Everytime MIA by KATSEYE starts playing, I have the same thought that comes to my mind: "damn what is the title of this aespa's song?". It's one of the first time that when listening to one group's song, I can't help myself from thinking that it is sung by another one. There's just something about the rhythm, and the girls' voices, that reminds me of aespa. Especially this part: "No, don't be like this / No, you won't put a leash on a bitch", starting at 0.22". I don't know why, but it sounds like it could be Giselle singing this part! Do you see it too? Or am I the only one getting confused 😅 submitted by /u/coraelie [link] [comments]

Almost all K-POP songs are about love but they rarely barely do love scenes with opposite gender until NewJeans and some 4th gen did. The focus on concept for the fashion and visuals. Some MVs even create some funny or interesting scenes. MVs are no related to their song meaning. I love that. submitted by /u/leonardreignn [link] [comments]
Hello, I am a Conservative Leftist (International Socialist Tendency) in South Korea, I want to make a local Idol in South Korea. I also like Japanese idols too, so I know there are many local idols in Japan. Local Idol means idols who are active in a specific region(s). However Korea has a different sentiment from Japan, the origin of local idols, so K-Local Idols will be active with a Korean sentiment. Also Daegu is a conservative stronghold, but it is pro Western. I think Kpop is too liberal, so I will mainly target the anti-Western Camp and also many conservatives and many KPOP fans too. My local idol will active in Daegu, South Korea. submitted by /u/ProgressiveCCCP [link] [comments]

To preface: This is a positive post! I love kpop, and I have for a long time. I am talking about my experience from seeing it go from 0-100 in the West, and I’d love to know if anybody has had a similar experience. Hello! I’m an old kpop fan (1st/2nd/3rd gen) and I’ve been a fan since I was a kid in high school. When I was in high school, I was teased relentlessly for it. It was around 2010-2015, so before it was really well known in the UK. I had kpop pencil cases, bags and trinkets so people knew what it was through me. The other kids were absolutely befuddled by it. People would call it ‘gay-pop’, say the guys all look like girls, and constantly question why I liked it. One girl even got scissors and cut up my revision card with SHINee on it right before my German speaking exam, just because she hated kpop that much (context: we needed to show images of things we loved). Others would deface my pencil cases by scribbling over the band member’s faces and write nasty things on them. And don’t get me started on the racist remarks, to which I would always defend and dispute. I once drew Taemin in art class as we needed to choose a celebrity we admire to draw, and I don’t even want to repeat some of the things the kids said about him. Since it was before and during Gangnam Style or anything that really brought kpop to the mainstream in the West, it was just such a foreign concept to them. The hatred just felt like such unwarranted overkill. It didn’t affect how much I liked it, I just put up with it because I love kpop and that was never going to change, and never has. Cut to today - kpop is absolutely everywhere. Please don’t get me wrong, I am absolutely elated that kpop has found success in the West. It’s all I ever wanted, because now I can enjoy it with people, and I have been! At work, with friends or out and about, I’m able to chat about kpop and meet awesome people who love the same stuff. It’s awesome. But there’s just this little feeling inside me like ‘Guys, I told you so! I told you it was good, and look at it now! You gave me such a hard time and I was right all along’. Obviously, kids will be kids, but the hatred for kpop back then was incessant, and it wasn’t even a trend to be hated at that time, like Justin Bieber (which the boys all hated lmao). To be honest I’m really glad kids get to enjoy it nowadays without the same amount of teasing, since it’s generally more accepted in the West now. That’s not to say they don’t get teased, but man, I had to put up with so much back then. I’m not salty about anything, and it’s nothing to do with kpop, moreso the growth in audience. I’m just trying process my conflicted feelings, considering I’ve seen it go from 0-100 in terms of love over the years, and I guess I’d feel comforted if somebody has been through similar. I still love kpop, and I’m always so excited to meet new kpop fans so we can enjoy it together. Especially with the new Kpop Demon Hunters film, I’m so happy to see it be a success. But I just want to know, has anybody else experienced anything similar? submitted by /u/lazkqnai [link] [comments]

I’m talking about appearance. I’ve always thought Lisa resembles a young Britney Spears from the late 90s and early 2000s quite a bit, just Asian. I can’t be the only one who thinks this. I’m surprised I haven’t really seen anyone talk about this! submitted by /u/queenwisteria24 [link] [comments]
