of the group and if she had any modicum of respect for her groupmate, she would have kept those opinions to herself and not go off like that unprompted. I’ve never seen an idol be this aggressively blunt about taking the “One China” stance. And I certainly didn't expect an idol to say this in 2025. Wtf is she doing?? Did she really think sharing her conviction was no big deal and she'd get away with it scot-free? Is she trying to bring the group down with her? I'm really curious to see how the label's gonna handle this. Whatever ends up happening, she’s just made an enemy out of a lot of people around the world. This article summarizes the situation if you wanna check it out. submitted by /u/Acrobatic_Prize_7749 [link] [comments]
