Irene renewed her contract with SM entertainment last year and everything seemed to be going well. Her solo debut “Like a Flower” achieved highest first-week sales of any female soloist from SM Entertainment in just one day, according to Hanteo. So why would SM not promote properly an artist with such potential like Irene? Her solo comeback is nowhere to be seen. And unfortunately she doesn’t receive any media presence from SM like CFs, brand deals, variety shows or broadcast programs. It’s like Irene’s potential is being wasted by her company, which is frustrating because she’s extremely popular and known for having one of the best visuals in K-pop. submitted by /u/LowTackle9946 [link] [comments]
Hello! So, as you may know, Purple Kiss is disbanding next month. (AHHHH) That cominded with their less-creepy rebrand lately has made me decide to look for more K-Pop/J-Pop group with the same concept! I REALLY love songs like "Intro: Save Me" "Sweet Juice" and "Nerdy!" I would prefer girl groups, but if y'all find a boy group with this vibe tell me please! Thank you! submitted by /u/HairyJellyBeanz [link] [comments]

Hating on a group is shitty. Hating on an already hated group is even shittier. However, it is ok to still criticize a hated group if you are not hating on them or attacking the members. Someone posted an honest review of Jump by Blackpink. The entire post was purely just about the song. Not the group or the members. They came to the conclusion that they did not think it was a good song. People were calling them out for farming upvotes from Blackpink haters or hating on an already hated group. We can have professional music discourse on any group. Also these hated groups are popular, so it makes sense to want to talk about their music. submitted by /u/SnooOranges829 [link] [comments]
let me preface this rant by saying that i know there's rampant misogyny and double standards in kpop. i know there's a clear hierarchy between how boy groups and girl groups function. i am very quick to call out a misogynist comment like the snap of my fingers when i see them, so don't take this rant as something anti-woman or anything like that because it's not. but there has been a problem since the giselle/sza situation back in 2021 (at least that's when i noticed it) of when a female idol does something wrong, fans are quick to bring up something a male idol did in the fense of that female idol. for example, a big thing i've been seeing lately is kiof fans bringing up tarzzan's cultural appropriation just to blow the heat off the girls for that weird live. another one would be 3/4's of blackpink saying the nword, but fans brushing it off because "male idols have done it too". i feel like this is such a tired excuse. as a woman myself, i feel like it's a responsibility to call out a woman when they're in the wrong (in the right way, avoiding misogynistic language and all that) and not excuse them when there's genuine problems. it's so embarrassing seeing people brush off bad things that female idols do just because their girls. i could understand the defenses, like how people blow up smaller situations female idols get into instead of focusing their energy on to worst scandals that male idols get into, but it gets to a point. it's okay to call out double standards between how female idols and male idols are treated. but what's not okay is to completely ignore genuine scandals female idols are in, simply because male idols also get in the same ones; neither are okay, and being a guy doesn't excuse you from criticisms and vice versa. it's so lazy to not acknowledge certain situations and criticisms just because your faves are girls. this post is no leverage for misogyny, so don't get it twisted, but it's a huge problem within GG fandom spaces that makes it really hard for people like me, a majority GG fan, to acknowledge problems with certain faves. submitted by /u/ReceptionWeak1345 [link] [comments]
That's it. That's the post. submitted by /u/SnooOranges829 [link] [comments]
For the next comeback I demand at least 1 song written by Haewon and Lily I will also be happy if we get other members writing songs. submitted by /u/GeorgeParisol [link] [comments]
Twice is part of big 3 (is it big 4 now?) , Whatever they are undoubtedly one of the biggest girl group in kpop history they are still girl group with most slaes(close to 20m in japan and korean charts alone), awards like daesags and 120+music show wins they conquered korea within a year of their debut and became nation's girl group with 'CHEER UP' (which is still the most streamed. song by a girl group on melon if i am not wrong)sweeping up all the awards they were defination of mosnter rookies of their era and now expanded their influence to other countries thet are highest selling kpop girl group in japan and in USA .In their 10th year they still working hard doing world tour, performed in lolla festival, released 3 albums (4 if solo albums included),i saw somewhere they realsed more than 50 songs this year and and many seems to forget how hard this girls work they deserve every bit success they got and more. let's take this moment to appreciate their work and impact they had on kpop as whole. wishing their days filled with laughter and love . Hoping that there is still a lot of time togather with them and bringing joy to millions like me . submitted by /u/AdResponsible3476 [link] [comments]
"WE GO UP" is currently going platinum in my room just like "DRIP" did. However, also just like "DRIP", I fear the song does little to solidify and progress the group's musical identity. BABYMONSTER does not need to have a serious sophisticated musical identity, nor do I think they should. However, it feels like "WE GO UP" was just made to be a fun viral hit rather than to establish the group's musical identity as fun music of this sort if that makes any sense. It was made to be fun, not because BABYMONSTER is fun. Hopefully this makes any ounce of sense. Basically, I don't think this song was an attempt at all to give or progress BABYMONSTER's musical identity. I also want to make it clear that there is nothing inherently wrong with this. Songs can be fun just to be fun, I just personally wish it did a bit more for the group. submitted by /u/SnooOranges829 [link] [comments]

More context for neobong. It's everything they represent which is why I love it sm yet still so simple. Just a box. A BOX that represents everything. I love minimalist yet big impact. I hate globe or dome lightstick. It's overdone. I don't like lightstick that look like other items or children toys. Btw this is just my opinion. submitted by /u/Personal_Damage6616 [link] [comments]
I understand that you don't like them, but don't you think you're throwing all common sense and logic out the window? The amount of stupid comments I've read in the last 48 hours makes me question the sanity of some K-pop fans. If you're a hater, at least don't be an embarrassing one. Besides, guys, you're not going to cancel BTS. Once an artist reaches a certain level of fame, it's almost impossible to cancel them. It's not going to happen, all those attempts are kind of pathetic. They're not above criticism, but some K-pop fans are just spouting nonsense after nonsense... seriously, what happened to being coherent? Getting angry about donations, spreading accusations of sexual abuse out of nowhere, calling Taehyung a pedophile because he "hugged Bada Lee"... Come on, people, this is getting embarrassing. I know anonymity makes you think you're safe, but some people are on the verge of spreading false accusations, and that could get you in trouble. Hate shouldn't make you lose all sense and logic; it's pathetic. Celebrating that you and your bots like hateful tweets, please find a job, a hobby, or something because you just look desperate, trying everything to see if something sticks. You're not going to cancel them, let's be more civilized and enjoy kpop. Also this could apply to BP too but that is different discussion. submitted by /u/notnamedneeded [link] [comments]
I confess that I've been missing the Blackpink I knew. Before, each comeback had its own energy, their charisma seemed natural and the songs had that perfect balance between fun and power. Today, it seems like they are always following trends, trying to please everyone and ending up losing some of what made the group so special. They are still talented and iconic, but it gives that feeling of nostalgia for the original Blackpink. It's strange to see how the evolution of one's career sometimes takes away a little of the essence that we loved. submitted by /u/Fun-Diver-6166 [link] [comments]

I think this is Nmixx's God Menu's moment. Much like SKZ, pre-God's Menu people was calling them JYP's flop etc all over X and Reddit. SKZ turn around started God Menu and now became a top Boygroup. I think Blue Valentine is going to be start something special for NMIXX. They have a decent size Korean fandom and can built on it. This is also a reminder to those who judge groups too early in their careers. it’s not about how you start, but how you finish. https://imgur.com/a/qxDMThX submitted by /u/Deecoli [link] [comments]
