I just want to give some appreciation and call attention to NMIXX's Sullyoon, because her vocals have genuinely improved so much And when people say an idol's vocals improved, sometimes there's this assumed implication that they started off bad, but that's definitely NOT the case here. She was already good at debut, but she has simply gotten remarkably better! She sang a duet with Jiwoo on the new Leemujin Service episode and her voice is sounding better than ever. She's developed so much fullness in her tone, and noticeably more ease in the higher notes, like you can see here . That's a C5 at the end there, not an easy note, that's about where a lot of undeveloped singers will start to break apart and sound strained, thin, and unpleasant. But no such issues for today's Sullyoon. She also started to struggle around there in early debut days, but not anymore. I also want to bring attention to this part of the group cover of HER by Block B (such a great fun cover please watch the whole thing). Her tone sounds so rich and full on that line! Debut Sullyoon wasn't sounding like that. She's really like genuinely main vocal level singer now. I can feel the eyes rolling, those of you who aren't familiar with her, because EVERYONE says that about their faves no matter how good they are but. I SWEAR its true this time! You guys have to believe me, she's really that good! submitted by /u/Vast_Implement_8537 [link] [comments]
So recently i see many videos talking about miniskirt by aoa and how it was very "cvnty", and people say why we don't have many songs like this anymore. The comments were full of "because now they're debuting minors" or "bring mature concepts back" NO. First of all member were between 17-24 when miniskirt was released, they were ALSO minors. Kpop companies have been debuting minors, you people just know nothing about 2nd gen and want to use it as a gateway to hate on 4th/5th gen idols, y'all are miserable And a lot of those idols who released "cvnty" music were members who were young girls forced into doing mature concept, some even had to seek therapy after mvs. Here's the truth, most of them didn't want this concept. They were just victims of horny men writing "cvnty" songs for them to perform. One another thing that pisses me off is 2nd gen warriors who bring the idea of 2nd gen being better than other generations up. Babe, no it's not. Literally the most problematic, scandalous, groups full of criminals is not a flex. Yes, nowadays idols might be less talented but i would rather stan "untalented" idols who haven't been involved in crazy scandals rather than idols who can sing averagely but are problematic as hell submitted by /u/Artistic-Network-247 [link] [comments]
So there was a recent thread where some people doubted that BamBam could get that many views that quickly on his latest MV. Now I can't confirm or deny that ads were used because I have no knowledge of that. But anyways, I saw and read through that thread earlier, but didn't watch the MV yet. Today I put it on but didn't pay attention until the end of the MV and when I went - "wait, that's Nychaa!!!" holy crap! Then I remembered people saying something about kissing the actress and then holy shit! Like damn, I was too focused on my work to pay any attention to news these past days, but I'm sure this was all over the local news. Nychaa is one of the most popular actresses here in Thailand and she got cheated on very recently by her previous boyfriend who was another Thai singer. That news was shocking to the whole country. So Nychaa is still kind of still on everyone's mind as the poor girl who got cheated on (and who, by the way, is praised so much for her beauty here.) So having an actual kiss scene in this MV with BamBam and Nychaa is something the whole country would think "OMG I got to see this". There's no wonder it got so many views. And since that time the video now has 53M views. It also has 15K comments MOST of them Thai. I read a lot of them and I can assure you, they are real people commenting. Anyways, this might be a surprise to people outside of Thailand that Thai mvs can get this many views. But actually it is normal and a lot of Thai MVs have 100M+ views. And that is just from Thais listening cause of course the world doesn't know about Thai music as much as K-Pop. To prove my point, here is a list of Thai MVs with 100M+ views. These are all super popular songs that have so many views cause we listen to them a lot. Some of my favs off the top of my head: getsunova - ไกลแค่ไหน คือ ใกล้ - 400M views (official audio) Earth - Sky & Sea - 110M views Palmy - ซ่อนกลิ่น - 208M views violette wautier - อยากรู้หัวใจตัวเอง - 161M views Until we will become dust - 333M views (a performance rather than an MV) Quickly found on YouTube: wonderframe - อยูดีๆก็... - 154M views getsunova - คนไม่จำเป็น - 262M views getsunova - อยู่ตรงนี้ นานกว่านี้ - 173M views wonderframe & pop pongkool - undo - 268M views Most of those examples are old songs cause I don't follow the latest Thai music. But Jeff Satur is a good example of a more recent successful artist: Jeff Satur - ลืมไปแล้วว่าลืมยังไง - 236M views - 3yrs old Jeff Satur - ซ่อน (ไม่) หา l Ghost - 148M views (1yr old) There's just tons more. So anyways, it isn't that strange that BamBam who also has an international following on top of his Thai fans can get such views. submitted by /u/glassy99 [link] [comments]
I have been following their comebacks since SN and this time I was a little shocked how little attention their comeback had especially compared to countdown. The song sound was different compared to their usual releases but it was actually pretty fun. What are your thoughts on it? submitted by /u/Big-Interest-6117 [link] [comments]
i don't usually make post on this becoz i admit ahyeon lacked some technique in past but this is so forced... Recently saw a video of Ahyeon covering "Golden" Radio show on a request, and she is getting so much hate for the vocals for a random cover song.....(well i don't have issue with this cover, she sound good to me) First, it wasn't a big deal, she was asked to sing 'golden' on a radio show, which she never practice or sing before, girl even have to for the lyrics but still for me she do great.....her unique voice might not be everyone's fav but the amount of hate she is getting just for that random cover prove one thing, that ppl who usually say "we are waiting for her improvement, its criticism, she should take" NEVER WAITIED FOR HER.....its not a criticism but purely hate at this point fr, ppl overlooked her improvement from This to THIS (yeah first one went viral you can see views), but very ready to criticize on this cover, atp, it feels she is never allowed to sound bad or make mistakes, or else she will label as 'screaming queen', 'bad vocalist', 'non talented', plus for some reason i see same comments (mot of them are fake sympathy) i wish, just one era, only one, ppl let her breath submitted by /u/Loud-Conference-990 [link] [comments]
Hello, So I'm pretty newish to kpop, I did listen to it causally before and recently have found groups that I really like a lot and I saw Big ocean last Saturday for their pop up event and really liked it so I wanted to get to know more kpop fans in California, I live in Sac so I would want to be more Involved or keep up with events happening in the area and stuff so I'm trying to find a discord like that or in general get recommendations for friendly servers if anyone knows of some submitted by /u/Remarkable-Gift-2517 [link] [comments]
Cortis had their interview on the Zane Lowe show this morning at 9am LA time. I understand that english is not their first language and kpop idols are not expected to be fluent in english. But I just feel like this is another one of those things that HYBE force their young artists to be in high-profile Western media situations theyre not comfortable in and giving them insiffucient preperation. The pacing of the interview was painfully awkward. Zane Lowe would ask a broad, open-ended question, but instead of letting them actually answer, he’d immediately launch into a 45-second monologue to fill the silence. Then Martin would respond with three to four short sentences, and that would be it. The other members barely contributed beyond generic hype lines like “yeah” or mild agreements. James occasionally added a few words, but it was nowhere near substantial. And their answers were really stiff and awkward as well. It often just feels like like they were just stacking adjectives and buzzwords towards Zane and the audience and expecting them to understand. (although we do understand because we kinda follow them online, BUT to the most general public, they have no clue what they're talking about). It feels like they're just giving generic answers that the company gave them prior to the interview. The whole interview was just Zane doing 95% of the talking and Martin doing 4% and James doing 1% Zane also didn't really give as much opportunity for them to talk about their music as well. (i think that's a fault on his part) But I feel like it was also because he was under a lot of pressure because all 5 of them can't speak good english so he was worried that if a question came across really difficult for them, he had to bail them out so he didn't really gave it all and asked insightful questions like he would to a western artist. Also, a lot of times when western artists talk about their music, its from their own elaborations from something that the interviewer asks. This whole interview was just stiff and awkward because they were practically giving 1 generic answer to 1 generic question from Zane while western artists would elaborate a lot from just one open expansive question. When Zane facetimes Teezo, it just turned into a full on Teezo interview and Cortis just went dead silent while Zane was trying to get Teezo to talk more so they could run through some more time on the clock because they can't really give a long answer. Teezo gave a great answer and then Cortis merely gave some sentences jsut to respond I understand that english is not their first language but I feel like this is another one of those HYBE things that they push young artists into environments they're not comfortable with and dont give them enough preparation. I think it’s more of the language barrier that makes it awkward. The interviewers are forced to stick to a level of simplicity in their questions so that non-english speaking members are able to parse together an answer. submitted by /u/Justinandmessi107lox [link] [comments]
I had to think of it when reading of ONEWE's first music show win and had to think back on how they debuted as ONEWE, altho I know they existed as a band before and are existing for about 10 years now. I had to think of how ONEWE mostly got to where they are since Dongmyeong said it was due to his brother Xion who couldn't shut up talking about him to a level that everyone of RBW said they need to meet Dongmyeong now from all what Xion said about him. When Dongmyeong apeared in the building they imediatly liked him so much that he was offered to join RBW and I think Dongmyeong also said that when he said he was in a band so joining RBW would be hard for him, they said he should bring the band and than they got a contract. submitted by /u/Beautiful_Yellow_682 [link] [comments]
.... thanks to a one week school cultural immersion trip I undertook to Seoul nearly a decade ago (May/June 2016). On the second day, me and my classmates visited a random dance studio to learn a choreography - to none other than Bang Bang Bang. Meanwhile, I literally couldn't walk more than a few hundred meters anywhere without hearing Rough being played in a shop for the entirety of my stay. Not that I am complaining though - both songs are very nice! It took me quite a while to find out what these songs were upon my return back to Singapore, but once I did, they were basically all I listened to for weeks. (Honourable mention to PSY's "Daddy" for being the only played-on-repeat-everywhere-in-public K-Pop song I was familiar with at that time.) submitted by /u/RandomCarGuy26 [link] [comments]

This has got to be one of the most overused insults/"criticicisms" of all time. Catchy repetitive choruses and easy listening songs have always been a part of K-Pop and always will be. Not every single one is made just to go Tiktok famous. submitted by /u/SnooOranges829 [link] [comments]
Which opinion will have you like this on reddit specifically. Just as a reminder, Opinions like "blackpink is overrated", "BTS's English trilogy sucks", "newjeans got what they deserved", 'lipsyncing is bad', "streaming culture is ruining fun" etc are all very popular here. I want something new and something controversial. Let me start- Its very possible for real people to queer-bait. The reason is that they just displaying a persona and most of the times, what they show us on camera is very different from their actual selves. They are forced to play a role the company gives them. submitted by /u/Odd_Entertainer9554 [link] [comments]
