Articles / Timeline 250422 This day marks one year since HYBE launched their audit of Min Hee Jin and ADOR's management. Happy(?) 1st anniversary of the Megathreads! 250502 The 3rd hearing for Min Hee Jin vs. Belift Lab was set to take place but postponed to July 18th at Belift Lab's request. Each side is due to present their arguments/documents regarding plagiarism issues at the next meeting. (Source: Maeil Kyungjae) 250530 We learned that ADOR had filed for 'indirect enforcement' after their injunction was granted and NewJeans performed at ComplexCon back in March (Filed on April 4th according to the statement from NewJeans' representatives linked below). On the 30th, the 52nd Division of the Seoul Central District court further granted this request. The 'indirect enforcement' ruling means that each individual member of NewJeans will be fined 1 billion won (approx. $725,000) if they continue with entertainment activities independent of ADOR, which would be in violation of the injunction. This enforcement with potential fines does NOT apply to any of NewJeans' independent activities between the granting of the injunction and the granting of this 'indirect enforcement'. These fines will only apply to future activities going forward, or at least until rulings with NewJeans' appeal or the main contract validity case changes anything (next hearing on June 5th). (Source: Chosun Biz, MK Sports) The Korea Herald: Court orders NewJeans to pay Ador 1 billion won for each unauthorized activity Discussion Post Korea JoongAng Daily: Court orders NewJeans members to pay ADOR $725,600 for every independent entertainment activity A statement by NewJeans' representatives was made later in the day primarily acknowledging the indirect enforcement ruling, but reiterating that it is temporary and will no longer have an effect if NewJeans win their appeal of the injunction. (Source: Ilgan Sports) The 2nd hearing for Source Music's damages lawsuit against Min Hee Jin took place at the 12th Civil Affairs Division of the Seoul Western District Court. (Quick recap: 1st was January 10th, 2nd was previously scheduled for March 14th, postponed per Source Music's request). Legal representatives were present. Source Music had a 20-minute presentation prepared, but Min Hee Jin's representatives objected to the inclusion of KakaoTalk messages in the presentation. They claimed the messages were illegally obtained and requested the hearing to be closed/private. Source Music denied the messages were obtained illegally, claiming they were gained from company devices with consent. The court went with a temporary compromise to keep the hearing public, but not allow discussion/display of the messages until they were reviewed again. A special hearing to review the messages will take place June 27th. (Source: Sports Today) 250605 The Seoul Central District Court Division 41 held the second hearing for ADOR seeking confirmation of validity for their exclusive contract with NewJeans. Only legal representatives were in attendance. NewJeans' side primarily argued that ADOR had not met their obligations and that their evidence they were preparing to support NewJeans' activities, like finding a new producer, was inadequate. ADOR's side argued that NewJeans' reasons for allegedly terminating their contract continually changed, indicating they are arbitrary and being made up with retroactive hindsight. The issue of some evidence being collected illegally also came up again from NewJeans' side. Judge Jung Hoe-Il specifically inquired if both/either sides were willing to come to an agreement, encouraging them to do so. NewJeans' representatives strongly indicated this was unlikely as the trust in ADOR had completely collapsed. ADOR's representatives indicated they could see negotiating an agreement once the court comes to a final decision. The 3rd hearing was set for July 24th. (Sources: X Sport News, Maeil Kyungjae) 250612 The next hearing regarding the Shareholder Agreement termination and exercising put/call options lawsuits between HYBE and Min Hee Jin was held at the Seoul Central District Court's 31st Division. Arguments from each side mostly re-tread what we've already covered. HYBE's side argued they were justified in ending the shareholder agreement due to the threat Min Hee Jin posed to the company. Min Hee Hin's side argued the timing of the audit/termination did not align purely with that concern and that some KakaoTalk messages and emails were obtained illegally and not admissable as evidence. HYBE also indicated they had a witness to give testimony at the next meeting, which the court accepted. The next hearing with closing arguments, was set for September 11th for both lawsuits. (Sources: Maeil Kyungjae, TV Daily, Sports Today) 250617 Following up from April 16th when NewJeans appealed the court's decision to uphold the injunction and halt on their independent activities, the Seoul High Court reaffirmed the earlier decision. The court rejected NewJeans' appeal. They determined there was no significant change in the material/arguments presented for the appeal and the original decision to grant ADOR's injunction was justified. There was further clarification that the management conflict between HYBE and Min Hee Jin, and her no longer being NewJeans' producer, did not constitute a valid argument for the alleged collapse of trust between ADOR and NewJeans. The group's withdrawal from ADOR is considered arbitrary, that their artistic freedom or activity is not impeded since they are able to do so within their exclusive contract, and that any damages resulting from attempting independent activities are self-inflicted. Does anyone else feel like K-pop is moving on from hyper-polished idols to favoring more "out-of-the-box" groups? For years it was all about hyper-polish, perfectly synchronized choreo, perfectly proportioned visuals. But lately the public seems to be tired of that, and craving authenticity and rawness instead. Groups like ADP, KATSEYE, XLOV, and Cortis are blowing up for a reason - because they feel less manufactured and more “real.” Right now it seems like the groups and companies taking risks, not debuting carbon copies, not hyper-focusing on visuals or synchronization, are the ones reaping the benefits. The public seems more open to idols just being themselves rather than sticking to the template. We've been there and done that, that formula just isn’t going to work anymore. And I think in the grand scheme of things, this is a GOOD thing. Does anyone else feel the same? Or do you think it’s different? submitted by /u/Special-Ad6201 [link] [comments]
┏━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┓ As September wraps up and October approaches, I hope everyone is doing well. My week was pretty good, as I’ve been listening to both new and old things I haven’t heard in a while. I also did some reflection this week since we only have three more months left in the year. I was also surprised when Twice announced a Special album for October, which I can’t wait to check out. I hope the year has been going well for you all, and let’s jump into the music and see what the artists delivered this week. ┗━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┛ https://preview.redd.it/73rbwlknuqrf1.jpg?width=1536&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e970ca3397bbccac0e98eb0dd0a619daf86cfb27 Other Korean Releases of the Week: September 22nd Head Shoulders Knees Toes - tws tws is back with a new single called Head Shoulders Knees Toes. The track goes for this synth-trap beat that blends with the group's strong performance. The hook has been growing on me over the week as I’ve been returning to it a few times. The vocals are smooth, blending wonderfully with the instrumental. The rapping is pretty decent, flowing with the vibe the producers crafted. The bridge is one of my favorite parts as the vocals slay before the final hook comes back into the mix with its strong vibe. https://preview.redd.it/yiovz2cavqrf1.jpg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8748d95ed9be2ac5e58b7830339a399bd5d2c71a ━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━ September 24th Pretty Please - Hearts2Hearts SM Entertainment group Hearts2Hearts dropped a pre-release single for their first mini album, coming out in October. I’ve enjoyed the group's 3 songs they have released since their debut, but I will say all of them feel a bit different. Pretty Please feels like an R&B throwback to a time when SM was using R&B-pop tunes for their groups. The instrumental reminds me of something out of 1st gen Kpop as I could see S.E.S performing this one. The sweet vocals blend with the instrumental as it’s been growing on me the more I return to it. The hook continues to grow on me the more I hear it, and I feel like it will be on to get stuck in my head. a-na and juun deliver a rap in this tune that adds to the overall vibe of the mix. As the final chorus comes into the mix, the members deliver some killer vocal notes that hit me with each listen. As I listen to this tune it. https://preview.redd.it/8mtc5q6ovqrf1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6e037bc9309cf45018a8846b22d3ff54a5fa33c8 ━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━ Awake - Yerin Since Gfriend disbanded, Yerin has explored various musical styles and companies as she navigates life as a solo artist. Yerin has a soft, sweet voice that works well with the guitars that craft this pop-rock vibe we’ve heard many times before. It feels like Yerin is hopping on a trend since I’ve been hearing a lot of rock-inspired tunes. I don’t dislike this tune, but I find it a little forgettable after you listen to it. The hook is pretty average, not doing much to pull me back for more. I wish the instrumental did a bit more instead of sounding like bare bones with its overall vibe. I find the other songs that Yerin has released to be a bit better than her new one Awake. https://preview.redd.it/2o3xq8j0wqrf1.jpg?width=261&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=102ad9943f329bb83044468d93a6ad434cd16309 ━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━ Non-Korean Releases of the Week: Bah Humbug - Pentatonix Pentatonix announced this week that they will be dropping a new Christmas album on October 24th. I wish it were an album full of originals, non-Christmas music, but I’ll take any new music over no music. This new pre-release is a retelling of the Christmas Carol. The group's arrangement sounds theatrical, letting each member have a chance to shine. Kevin’s Beatboxing throughout the track helps bring the song to life, feeling like it came right off Broadway. Scott is the first one to sing, and his deep tone fits the arrangement like crazy. The hook has been getting stuck in my head like crazy since I first heard it this week. Matt and Kirstin fit perfectly with the vibe as each member delivers some smooth notes. One of my favorite moments is the harmonies where Mitch hits a high note that pulls me back for more. Even though I wasn’t excited for a new Christmas album, Bah Humbug got me curious to see what they're going to do this time around with this new album. https://preview.redd.it/pc4jnrijwqrf1.jpg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1ebc20868d4b822ff8bd038b03eaec277818e0fa ━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━ Blink (feat. TZUYU) - Corbyn Besson Twice member Tzuyu teams up with Corbyn Besson for a collaboration, earning co-production credits. I don’t know who Corbyn Besson is, but he seems to fit perfectly with Tzuyu. Corbyn fits wonderfully with this funky beat that has been stuck in my head like crazy. Tzuyu delivers smooth vocals during the hook, which is another catchy moment in the song. I will also say Tzuyu saying Shit in the hook wasn’t my bingo card this year, but I don’t mind it at all. I wish Tzuyu got a verse, but with her only getting a chorus, I’m not upset at all since she performs that one excellently. I wasn’t sure I would like this collab, but it hits hard and is one that I’ll be having on repeat like crazy. https://preview.redd.it/fany8qtuwqrf1.jpg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7b24ae1e986768e539a2d61ac65752c72fea1fc6 ━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━ Weekly Lastfm Roundup (September 19th - September 25th) Artist: Twice https://preview.redd.it/zgw77g13xqrf1.jpg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5b21583c0b472526b5e5d9026a725648d3f7ae58 ━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━ Album: LIL FANTASY vol.1 - Chaeyoung https://preview.redd.it/aukjh7n7xqrf1.jpg?width=2312&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b510de4d3c9b09d91b4a5c8efa798f7efa2787a0 ━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━ Song: AVOCADO (feat. I am aware that this is an unpopular opinion, but I will still write it. BTW before you read this, please be aware that I am not trying to bring any hate to Iroha or the members from Aespa. Lately Iroha has sent a video of her dancing to Rich Man (by Aespa), which ended up being used to criticize and hate against Aespa, solely bc of one poor performance on the US channel (forgot the name). People began to say that Aespa's poor performance wasn't bc of low quality light or lack of background dancers, since Iroha danced it with more energy and professionalism, despite no background dancers and no good lighting. I'm kind of perplexed and annoyed which is why I'm writing this. And again, no hate to Aespa or Iroha. But why would you post a video of you dancing to a song that the main kpop group is already being criticized and hated for poorly dancing to? I'm a bit curious. I heard that Iroha sometimes, if not often, dances to dance challenges and all of that, but dancing to Rich Man is like saying "Hey, I can dance it better than them" while most likely knowing that they're already being criticized for the poor performance. It might have been better to post that video of her dancing to that song on a different time than now, bc of the hate and criticism Aespa is receiving. And also, why are people so overly analyzing and being so damn rude about that one performance from Aespa? Like, yes, let them be aware of it, but there is literally no need to be so damn deep and complicated about it. Let's put Aespa and Iroha out of this now. Why would people (and probably you too if you did so too) post such comments? “Giselle never beating the uncoordinated member allegations I’m cryingggg” “See the prblm was never the choreo it was the girls who cant dance.” “Iroha be like : This is how you do it (WITHOUT ANY BACKUP DANCERS AND CAMERA WORK) and mys will point out ‘Iroha is not singing’ did aespa sing? ohh just lip sync.” People can be vicious for clout, but half of these “hate takes” aren’t even about skill, they’re about nitpicking and exaggerating. Saying “the problem was never the choreo, it was the girls who can’t dance” is lazy hate: if aespa were truly talentless, they wouldn’t even be where they are. And comparing Iroha’s solo clip to a full aespa stage with different context is just disingenuous, of course one looks cleaner when it’s stripped down. The “backup dancers and camera work” line? Every group uses those: pretending aespa is the only one is selective blindness. And let’s be real “Who the fuck choreographed this” sounds bold, but it’s just blaming the girls for something that’s usually a company decision. So yeah, the comments are ruthless, but they expose more about the bitterness and double standards of K-pop fans than about aespa or Iroha’s actual talent. What are your thoughts about this? I'd like to read your opinion (if it's not about hating aespa bc of that one performance). ♡♡♡ submitted by /u/Own-Street5154 [link] [comments]

I find it weird that an enhypen member would dance to a newjeans song, given the situation that group put Illit and belift lab in. False claims about belift and illit were made in press conferences, open court hearings, live streams, internal complaints etc by newjeans members, resulting in staff members and idols getting a mental health break or quitting the job. From what we know, it's usually idols who request the song they want to do a dance for, which is then accepted by the staff member responsible for managing the account. The comment section is obviously flooded with newjeans stans and enhypen&newjeans stans hyping the video, saying 'njz never dies' and suggesting that sunghoon is showing his support to nj, since it's also not the first time he chose/took on an nj song for a tiktok challenge. "It's just a tiktok challenge, it means nothing" is obviously one way of looking at it. However it's hard to not notice that the song is a newjeans' remix and like I said often it's idols who choose the tiktok challenge for themselves. Even though I doubt that this is a sign of support, it's just careless to do sth like that when damage lawsuit against nj 6th member is ongoing, the other case involving blatant lies about illit is not concluded and illit and enhypen often attend events together. I don't expect enhypen to stand against nj or anything like that, but the bare minimum would be to not promote their songs on tt. https://preview.redd.it/2cu3yjyvjqrf1.png?width=484&format=png&auto=webp&s=f5340a693f99f195c177e801b0e5adc919e25f77 submitted by /u/pitero2137 [link] [comments]
