I believe this is a global problem that doesn't exclusively concern K-pop, but I've gotten so tired of people being chill with sexy boy group concepts and going so far as to fantasize about the members' sex lives, their sizes, etc., and yet forcing purity culture upon girl groups, because God forbid ADULT WOMEN also want to have a sexy concept. I think both attitudes are equally as extreme and wrong, and I wish there was a balance. submitted by /u/ts88kd [link] [comments]
Hello everyone, I watched Kpop Demon Hunter recently, and I'm still confused by one thing: why did Jinu fall in love with Rumi? Like, I understand that there was a certain chemistry between them, that's not the problem. But we saw almost nothing of their relationship. They've barely spoken to each other, and suddenly they're singing a deep love song, as if they're the only ones who truly understand each other? And then he's ready to die for her?? In short, if anyone has a theory or a different reading, I’m all ears! Maybe I missed something, but I find that their love story comes a little out of nowhere. Thank you 🙏 submitted by /u/Awkward-Future3958 [link] [comments]

I'm talking about the international sphere more than Korean one with this one. When kpop first started gaining popularity internationally everyone loved to hear the success story of how someone from an impoverished background could find success through hard work and become a superstar overnight, it was a classic rags to riches story that has gained sympathy for many a idol. Through the years that has changed and idol industry became overrun with rich kids that always had a family wealth to fall back on in case being an idol didn't work out for them or they simply got bored of it. Allday Project feels like the final step in what can only be described as gentrification of kpop. There's little appeal on supporting a new group when people in it have made it already or in the case of Annie Moon since their birth. That's reflected in their sales too, their music has an appeal but there's no realistic reason to be bulk buying albums when it doesn't feel like the group needs a monetary support. That said I can see that changing if they play their cards right, kpop fans have somewhat of a herd mentality and they like to be a part of the collective especially if what they support is popular and succesful since they seem to conflate the success of the group with their own. submitted by /u/Lilac_Bloom_ [link] [comments]

I was honestly peer pressured to watch it. For some background I’m an oldie Kpop fan, semi retired. I mostly just listen to it now because I started at 12 (25 now) so I went more of my life knowing Kpop. I was initially hesitant since I didn’t wanna watch something that glorifies the industry. I couldn’t put my finger onto it but I kinda got it now. I know it’s a kid’s movie but I wish they shone light on how toxic Kpop industry is like especially since Kpop is so global and more kids wanna be an idol. It was a perfect opportunity too, like why can’t the demon actually be the execs not just a boygroup that poofed into the industry. Seeing the girls eat to their hearts content, have their own freedom writing their own songs, choosing when to release it, those aren’t something Kpop groups have the luxury of doing. The industry is so exploitative. I wanted something that would tackle kpop to actually show that. I know it’s probably gonna be a deeper storyline, something outside the kpop industry wouldn’t understand and I know it’s also a kid’s movie so it might’ve not been the most appropriate but I’m sure a talented writer could pull it off. Seeing how much traction it has too, I really do wish it was brought into light. submitted by /u/Secret-Difficulty417 [link] [comments]

We hear it all the time: “I love you guys so much.” “You’re my everything.” “Without you, I’m nothing.” It sounds beautiful. Emotional. Special. But lately, I’ve been wondering... are we expecting too much? Think about it: idols don’t know most of us. They’ve never met us. And yet we expect them to express deep love, sometimes daily, or risk being seen as “cold,” “ungrateful,” or “too distant.” But what if… they don’t love us? What if they respect us, appreciate us, and care about our support but don’t feel a deep personal affection toward people they’ve never actually met? And what if that’s perfectly reasonable? Imagine having to say “I love you” every night to thousands of strangers and mean it. Imagine being nineteen, exhausted, emotional, homesick, and still expected to show “sincere affection” for fans at all times. Idols are often judged more on how much they feel than how much they perform. But emotions aren’t always easy. Or available. Or real. Sometimes it’s just a job. A dream job, yes, but still a job. I’m not saying idols are cold or heartless. Many of them probably do feel real affection especially when fans support them during tough times. But expecting every idol to feel emotional intimacy toward millions of fans constantly… is that really fair? No regular person is expected to maintain that level of emotional output so why do we demand it from idols? Do you think it’s okay for an idol to not feel love toward their fans, even if they’re grateful? Should idols be allowed to say “thank you” instead of “I love you,” without getting backlash? Are we projecting our need for emotional connection onto them? I think appreciation is enough. Gratitude is enough. We don’t need to be their everything. We just need to let them be human. submitted by /u/Seesawey [link] [comments]
First off, huge shout-out to everyone that contributed to this masterpiece. It was amazing! Concept trailers have always been something TXT does well and their team always delivers! Bighit recently posted a compilation of all their concept trailers and I was just awed watching it. Soobin said recently that, watching the compilation of the past concept trailers made him teary because he could see how much TXT had grown and I agree Ahead of this album, they told us to be prepared that it is going to be a really meaningful album and that we might need to go back to their previous videos to catch up on the lore. That already told us that this comeback could be lore heavy which was good news because we haven’t had many lore videos in a while. To be honest, I'm not too well versed with the lore but I do know much of it was present in their early music videos (particularly Nap of a Star MV) along with their Star Seekers Webtoon and it involves friendship, them saving, healing, sacrificing for each other and going through the phase of youth together The concept trailer for this album draws references from many of their past MVs and it also ties their lore together. This album will be the final part of the Star Chapter series and in a lot of ways, it will serve as the final chapter of TXT as they enter a new one with their 7th year and contract renewals. So the whole thing just feels so nostalgic and magical. The concept trailer itself is so beautiful! The storytelling, the styling, the visuals, everything about it was so beautiful. The video included a new song, which will be one of the new songs on the album and the lyrics are beautiful as well. The trailer ends with the line "let's move on to tomorrow, together as well" and that in itself almost made me cry. All of TXT have said that this album is really special to them and that they and their team cried when they watched this concept trailer. Check out the trailer if you can and also tune in to TXT's album on the 21st of July! For those who have watched it? What were your thoughts on it? You can share all your thoughts, theories and predictions here🫶 Edit: Beomgyu just said this about the concept trailer on weverse DM "In the end, the five of them, who had their own scars, came together and covered each other’s pain, moving forward. It’s a story that wouldn’t have been possible with even one person missing. It’s the reason we’re together" 😭😭😭 submitted by /u/ilovemeeeeee [link] [comments]
Sorry, I'm just bored. Here is everything I remember: Shotaro (RiiZE) is friends with a few JPop idols as like Keigo & Shosei (JO1) or Keito (FANTASTICS). I remember some people saying that he is apparently closest with Keito and both used to DM eachother all the time via their personal Insta accounts, but it broke apparently Keito's heart back when SM deleted Shotaro's first insta cause Keito had no idea how to contact Shotaro in another way. I think Shotaro is friends with them since they been to the same dance class as kids Kazuta (n.SSign) is friends with Fuma (&TEAM) and Kokoro (PSYCHIC FEVER). Yuto (who was in PENTAGON) is friends with Shogo (INI). Apparently Yuto was feeling lonly in Korea without anyone Japanese around so oneday he was told there was a new trainee from Japan and acording to Shogo he was not even fully in the building and already overrun by Yuto who was excited to meet him. Shogo said even if he was too busy, Yuto always came to him and wanted to talk. In 2023 Yuto called Shogo telling him he felt lonly in Korea and wanted to meet Shogo again so they both went to meet in the middle and met on Jeju island where they than documented a 2 week long hiking trip on video Yuta (NCT) is friends with Ryoki (BE:FIRST). Both first ever met on the filmset to a movie they both acted in and became close friends imediatly. Oneday Yuta was asked in an interview on a Korean radio station what made him start to wear the same ring all the time and he revealed he was buying it together with Ryoki so both would have the same friendship-rings and thats why he was always wearing it. Hongki (FTisland) is friends with Taka (ONE ROCK). He always wanted to have a Japanese friend and is a fan of ONE OK ROCK so oneday on a festival where he met Taka he asked him to be friends and since Taka likes to meet new people and has a habit of not being able to say no he accepted the request. Years later Taka got asked how his friendship with Hongki was going and Taka said "Actually I didn't even knew who he was at the time and looked him up cause I was thinking, ok some random dude who is Korean. I had no clue he was also in a band. To be honest, I never interacted with him ever again after that day. But if it makes him happy to be able to claim me as his friend, than good for him I guess" Soul (P1harmony) is friend with Shion (JO1). According to Shion when both had been trainees at FNC, he was unable to speak to anyone other than a few Japanese trainees cause he spoke no Korean. FNC than decided instead of hiring a language teacher, to go to Soul who was a little kid at the time and say "since you are half Japanese, you can teach the Japanese trainees to learn Korean" which apparently failed and so all Japanese trainees got send back home. Shion said when he returned to Japan he called Soul on his phone daily, but since calling to Korea was expensive he stoped doing it oneday cause he noticed how his phonebill exploded from calling Soul so often. Ash Island and Chanmina became friends after Chanmina was looking for someone from Korea to collab with and liked the vibe she had with him while producing music together. Not even a year later they became a couple and 2 years into their realationship had been married and also have a baby daughter together now. Give me more things if you have anything like that :3 submitted by /u/Beautiful_Yellow_682 [link] [comments]
Youngseo said this during the ZIP Daesung variety show. I thought it was hilarious. Co-ed group was really a big surprise. When I first joined the company they said, "We want to work with you" but they couldn't tell me anything about the team because of confidentiality. They just said, "It's not a girl group". Am I... debuting as an Al singer or something? "There's this really cool team and once you join it'll finally be complete." submitted by /u/DiMpLe_dolL003 [link] [comments]
Truly, being into TXT is such an experience. The lore, the creative direction, the passion, the dedication, the beauty, their unique color that they've maintained all these years. I fear this album may truly be a piece of art that'll be pivotal in their career. The costume design, the nostalgia, the call backs to all their lore, its all so heartfelt. If you're looking for a group with an extensive lore and beautiful art direction.. You like story books, fairytales, adventures, coming of age, stories of adolescence and the ills that come with it, youth and maturing then TXT is your group. Please check them out! submitted by /u/Nynasa [link] [comments]
I'm so excited to see what this group will have, the visuals it's just amazing, but i'm also worried because, what if this boy group goes through the same thing as newjeans? I hope they don't go through any kind of bad situation (even though we know that hybe is good at it 💀) Yeah... well 💀💀💀😅😅😅 submitted by /u/Nai_multistan [link] [comments]
I knew they would have some level of success but this has exceeded even my expectations. Allday Project becomes the first co-ed k-pop group and fastest 5th generation group to achieve a RAK. Excellent debut song and is only getting better when every listen. Looks like Korea loves them and have embraced them. Congratulations to Teddy. With this, Kpop Demon hunters and Meovv, he's having a great year. And Blackpink is only around the corner. A co-ed group was a risky decision but it has paid off. submitted by /u/Mani_srao [link] [comments]
So I was just watching Yves content as always and I saw that she had a new album called space exploration. But the weird thing is that there is absolutely no singing in the songs. So I was wondering if it was made by another person and youtube accidentally tagged it as Yves' album. submitted by /u/Free_Guarantee_3335 [link] [comments]
These are some of my favorite girl group members who really stand out when it comes to dancing—not just the ones in the "official" dance lines. These idols have the kind of skill, control, and energy that make even BG-level choreos look natural on them. Kiof's Julie - What an elite dancer. Julie can really dance. Her control and sharpness are next level, and she pairs that with flawless expressions. I don’t know why, but I feel like she’d absolutely kill it with strong hip hop choreo. ITZY’s Yeji - She’s so well-balanced. I don’t think I’ve ever seen her overdo or underdo a performance. Whether it’s energy, expressions, or execution, she’s always calibrated just right. There’s a level of consistency in her dancing that’s seriously impressive NewJeans’ Hyein - While Hanni gets praise for her fluidity, I’ve always found Hyein more compelling when it comes to clarity and precision. She’s smooth but definitive. If I want to actually understand what the original choreography is supposed to look like (e.g., in “Bubble Gum”), I look at Hyein. Her lines are clear, but never stiff aespa’s Karina - she dances like a full-on performer. Her rhythm, timing, and expressions are always on point. She knows how to hit the beats without going overboard and has a natural sense of musicality that’s so satisfying to watch. You can tell she understands the assignment every time. KATSEYE’s Daniella - she is just so enjoyable to watch. You can tell she’s trained, but also has a natural groove that makes her stand out. Her fancams are genuinely fun to watch—they make me want to get up and dance too. She has that “it” factor when it comes to stage presence and movement. TWICE’s Momo - I’m not even a huge TWICE fan, but I stumbled upon their “Bloodline” cover and Momo completely took me by surprise. She’s that dancer who could easily take on intense BG choreos and totally own them. Momo has always been known as a strong dancer, but seeing her in more performance-heavy pieces really highlights her range. LE SSERAFIM’s Kazuha - What I love about Kazuha is her precision. She’s very textbook perfect in her execution, but still brings a groovy, laid-back vibe to her dance. Especially in “Easy,” you can see hints of hip hop influence, and it suits her so well. She doesn’t just complete the steps—she finishes them with intention. submitted by /u/Which_Report6757 [link] [comments]
