I think the label of maknae as an official position is ridiculous. You’re the youngest? Great. Here’s a cookie and a glass of warm milk to go with it. It becomes a bit of a trap and pigeonhole even as idols grow into their mid-20s and older. How does being the maknae help as a singer or dancer? I know age is a huge deal in Korea and I understand its benefit in a debut cute concept or era, but how long does cute last before it turns cringe? How long are we expected to think ‘maknae on top’ behavior is funny and not bratty or lowkey rude? Do or will you seriously care who’s the youngest in a 7+ year old group? I’m grateful the maknaes in my groups have grown actual personalities, talent, and auras outside their birth order because I’m seeing other group maknaes cannot relate and once they hit 25 (if they haven’t already) they’ll just be the youngest member for as long as their groups are together. Let me know your answers to the question and shoutout the maknaes who are bigger and more than their ages. I’ll start first with Jungkook, Hwasa, and Tzuyu. And I am not a shawol, but Taemin is absolute king. I can’t imagine referring to him as just maknae after his Move and Guilty eras. submitted by /u/Royal_Law_3130 [link] [comments]

BABYMONSTER So far they’ve got two legit hits: Sheesh (#8) and Drip (#11). Both did really well domestically. Their album sales are high, Spotify numbers strong, and their tour is successfull. Overall they’re showing solid growth + consistency. Hot Sauce was underwhelming, but honestly I’d wait for their first full album before judging too much. ILLIT Magnetic was HUGE (#1) — one of the biggest 5th gen moments. But the problem is consistency… Cheerish fell off hard(#36), but their recent cb Do The Dance (#18) was a solid cb and did better both domestically + globally. Album sales are solid, they can go way higher. Kiss of Life Discography-wise, they’re solid. Midas Touch (peak ~30s), Igloo (peak #37), and Sticky (peak #3) is a major hits, and they already have three songs that crossed 100M on Spotify. Their latest comeback underperformed but they still deserving Top 3 spot for me. Hearts2Hearts Really consistent growth. Not mega-hits, but both songs did well, The Chase (#26) and Style (#21) actually improved despite minimal promo. Their domestic charting is decent, Spotify streams healthy, and album sales are really strong. If their next cb pops off, they could sneak into my Top 3. Meovv Their debut and early comebacks were underwhelming digitally: Meovv (peak #50), Toxic and Body didn’t even enter Top 100. But honestly, I blame bad promo strategy. But Hands Up turned things around much better performance and promo. Still, their weak debut run keeps them below H2H for now. The real deal will be their next comeback. Honorable Mention – 6. KiiiKiii Debuted strong with I Do Me (#10) + solid album sales, but Dancing Alone not entering Top 100. Not that strong globally (Spotify), but the potential’s there. submitted by /u/matt_vaghn [link] [comments]

So I was scrolling through my photos and found one I had taken back in April. That was the time the purple fragrance had just been released and joined the chance lineup, which is hilarious because yeri also got added to RV after than the other 4 members. Seeing all those perfumes together reminded me so much of red velvet’s summer concept. I mean, the colours match their fruits!! That made the purple one (grape for yeri) joining the lineup late all that much more special and cool. Thought it would be cool to share this on reddit, even if I’m like 4 months late lol submitted by /u/redlipstick1010 [link] [comments]
