Has anyone ever felt Deja Vu when hearing "Lucky Girl Syndrome"? My sister felt it too, like we might have heard the first piece of the song somewhere. Does someone have any idea about it? submitted by /u/FlopffyGrape [link] [comments]

The winner of day 2 part 2 was... IVE (/Iz*One) Wonyoung! This makes her the second member of our group! Today is day 3 part 1 which means the question today is.... who is your CURRENT ult bias? Once again boy group idols, girl group idols, and soloists are allowed. 𑁍𑁍𑁍 ❥︎ Group Name: Twice ❥︎ Members: Felix, Wonyoung, ??, ??, ??, ??, ??, ??, ??, ?? ❥︎ Pre-Debute song: ?? ❥︎ Debute Song: ?? ❥︎ Special Collab: ?? ❥︎ First Album: ?? 𑁍𑁍𑁍 INFO/RULES: ✈Due to people downvoting everyone's comments.. if you want your vote to definitely count make sure to comment your idol, as well as upvoting comments from others that mention them!! ✈︎I do my best to check this through out the day so I can see who's being downvoted and not count the downvotes but I obviously can't soend 24 hours on Reddit so if I miss any votes or make any mistakes I do apologise. ✈Days where idols are chosen will be repeated so we will end up with 10 members in total at the end. Please only choose one idol to comment otherwise your comments won't count. Also if you comment the same idol multiple times only one comment counts, this will be the one I see first and also means votes on your other comments are not counted. This is purely to try and make it fair for everyone who wants there idol to be picked! Every idol also automatically gets 1 vote from myself! submitted by /u/xunyomi [link] [comments]
There needs to stop being so much hate on a male idol making a dance more masculine. First off they could have been taught that way and secondly they might not feel comfortable dancing more feminine. Yes there are male idols that are very comfortable dancing that way, such as Changbin, but not everyone is. Why did Jay get hate for dancing with Katseye, it makes no sense. In the grand scheme it not not a big deal, just as if a female idol feminizes a boy group dance. Just let people dance how they want to. Dance challenges are supposed to be fun and not about if they do a dance perfectly or the way you want them to. submitted by /u/ExoticResident7359 [link] [comments]
I didn’t really know what to put as a flair for this but it’s basically a story. I’ve liked a K-pop group for some time now. Before I even knew who they were, I knew their songs and enjoyed them, and after some time, I really got to know that their music is very much my style. I was scared that my mom would hate me for liking a group, but I managed to get tickets to a concert and she said nothing about it. In fact, she actually seemed somewhat interested in who they were, so I would talk about them periodically. Somehow, this one time, when I just show her some funny video of one of them being scared by a bug, she just burst. She was yelling about how much she despises men like that who “scream like little girls” when they see something (and they really just slightly jumped and stepped back). She told that she was keeping quiet because she believed I was someone who sxualizes idols and only likes their looks, when I had never even remotely said something that goes along with her description of my behavior. In fact, I’m very much against the sxualization of idols because, in the root of it all, they’re artists, and artists should be praised for their works. She also said that if a grown man acts cute on stage that it’s all fake and that if they act like that, they are p*dos because they are “attracting little kids on purpose”… Yes, I’m a minor and, no, I’m not saying my exact age, but I’m not one of those little 10 y/o kids who like to revolve their lives around K-pop. I don’t know why, but this really changed my perspective on my mom. Like, a lot… I thought she would ignore at worst but I didn’t expect a full on meltdown over an idol being scared of a bug. I absolutely can’t agree with her hasty generalizations on idols considering the precautions that idols make to be sure that they act appropriately for the age of fans. I tried to explain that I like their music very much and have liked it before I knew their faces, but she calls them shallow excuses that I should never make for men. I really don’t know what I should do at this point. I’m kind of scared to share what I like to her now. I’m sorry about how long this is.. I’m also very sorry if this is against the rules. I just wanted to dump my thoughts into this to fully digest what just happened to me. Added mild censorship just in case. submitted by /u/SupermarketOk9689 [link] [comments]

Been looking for new people to talk kpop with since my discord server went inactive and would love to make some new friends in the space. submitted by /u/One_Remove_4713 [link] [comments]
i'm not trying to be racist or anything and i understand that some kpop idols are actually that pale. but i was looking at videos of 2nd and 3rd gen performances and you could see their natural tan skin tone. i feel like nowadays everyone is so pale and it just doesn't feel right. kpop idols being their natural skin tones makes them feel like actual people and relate to us. it's all about being perfect and having the fairest skin now and its so meh. anyway submitted by /u/Then-Warning-9337 [link] [comments]

Kpop visuals often get unfairly criticized for lacking talent, so I'm curious - who are your favorite visuals that also happen to be great vocalists? They can be official or unofficial visuals. Please drop a performance video too and tell us what you like about their voice! It'd be great to discover some more vocalists, whether they're from the Big4 or from smaller companies :) Here are a couple that come to mind for me: Nmixx Sullyoon - Love the tone of her voice. So rich NCT WayV Xiaojun - This man sings with his whole heart. I feel like most people have already heard his Celine Dion Ashes cover, so here's another great cover. SM please give him an OST Xdinary Heroes Jooyeon - Apparently he's the first and only 4th gen male idol to win the 3 rounds of The Masked Singer and you can see why lol. He has such a powerful voice submitted by /u/rnbgal [link] [comments]

Hi, so recently I’ve been seeing a lot of TikTok videos where K-pop fans are hating on groups for singing about things like money, magical girl concepts, etc. Examples include Allday being criticized for their song about being rich and famous, with people saying it's insensitive because others are struggling to find jobs. Another example is illit, who are being judged for having a magical girl concept, with some saying it's not "groundbreaking" enough. My question is: why are Western fans getting mad at K-pop groups for putting out this kind of music, but not at Western artists who do the same thing? Is it just me, or are we unfairly criticizing K-pop groups for singing about these topics? I’m honestly just confused. Personally, I don’t think it’s fair. I see K-pop on the same level as Western music—there are different genres and styles, and if you don’t like something, just don’t listen or comment. Don’t expect them to change just to fit your taste. Example like Drake and Taylor Swift are going to have different styles and I viewed it the same as groups like illit, Allday, TWICE, or BLACKPINK. No song is inherently bad—it all comes down to personal taste. For example, some people think “Gnarly” is bad, while others enjoy it. At the end of the day, it’s subjective. submitted by /u/whyx_notx [link] [comments]
wayv's new album teaser (today) xdinary heroes' junhan this week ALLDAY Tarzzan (right) yesterday you'd think companies, with so many trying to build fanbases in the west, would at least give it a rest for a bit after the KIOF live and general n-word train going around in March, but no, this week is another part of the never ending series of kpop companies/idols making themselves look foolish to black kpop fans, the general western public, and pretty much everyone who understands how this is disrespectful. submitted by /u/Interesting-Cycle381 [link] [comments]
The girls are genuinely so lovely it kinda hurts to see that they've noticed their careers wavering for nearly 3 years when they deserve so much more. It's not about the music anymore, they've just lost gp interest. If it WAS about music, they would have gained a million times more popularity during untouchable's promotion when they released born to be because everyone wanted Wannabe 2.0 and untouchable was literally that. They also got None of my business in 2023 when people were drooling over relaxing, summer vibe songs. They got Mr. Vampire with focus on vocals which is what so many people were asking Itzy to focus on. They got Born to Be, which gave them a chance to show off their dance skills, which is what people were saying the girls were lacking with previous releases. But it was all slept on and ignored. I swear imaginary friend received so much love, but for some reason it wasn't very successful? And even though people disliked GWBG, they promoted Kiss and Tell (a song very reminiscent of their viral song, 'shoot') but that got barely anyone's attention despite being the kind of song a lot of people actually claim to want from them lol However, I think the biggest problem of Itzy is actually MIDZYS. One of their producers got annoyed on instagram because of people's divisions on what they want from the girls. Midzys are divided on the type of songs they want Itzy to have (upbeat and bright, badass or mature). Itzy always end up promoting a billion songs (hyperbole, it's usually only 2 lmao) on music shows every comeback with different styles. (NOMB/CAKE, MR.VAMPIRE/BTB/UNTOUCHABLE, GOLD/IMAGINARY FRIEND, GWBG/KISS AND TELL). Basically, Itzy can never win as the gp AND 'fans' will shit on their songs either way and it pressurises both the next producers and the girls themselves to decide on a titletrack. Iirc, Itzy went through 55 choices before settling on GWBG. Sorry for the rant, but it hurts seeing my ults of nearly 7 years being treated like dust when they clearly try so hard and have never slacked off a DAY in their career 😔 submitted by /u/Gold_Meaning3688 [link] [comments]
